Beautiful Early Coffee Tin with Embossed Roses This stunning early coffee tin is decorated with lovely embossed pink rose motifs and is topped off with a small. White porcelain(or porcelain-looking) knob. Lovely turquoise or teal color to the background(which is really a montage of small flowers) and to the trim. The antique wear and patina adds to the beauty of this tin, which likely dates to the 1900-1910 timeframe. The knob is apparently a newer replacement and has less patina than the rest of the tin. The screw on the inside of the lid is exposed and a little sharp to the touch. I’m not sure if the new knob is porcelain. I think it’s probably plastic. There are lots of small areas of wear. Scratches and scuffs, handling marks and soiling, some small dents and dings, etc. Many noticeable worn-to-silver areas. And one side has some much ... morelarger areas of wear. Spotted wear on lid, and tiny square piece missing from lid lip. Some early rust starting here and there. The inside of the lid is fairly dark while the inside of the base has lighter patina– there are some small rust spots in both areas. Bottom dark with patina. Open/close requires a little coaxing. Again. Condition issues of note: Lots of antique patina. Many worn-to-silver areas. One side is much more worn than others. Some rust starting here and there. Including some spots in interior. Knob is a newer replacement. Probably plastic. Open/close needs a little coaxing. Approximate size of tin is about 3.5” by 3.5” by about 6.75” tall. Excluding knob on lid. The tin is empty. This is the mark of Ashbil Griswold who worked out of Meriden. Connecticut beginning in 1802-1842. 19th C. Gilt Bronze Calling Card Tray; Dionysus , Levillain, Barbedienne
Offered at auction is a 19 th century calling card tray made by the premier French Bronze foundry Barbedienne and designed by the sculpture Ferdinand Leveillain. This tray is cast from bronze and has a gilt surface. The subject depicted on the central plaque of the tray is classical in nature and seems. In my opinion, to have a Dionysic theme. I am not totally familiar with all the adventures of the Greek god Dionysus but this tableau seems to depict the young Dionysus, reclining beneath grape vines, being attacked by a hydra and being defended by two male devotees. That the reclining individual is Dionysus(Bacchus in the Roman world) is indicated by the grape arbor, the leopard skin he is laying on and his thyrsus staff lying beside his couch, all attributes indicating the identification of the young god. Around the central plaque are repetitive ... moredepictions of grape leaves reinforcing the theme of the central plaque. The tray is cast in bronze and stands 1 1/8 inches tall at its lip and is 7 5/8 inches long by 5 ¾ wide. The condition of this tray is quite good with the little wear to the low relief sculpture that Levillain was well known for. The front of the tray has a gilt surface that has been partially restored to its original look showing only a few dark spots and some gilt loss. The unseen back of the tray still has some gilt surface but also has loss to its gilding around its edges. The central plaque is signed by Levillain at the lower right and the back of the tray has the standard engraved mark of the Barbedienne foundry. This is a possible grand tour item. This is a nice antique tray and would look good on a desk or table for the receipt or dispensing of calling cards. This tray should be of interest to any collector of neo-classical art or to anyone involved with wine and enology given that the Dionysus was the giver of the knowledge of wine to mankind. Early 18th Century C Antique Iron Kettle Coal Pusher Old Hearth Fireplace 1700's Description: Early 18th Century Hearth Kettle Coal Pusher Nice example of early ironwork dating from the early to mid 18th century. Circa 1740-1780. An almost identical example to this can be found on page 185 of George Nuemann's Early American Antique Country Furnishings. A pusher such as this would have been kept at the foot of an open hearth fireplace. Used to arrange various kettles as well as arranging hot embers. If you've ever been to some reinactment villages such as colonial Williamsburg, you can see these items in place, used to arrange the hot coals under meat cooking broilers. Art Deco Spelter Figure of a Golfer on an Onyx Base with Verdigris
In excellent condition is this 24cm(9.5" tall spelter figure of a golf er in mid swing on an onyx base. There is a small amount of verdigris and a good dark patina which are good signs of age. Both the figure and base are in excellent condition. It could be used as a book stop or as a free standing ornament. It weighs just over 2 kilogrammes so overseas buyers should check the postage costs before buying as these will vary widely by country and delivery method. I'm happy to answer any questions. It stands only 1 3/8" tall and that is to the top decorative side of the hinge. The Paper Clip displays a wonderful version of Tiffany Studios Green/ Brown patina. The top decorative side of the Paper Clip shows a Lion for the Astrological Sign of Leo. The Paper Clip Hinge opens and closes with ease and is working properly. Vintage Art Deco era Hotpoint space heater by General Electric. It measures 18" tall. The cage is 14" across. The plug is a little crusty. But the cord is good and it does work. I only kept it on for 15-20 seconds and I could hear and feel that it was working. The center has a ceramic or enamel flower which has a few chips. The back side has an art deco lightning bolt design. There is general wear to the paint. The copper as well shows surface discoloration from use. There are 10 photos. Two Pretty Vintage Tindeco Teal Blue Cake Tins w Fruit Motifs
