Antique Victorian Sargent Arcadia Pattern Pocket Door Lock Set in excellent condition circa 1885. Face plates measure 1" x 7 3/8" Mortise boxes measure 3 1/4" x 5 1/4" x 1/2" Pop out pulls and lock are in excellent working condition. There are some use marks on the mortise faces and one small ding on the top edge of one pull. Restored condition. SHIPPING: I combine shipping. I use USPS Priority Mail or First Class when possible. Antique Vtg Lock Set Tin Side Plates Brass or Copper Door Knobs Sargent Mortise
This lock set came from an auction in Vermont. It does not come with a key. The backset is marked Sargent. The door knobs are made of either brass or copper. I am missing the screw for one knob. The side plates are tin. They measures 7 1/8" tall and 2 3/16" wide. The face plate measures 5 1/4" tall and 7/8" wide. There is quite abit of rust and use/wear marks.

You are buying ONE(1) antique Sargent Brass Face Mortise Lock with a newer Russwin key and key lock cylinder. Spring action on the catch is very good. I could not see if the dead bolt moved. Key turns but the lock works do not move. note the minor surface rust on the lock interior. some of the japanned finish has flaked off due to the rust. I did not marry the Sargent and Russwin pieces. I rec'd the piece as shown in the pics. I subsequently unscrewed the bolt that held on one Russwin key lock cylinder and removed the lock cylinder so that I could fit the lock into a small flat rate box. The inside looks good.but you will have to judge that for yourself.

Today I have a Sargent& Co. Of New Haven, Connecticutt, entry door set. There is the makers name and a patent date of Jan. 26, 1886 on the lock. It appears to be brass, I didn't clean so the original patina is there. Comes with everything in pictures, lock with face plate, escutcheon plate with two key holes- one covered by cover that swings to side, key hole plate, thumb turn for deadbolt, round plate for handle to pass thru, two washers, and all original screws for mounting. It may be hard to see, but all plates have lots of detail on them. Cleaned up they should shine. The lock part that would fit in pocket measures, 4-3/4" tall, 7/8" wide, and 4-1/2" deep. I bought several of these locks at an auction I attend. They all must have came out of the same house because all of them were made by sargent. These mortise locks are in the best condition of any mortise locks I've bought in the past. I don't see any rust on them anywhere. The brass face needs to be cleaned and I'm sure they will look great. As far as the part of the locks where the door handle turns. They all are free and seem to work good. If it has a dead bolt, I have no keys, so I have no way to test that part. As good as they look and what I can move works, I really don't see any reason why the deadbolt part wouldn't work just as well. The good thing about sargent locks, the keys aren't hard to find and they are pretty universal to fit most any sargent lock. Sargent& Creo? 2 Vintage Door Hardware Brass Mortise Locks Skeleton Key Type Locks NO KEYS Here's 2 vintage mortise locks up for auction. First is a SARGENT lock that comes with 2 door plates. It is 3-1/2" tall and is 3-1/8" deep. The plates are brass color. Probably plated and have old paint on the outer surfaces. The spring works for the latch. The second has markings that look like"Creo" and USA. If someone knows this mark. I'd like to know what it actually is. The lock measures 3-1/8" tall and is 4-1/4" deep. The key slot is offset from under the door knob. It also has a lever on the top side. It either has no spring or the spring is broken. I'm not sure how this one is supposed to operate, I will leave that up to the new owner.
