The internal lock parts have been cleaned and checked to make sure they were in good condition and working properly. The exterior was painted in a high quality oil based gloss black paint that is very close to what the original finish would have looked like. Of course you can always repaint it in a color of your choice. This will come with a non-original working antique skeleton key. This has a keyed deadbolt and a levered deadbolt so you can lock the smaller deadbolt without using the key. This can be used as an entry or interior lock(although I would not rely on it for any real security) The lock is reversible for use on the right or left side of a door. This will come with cast iron rosette, cast iron key escutcheon, and the very nice swirl mineral door knobs pictured. No mounting screws come with it but you can easily pick them up at any home center or hardware store. Antique Restoration Hardware Cast Iron Reversible Rim Lock and Keeper
This set was taken off a door that was original to my house which was built in 1891. It was painted over with several coats of white paint that I removed. But it took the original black enamel with it. Both pieces are in great shape but they need to be detailed to remove the remaining paint and surface rust prior to repainting. Or if you prefer, leave them natural. The lock is reversible so you don't have to worry about which way your door is hung. Latch spring feels strong for another lifetime. Large keyway opening on box however no key to test deadbolt slide. Appears to be intact. Could be used as a passage until a key is found or have one made. Box measures 5 x 3 3/4 inches. I have a very old early industrial age cast iron rim lock for your consideration. Patd over 150 years old. Dating on box is 1863 and 1864. Marked D. M. Co. New Haven. Lock still works although will need a cleaning and lubrication inside. Outside has some minor surface rust. The catch has a small chip on the end but would still work for reuse. Could be repaired if needed. I carefully removed backplate to inspect and all seems there. There is no key for the deadbolt. You will have to have one made or find one that works. This has a standard 1/4 inch drive gear that engages and disengages latch. Nice old heavy manufactured lock for your vintage renovation. Replace or collection. Antique Rim Box Lock With Keeper- Early 1800's This antique rim box lock is made from cast iron. Includes the keeper. It features a dead bolt lock however it does not include the key or door handles/knobs. The spring on the door latch appears tight and moves smoothly when pressed up or down. It measures approx. 6 and 1/8 inches long by 4 and 3/8 inches high and approx. 1 inches deep. Its a very heavy and sturdy lock free of any breaks. Corrosion etc. As you can see in the photos it has barely any surface rust but on the front side there are some blue paint spots, all of which is easy to touchup with some paint. It was restored a few years ago so it is in very good condition.

Up for your consideration is this Mattison. Russell, Co. iron door rim lock with bronze workings. It measures 3 3/8 by 5 inches, overall. It was made by the Mattison, Russell, Co. New Britain, Connecticut and dates to before 1846. There is an embossed identification mark on the lock butt. It is in good condition with some minor surface oxidation and wear on the old black paint. What you see is what you get; there is no key. New Britain. Connecticut, established its dominance as the center of American hardware manufacturing as early as the late 1700s. Blacksmith shops provided a multitude of goods, including nails, hinges, locks and keys that were distributed by traveling peddlars to the farms and small towns of early America. I have a very nice large cast iron deadbolt slide rim lock with matching catch for your consideration. Truly a hard to find large size where the box measures 7 x 4 1/2 inches. Manufactured by Norwalk Lock Works. Some old paint and minor surface rust will clean up nicely for reuse and a refinish if you wish. Upon inspection all the flat spring tumblers are in nice condition for reuse. There is no key so you will have to bring to a locksmith or find one that works. I have a shabby old iron rim lock with catch for your consideration. Included are a pair of period red clay black glazed doorknobs that are in good condition where collars are tight for reuse and should clean up some. Scuffing and dings consistent with their age. Doorknob rosette, keyhole cover, and standard 1/4 inch drive rod. Box measures approx. 3 x 4 inches and is in good condition with no cracks or breaks. Appears to be nicely intact upon inspection and is a reversible latch slide simply by opening box with a single screw and flipping the latch slide. Will need a key to lock room while away since original keys flat is broken off, so, will have to find one that fits or have one made if you want to lock room while away. Latch lock lever engages and disengages lock for privacy while in room. Will need a good cleaning and lube for optimal ... moreoperation. Antique Victorian John Harper & Co Manufacturers Cast Iron Door Rim Lock & Key
Up for offer is an antique heavy duty original Victorian John Harper& Co cast iron door rim lock in good cosmetic condition and working order. This lock was in the family for generations. And was last used on a large family home in the 1980's. It dates around the late 1860's-70s and comes with original key. Brass manufacturers escutcheon shows a Coat of Arms emblem and reads JOHN HARPER& CO MANUFACTURERS. The key turns nicely and iron dead bolt catch extends out and retracts wonderfully. When the knob hub is turned. The latch bolt lifts upward nicely. The piece does show some typical vintage wear ie: some marks and slight rust to the backside, so it does need a light cleaning. Overall, it is a well preserved rim lock system. This right-handed large rim latch lock measures 7" x 5" x 1"deep. It does not have it's ... moreoriginal keep/keeper piece. The right side of the main body has a longer piece(tongue face) where the catches protrude that measures 1.75" deep. Distance from the center of keyhole to catch edge measures 3" Key measures 4.25" long. This auction is for the main lock and key only- no other hardware(bolts. Knobs etc) are included.