Two Pretty Tindeco Cake Tins These two pretty vintage tins are very similar. And both were made by Tindeco. Both have similar fruit motifs, with the larger tin having a solid teal-colored base, while the smaller tin has a pale blue background. Both have hinged lids. The smaller tin once housed a Beech Nut Black Fruit Cake, and the larger tin probably contained a cake of some kind as well, though there are no markings to that effect. It’s possible these could date to the 1920s like some other Tindeco tins, but they seem a bit more recent than that to me. The tins have some vintage wear and patina. There are some small areas of wear. Some scratches, handling marks, some soiling, some small dents and dings, etc. Metal rims darkened or darkening on both. Some small areas of rust starting here and there. Including at inside crevices. Tindeco logos ... moreare crooked on both. Hinged lids work fine on both. Specific condition issues are mentioned below. Smaller Tin Good bit of soiling on the lid and on front side. And these areas look like early rust starting. Large white mark or paint spot on one end(see photo) Larger rust spot on inside lid edge. Larger Tin Noticeable large scratch on lid. Some noticeable scratches on base. Especially on back side. Quite a few dings on bottom. Tindeco logo is very crooked on this one. Again. Condition issues of note: Both have some rust here and there. Including inside crevices· Tindeco logos crooked on both. Especially on the larger tin. Smaller tin– Good bit of soiling. With early rust starting in those areas. And white mark on one end. Larger tin– Some noticeable scratches. Some dings on bottom. A Chicago mail order house that sold patterns to children to make brass boxes, frames, etc. and FR&C. This antique box is in sturdy. But well worn, condition. There are dings here and there to the metal, lightly bumped corners, light oxidation and patina. The lid doesn't quite shut all the way. Inside is a bit rough: The green felted paper has been written on, is stained, and should probably be replaced. The folded metal under the lid is kind of free hanging, but fine. The hinges are good. This bust was made at a French foundry right around the year 1900 and has a little brass title plaque that reads LIBELLULE PAR A. de RANIERI(Sculptr) Libellule is the French word for dragonfly and Aristide de Ranieri. The statue is of an Art Nouveau stylized woman in a long flowing gown with partially exposed breasts. The woman has flowers in her hair and is admriing a butterfly which is down on her side. Well used English Copper One Half Gallon Jug This shape is called a Harvester measure. Made of solid copper body with a hollow handle. These were made in England in this same design since 1780. This one has the lead capacity seal on the side of the lip and is marked for the reign of George V, GR and a Crown within a diamond) dating it from 1910 to 1935. These are sometime found together with other similar jugs in varying measurement sizes. Along with the lead capacity mark they were also engraved on the front with the capacity size. This one is engraved 1/2 Gallon. It's been well used over many years and has some dents ... morealong the lower part. We don't see these as a detriment, though, we think it adds character. Unique Late 1800s Tin Box Bullfighting Matador Distress Patina Bull Fight
Interesting Antique Bullfighting Tin This tin appears to be fairly old– likely dating to the late 1800s– and it has an interesting bullfighting theme(presumbably Spanish bullfighting) Different bullfighting scenes with matadors. Bulls, and horses appear on the lid and each side of the base. There is a good bit of wear and patina, especially on the lid, and there are no manufacturer’s or other marks. Hinged lid bevels to plateau. The vintage wear and patina includes some areas of wear. Some scratches, handling marks, some soiling and discoloration, some small dents and dings, rust, etc. Very large area of worn and dark patina on the lid. Part of latch is missing. Corners of base worn with dark patina. And some large worn-to-silver areas on the base. Especially on one end. Some rust in several areas. Including on lid. Lower metal rim, on inside ... moreand on bottom. Dark patina on inside and on bottom. Hinges work fine, only slight coaxing needed for closure. Again. Condition issues of note: VERY LARGE DARK AREAS OF WEAR ON LID. MOST OF ART OBSCURED. Rust in several areas of tin. Inside and out. Part of latch is missing. Large worn-to silver areas on base. Bronze fox. I believe he is Austrian. He is marked on the bottom but with my 10X, I cannot make it out. An expert surely can. He is almost 4 inches long and appears perfect. He has been painted and some paint wear. I am not an expert in small bronzes so do not know exactly how to describe him. He is a nice one however.

