Mid to late 1800's, for your consideration. ... moreHeavy iron box construction with chunky brass latch and deadbolt slides. Heavy brass drive gear and brass doorknob collar as well. Backplate is cast iron. Pattern marked" AMERICA" 8937. Drive gear engages and disengages latch slide smoothly. I do not have the original key so you will not be able to lock the room while away until you either find a key that works or have one made. Face plate of box is a heavy cast brass manufacture and the strike plate is a heavy brass stamped design. Doorknob is iron with a brass collar. Thumb handle and theaded 1/4 inch standard drive is iron. The rosette is a pressed steel. Lock box mortise cut is 3 3/8" deep x 3 1/4" high x 11/16" wide. The Brass face plate is 1" x 5 3/8" x 3/16" wide. The offset including the thickness of the brass face plate is 2 9/16" To inside edge of face plate is 2 3/8" Really a nice early quality lock for your authentic shop home or garden repair or renovation. When acquired, the item was covered in layers of paint and the door knobs were full of grime. The lock mechanism would not even operate. The set is fully functional now. Included in this lot are a set of white porcelain door knobs with spindle including the set screws, the lock mechanism with mounting screws, the escutcheons with mounting screws and the catch plate also including mounting screws. I have a lot of old mortise lock drive rods for your consideration. These are hard to find 1/4 inch three piece with groove design. One end is fixed to the doorknob with a pin and the other would have used a set screw on the knob neck. I carefully rewmoved each pin with a punch to make sure they were reusable. Nice hard to find lot of original doorknob drive rods for that hard to find fit for repair. Replacement or vintage renovation. There are 4 in this lot. Antique Vintage Door Hardware Russwin Mortise Lock with brass knobs & keys 1909

Russwin Mortise lock has a face plate of 1 ¼” wide x 8' tall. 3 7/8' deep. Comes with Three tested and functional keys and 4 brass screws. I tested the keys and the push buttons of the lock multiple times to insure fit and function. This is a 1909 working antique lock, not a newer made in China version. It has pat. Dates on it of Jan. 3. 1907. Aug. 31. 1909, and Oct. 26. 1909 The beautiful door knob goes on the inside and turns to open the door whether it is looked or unlocked. No key is needed for the inside. The brass ring goes on the outside of the door to pull it shut(the ring does pivot to hang down) The door unlocks with the key. Using the push buttons on the face you can have the door open only ... moreby turning the key or by turning the ring. One push button locks the turning of the ring and the other push button would unlock it. The key cylinder is adjustable to fit the thickness of the door. This is steel and solid brass and is a very heavy lock. The keys say Russwin. Made in the USA. I showed a picture of how the door knob goes thru the door. The shaft unscrews near the middle of it. The part that the ring goes on looks like it has to be cut to length once the thickness of the door is determined. These items came from a very old house and would be great for collecting or restorations. The front plate looks brass but a magnet does stick to it. The front plate measures 6 3/4” long by 7/8” wide. It is very clean inside and all the parts appear to be there. The box measures 3 1/4” wide by 5” tall. The distance from the middle of knob hole to the middle of the key hole is 2 3/8” The latch works and I think the bolt would work too but I DO NOT have a key that fits. The glass knobs measure 2 1/8” wide by 1 ½” tall and have no problems. I have cleaned these up as best I can as they were covered with paint and rust. So some paint and rust spots may remain. Antique vintage hardware large double pocket door mortise lock key metal box set Very. Very old- these appear to be in good condition for probable age and use. The metal has some scratches, wear to finish, bits of rust. The ornate front plate needs cleaning. It appears to work- when the key is turned, the rectangular piece comes out and fits into the corresponding hole on the other side. Also has what appear to be buttons- but they do not move. More basic information is below and I have listed lots of pictures. The front plates on these-one curves in and one curves out and they fit securely into one another. The face plate metal is possibly bronze and has a very pretty. Very intricate design. I did not find a maker's mark. The front plates measure 1 1/8 by 7 1/2. The smaller one-measuring only the box part is 2 1/4 by 5 1/2 and 1/2" ... morethick. The larger piece is 3 3/8 by 5 1/2 and 1/2" thick. The key is just under 2" tall. The set weighs just under 2 1/2 pounds I purchased this piece 10 years ago from a man who said he had found it at an Estate sale in upstate New York back in the 70's. Antique Victorian Eastlake lock vintage thumb latch mortise door hardware 1870
I have a nice old ornate thumb latch mortise lock for your consideration. Ornate floral geometric patterning consistent with its 145 year old age. Nice large chunky brass slide bolt. Lock face measures 4 9/16 x 1 1/8 x 1/8 inch thick. Depth of mortise cut from face plate to end of box(including 1/8 thick face plate) is 2 5/8. deep. Height for cut is 2 13/16 x 11/16 inches. Mortise will be slightly larger than box. Upon inspection looks all intact although there is some minor wear to the internal mechanism for disengagement of latch slide. 1/16- 1/8 inch) Works although it is slightly short of full recess. It looks that it could be repeened carefully for 100% functionality. Will work as is though. Nice old hard to find lock for your authentic vintage renovation or repair. I have a rarer"AMERICA" pattern. Hard to find, heavy iron mortise lock made by the Norwalk Lock Co. Mid to late 1800's, for your consideration. Heavy iron box construction with chunky brass latch and deadbolt slides. Heavy brass drive gear and brass doorknob collar as well. Backplate is cast iron. Pattern marked" AMERICA" 8937. Drive gear engages and disengages latch slide smoothly. I do not have the original key so you will not be able to lock the room while away until you either find a key that works or have one made. Face plate of box is a heavy cast brass manufacture and the strike plate is a heavy brass stamped design. Doorknob is iron with a brass collar. Thumb handle and theaded 1/4 inch standard drive is iron. The rosette is a pressed steel. Lock box mortise cut is 3 3/8" deep x 3 1/4" high x 11/16" ... morewide. The Brass face plate is 1" x 5 3/8" x 3/16" wide. The offset including the thickness of the brass face plate is 2 9/16" To inside edge of face plate is 2 3/8" Really a nice early quality lock for your authentic shop home or garden repair or renovation.
