Zsolnay Art Nouveau Eosin Tulip Candle Holder
A delicate porcelain tulip candlestick in the Art Nouveau/ Jugendstil style by the Zsolnay factory in Pecs. Hungary, ca. 1900. The dark red tulip has 3 petals that form the candle cup. The stem is reticulated and covered in a green/gold metallic luster glaze called"eosin" that also envelopes the foot. Hand-painted and in excellent condition standing 7.75 in. H. This is a beautiful Estate piece of French Art Nouveau Porcelain Candle Stick Holder. And a desirable pattern from 1910 we belive. This is a white ground porcelain and hand painted in 3 shades of green and gold gilt bands and Lily's in gold gilt. There is no stamps or impressed marks on underside but you can look at it and tell its Art Nouveau 1905- 1915. Description You are bidding on this stunning Sitzendorf porcelain 5-light candelabra with art nouveau goddess and putti made between 1887-1900. The sweeping arms of the removable candelabra are covered in trailing rose blossoms and the scrolling base has matching applied trailing blossoms surrounding a breathtaking goddess and putti. Painted in pale creams and gilt. Underglaze blue Sitzendorf hash, impressed numbers and a painted number 44 on the bottom. There is some expected gold wear and a nip to a petal here and there.