The Item is a"Letter Opener" and it is done in one of Tiffany's most desirable Desk set patterns known as"Zodiac" The Letter opener is 10 1/2" wide or long by 5/16" tall or thick and 7/8" deep at its deepest part which is the Handle end. The Letter Opener Displays a brown with highlights of green patina. There are Zodiac signs on each side of the handle. One side is showing a Scorpion for the sign"Scorpio" and the other side is showing the Scales for the sign"Libra" The letter opener shows signs of use. The Patina shows wear as you can see areas of the copper plating under the Brown/Green Patina. The Letter Opener is considered to be in very good condition as there are no cracks. TIFFANY STUDIOS, PINE NEEDLE POSTAGE SCALE GREEN PATINA
For Auction is one of the Rarest of the desk set items to be found and it is made by Tiffany Studios of New York. The Item is a"Postage Scale" and it is done in the"Pine Needle" desk set pattern. The patina on the metal is the most desirable Green/Brown. The stained glass is the green/white opalescent Favrile glass. The Postage Scale stands 3 3/8" tall. 1 3/4" wide and 2 7/8" deep. The round platform on the top is 1 7/8" in diameter. This Postage Scale displays an Acid Etched Pine Needle Overlay Pattern on Green/White Opalescent Glass surrounding three sides of the Scale. The left. Right and back. The Top round disk that held the letter even has this acid etched pattern as well as the top plate of the scale underneath that. The Front has a Postage Scale label with its weight measures and rates in the ... morefront. It is marked Crescent Postal Scale and has a date of January 31st 1899 in the lower right hand corner. There is some earlier dates to the left but this is the latest one. The mechanism was made by Crescent but the Acid Etched Metal Pattern and Glass along with the Patina was done by Tiffany Studios. This is one the hardest items to find in the Pine Needle desk set items along with the Magnifying Glass I just listed. This also happens to be one the most desirable and Rarest of the Tiffany Pine Needle Desk set pieces to acquire. The Patina is very good but does show signs of wear! The Postage Scale is considered to be in very good condition as there are no cracks. Nicks, or chips to any of the Glass. The only issues is a few dings in the metal. I can see one one on the back and lower front platform. The round letter disk holder is slightly bent and the underside bottom has a few dings. I'm quite sure this was from dropping it. It is amazing that none of the glass ever broke. This is all considered minor and does not take away from the piece. RARE DECO EARLY 1900'S GALVANO BRONZE CLAD MORI COWPUNCHER COWBOY HORSE BOOKENDS
From my personal collection.This is only the second time I have ever seen this set in my many years of collecting. Ultra-rare and are not listed in any leading bookend. Reference books. These are definitely a very early. Paul Mori( Galvano Bronze)set. Before the employees of Paul Mori purchased the company and changed the name to Pompeian Bronze. You can see this by their size because in the early 1900's books and bookends were much smaller. There is also a similar set that is larger and in the same style called" Ridin High" circa 1925. Pompeian did not take over the company until 1920. This set dates from 1905 to 1915. Bronze clad was a very expensive and time consuming process. It required special attention to the amounts of electrical current used and the composition of the plating solution. The molds were first put in hot ... moreparaffin or carnuba wax and left to harden. It was then sprayed with an electrically conductive coating. The piece was then held by a wick and dipped into the plating solution. The mold could stay from just a few hours to a few days. After complete the finishes would vary by subject and then would be sealed with lacquer. The term" Cowpuncher" was first used in 1878 before the common term now days of Cowboy. The word actually had its origin in the days when the railroads started to haul cows from the Plains to the cities of the Midwest and East. A fellow who helped push the cattle onto rail cars by poking them with a long stick.Giving rise to the expression Cowpoke in1881 and Cowprodder. The Cowboy used a prod to keep the cows standing during the railroad journey so that they wouldn’t get trampled. The bookends show the Cowpuncher A.K.A. cowboy sitting atop his trusty horse. The cowboy keeps an eye out across the plains looking after the cows that are shown in the background. The details are really nice and I love the finish. A deep. Dark bronze with faux, verdigris of green highlights throughout. The bookends measure 4 3/4" tall by 4 1/2" wide and weigh 2.12
