We've described it as a lock/latch, it does have it's original key (obviously only works from the outside), the keys been repaired at some point and it needs quite a turn to engage the lock. The keep has hidden screws, see last pic, we've made a couple of repairs to the handles & replaced the collar that held the handles against the lock with a bolt, it will need recessing a few mm into the door, its a bit fiddly, so we'll leave it connected (let us know if you want us to remove it) Great original working condition, some marks and scratches especially around the handle entry.

Large Antique Rim Box Lock Iron Tagged With Nos 60 Improved Rim Lock Brass Knob
Antique Rim Lock Circa Mid 1800's This antique rim lock is made from wrought sheet iron. It features 1 door handle with brass knob. That was painted over with silver paint. This paint would be easy to remove if desired. The other door handle and knob are missing as is the key, and the keeper. The body of the lock features a metal tag which appears to be brass that's painted black. This tag features an American Eagle with the wording- Improved Lock. No. 60. The knob turns smoothly with a little squeak. Spring seems tight but needs a little lubrication. Overall its in good condition. With the usual wear to the paint, light rust, crackled paint. It measures approx. 6 inches long by 4 and 1/4 inches high by 7/8 inches deep. The end plate is 1 and 5/8 deep.

I have a nice antique craftsman period door rim lock for your consideration. This is an original authentic period lock from the 20's made of cast brass in the arts and crafts design. Lock box has a screw on rear for servicing and slide engages and disengages locking mechanism in box. Drive rod engages and disengages latch slide. Spring feels ok for latch. Comes with all original parts except a few of the screws are not original. The 7 longest. That I included, for the box installation and catch plate. The brass set screws for the knob and handle appear to be original as well as the screws for the door knob backplate. There is some old paint and finish on some of these pieces that would clean up if you wish. Nice aged patina for antique character. Vintage Wiliiamsburg Brass Rim Door Lock & Skeleton Key Folger Adam Co
Up for auction I have a really neat vintage Williamsburg Brass Rim Door Lock by Folger Adam Co. It comes with two skeleton keys. The bright and shiny one works amazingly well and even though the other one matches and I found it with the lock. It does not work as well. Key slides in and lock works nicely. Has a marking seal on the side that is slightly worn. I found one like it so I could guesstimate what it was. This most likely is for a large door. The back paper info is old and worn. How old this piece is I'm not sure. It does have rust and age wear and discoloration to it. Its very cool though. It does also need a decent cleaning. Item is very heavy weighing over 3 pounds. Measures about 8" x 5" x 1" Super cool. The keys are also fantastic. If there is anything important I have left out please ask! Buyer pays shipping ... moreand handling. A lot of 4 locks. First is marked MADE IN ENGLAND SECURE 2 LEVER. Very solidly built brass. Flush mount for china cabinet or other application. It is 2 1/2" x 1 1/4" Takes a skeleton barrel key. No key found. Second is marked PAT'D MAR. 24. 1868. On the other side. Marked 4 and 597. Also solidly built brass. Open mortise for a desk or drawer application. It is 2 3/8" x 1 3/4" with a 1/2" face plate. Takes a flat key not found. Both of these are in really excellent condition with old patina. The other two are basic brass plated rim locks not too old and unmarked. These are without catches for the jamb side. The first two are. Salvaged Edwardian Pattern Rim Lock - Brass Door Handle - Cast Keep
Here for auction is an attractively shaped Edwardian pattern salvaged rim lock. Brass handle with a cast steel keep. The rim lock, handle and keep are in good condition and in full working order. This rim lock has a decorative shaped case with a thumb latch. And can be used on the left or right side of a door. There is a round brass disk which shows the words PALACE MOTION and in the centre are the images of two metal working calipers. I have polished up the show brass retaining it aged appearance. The original brass knobs have some knocks in them(please see photographs) But this is to be expected in items of such age. The handles are fixed to the steel spindle with two grub screws. The later cast steel keep compliments the lock. The lock measures approximately 112 mm(3 3/8" high and 120 mm(4 3/4" wide. Large antique door rim lock in brass with porcelain and brass knobs- no key- This item is a heavy duty antique mortice lock in brass. It weighs 1.2Kg including Knobs. Dimensions = 13cm Height x 10cm Width x 4.5cm Thick/ Catch Flange x 3cm Thick/ Mortice Flange Good condition for age with nice patina. But if preferred would clean up nicely. The porcelain knob is in good condition but needs a retaining bolt. I haven't looked into it. But I would guess a good locksmith could make up a replacement key. The lock has a smooth action when the knobs are turned and the catch releases very nicely. The only thing I can tell you about the history of this item is that I recently bought it in Bolivia. The item for sale is a reclaimed brass rim lock which due to its age and faults is being sold as seen so please study the photos as they form part of the description- NO Returns on this one. There is some paint loss/oxidisation/white paint etc as per the photos and has wear associated with age and use. The lock is 88mm tall externally and 150mm wide- the keyhole is 20mm tall- all measurements approx. There is no key.The guide that the handle spindle looks to be missing,a screw missing from the front?the mechanism needs a good clean and lube. I have supplied something that looks similar but is not the correct one which may or not work and will need cutting down considerably if it is to work- the same with the keep as it is not the right one. Salvaged Edwardian Pattern Rim Lock - Brass Door Handle - Cast Steel Keep
Period Rim Lock& Handle. Here for auction is a salvaged traditional Edwardian(or later) pattern thumb rim lock. Brass handle and cast steel keep, which are in good working condition. The rim lock has an attractive oblong case with a spring loaded latch and thumb dead bolt actions. I have polished the exposed brass retaining its aged appearance. The brass handle dates from about the same period as the lock. With each knob fitting onto the ends of the spindle and are secured with grub screws. The knobs have some knocks to them but are not that noticeable. The later cast steel keep compliments the lock. The rim lock measures approximately 128 mm(5“ wide. 115 mm(4 1/2“ high.
