Delicate Dresden Porcelain Centerpiece from the 19th Century. It Becomes a Chandelier. Fine centerpiece made of fine Dresden porcelain. Hand-decorated with flowers and a romantic scene. This is a magnificent example of the great porcelain pieces which were made in Meissen(Dresden) in the 19th century. As well as its beautiful decoration and quality making, this centerpiece has another feature that provides it with even more attractiveness: its top can be removed and then the piece becomes a stylized candlestick. The detachable part is designed to store fruits, and its base is perforated to ventilate the contents. This part connects with the base by means of a metal cylinder, which prevents the upper piece from falling. When it is removed we can see the base’s hole, intended to house a candle. And so the piece becomes a lovely romantic candlestick. ... moreThis piece’s decoration is typical of the style of the century when it was made. The white high-quality porcelain is molded in the shape of bunches of flowers(hydrangeas in this case) and groups of leaves. Painted in subtle nice colors. The base is decorated with two small sculptures depicting a young couple surrounded by flowery garlands. The girl is holding a wreath of flowers and is looking back, while the boy delicately touches her chin. The figures’ clothes are evocative of bucolic and pastoral scenes. On the other hand, the fruit bowl has a nice golden edge and inside we can see a lovely hand-painted bunch of pink hydrangeas. The bowl’s handles show some slight reparations, but except for this detail the piece is in good condition, being a real antique and a highly beautiful item. Figural Cherub Bone China Candle Stick Base Late 19th Century. Pretty candle stick base in the form of a cherub holding a swirl candle stick holder. In cream and turquoise. The candle stick holder has a 3/4 inch wide threaded shallow socket; it was probably meant to hold a tall brass candle socket which screwed in. From the creamy color of the clay, I would judge this to be bone china rather than porcelain, which would be whiter. Unmarked. It dates to circa 1880. ANTIQUE MEISSEN PORCELAIN CANDELABRA - 19th Century
This single antique porcelain candelabra is fresh from a Rhode Island estate!The candelabra features a seated cherub holding what appears to be a cup in his right hand. The four socket candelabra stands 15 inches tall and measures about 9 1/2 inches wide. There is a blue underglaze mark of four crossed lines and two dots. I am not familiar with this mark. However, it is probably Meissen or one of the other quality German porcelain factories. The candelabra comes apart in two pieces and the top portion can be rotated to put the candles where you like. There is a chip and a repair on the very bottom back part of of the base and there are also a few small chips on some of the flowers, otherwise, very good condition! NO RESERVE!

Unique Pair of Antique 19th Century Sitzendorf Candelabra
As found. A pair of Sitzendorf candelabra, late 19th century, modeled as a young gentleman with a purse holding a golden goblet and a young lady holding a pitcher(for wine perhaps) Both figures wear aprons. The columns of the candelabra are flower encrusted and both stand on flower encrusted bases. The gentleman carries a three armed candle holder and the lady has a single candle holder. Measuring approximately There is some damage notably: The gentleman: the head has been glued under the chin and there are some flaws on his forehead. Worn gilt on the goblet and a small chip on the base of the goblet. Missing rosebud on right hand branch of candleholder. Tips of two petals on right hand candle holder have small chips. The lady: has an unattached garland of buds/berries and some unattached netting around her hair and neck and it is not known ... moreif these were originally part of the decoration. There is a rough spot under the bottom of the center front fold of the skirt that could be a firing flaw. On both: the flowers. Leaves, petals and gilding are mostly intact but, in keeping with their age, there are some chips/cracks/missing or worn paint etc. all as pictured. Overall the colors are vibrant and the painted decoration and gilding is in good condition with lots of very fine detail on the faces, costumes, and accessories.
