This was made by Sargent& Co and is# J841 Sargent is a very old company noted for their quality lock sets. The box measures 4 1/2" by 3 3/4" The striker is 4 1/2" by 1" The heavy solid brass knobs are egg shaped and are 2 1/2" in length. The key and deadbolt works smoothly. There are some expected blemishes to the brass. No major flaws or damage. An excellent quality old lock set. This heavy duty brass lock set weighs a hefty 3 1/2 pounds. Rim locks or box locks are installed on the surface of the door and can be seen from one side of the door. Here we have a nice old antique Victorian reclaim Parker- Winder- Achurch Ltd of Broad St Birmingham rim lock complete with handles- keep and key. The rim lock is about 158mm x 107mm in size with a brass keyhole and surround round the handle hole it also has a brass name plate showing Parker- Winder- Achurch Ltd of Broad St Birmingham, Mr John Achurch was recruited into the business in 1890 so this item dates after this time, the knobs more than likely mahogany are about 52mm in diameter, the condition very good reclaim condition as you can see and in perfect working order

I have a very nice large cast iron deadbolt slide rim lock with matching catch for your consideration. Truly a hard to find large size where the box measures 7 x 4 1/2 inches. Manufactured by Norwalk Lock Works. Some old paint and minor surface rust will clean up nicely for reuse and a refinish if you wish. Upon inspection all the flat spring tumblers are in nice condition for reuse. There is no key so you will have to bring to a locksmith or find one that works. I have a very nice antique cast iron rim lock with catch. Period black fire glazed red clay doorknobs, cast iron keyhole cover, cast iron rosette, and a standard 1/4 inch drive rod for your consideration. I had a Corbin skeleton key that worked so I included it. Not original to set. Although would not be too hard to find the original with all the skeleton keys being sold here on ebay if you feel so inclined. Manufactured by Russell Erwin, RUSSWIN) these were an early quality manufacture of home hardware. Lock has a privacy latch lock lever that engages and disengages latch nicely. I have a hard to find early Russell Erwin pressed or stamped steel ornate rim lock box for your consideration. Manufactured somewhere around the late 1890's. Hard to read markings although I have had similar dating to which. Ornate pressed patterning on both sides. Catch has a small chip that could be repaired by a welder if desired although will work as is. The key is missing its barrel and will need a new barrel tack welded on to the flat for keyed operation of the deadbolt slide. I turned the key with pliers and it slides deadbolt back and forth although should have a cleaning and lubrication for optimal use. There is an unusual gravity operated latch mechanism, and a spring loaded deadbolt action(please see photograph) I do not have the key for this lock, however a good locksmith should be able to cut one if needed. I have polished up the show brass retaining it aged appearance. The brass knobs date from about the same period and ... morehave some knocks in them. But these do not notice that much. One of the brass knobs is permanently secured to the steel spindle, and the other knob fit on to the other end of the spindle and is secured with a grub screw. The original forged steel keep has decorative applied brass detail and the later brass escutcheon compliments the lock well. The lock measures approximately 115 mm(4 1/2" high. And 160 mm(6 1/4" wide. The center of the handle spindle to the outside of the lock measures 115 mm(4 1/2" The keep measures approximately 114 mm(4 1/4" high. And 33 mm(1 2/8" wide.
