Inspired by the opulence of 19th-century lighting this pair of beautiful candelabras has more than 380 precision-cut and polished prisms for optimal refraction and sparkle. They are an impressive pair by any standards. The antique brass frames have a very nice patina and have no damage and are completely intact. They measure 12 inches wide and 28 inches high. They weigh approximately 20 lbs. each and shipping weight would be 50 lbs. total weight. I believe these to be from the 1940's and they were never converted to electric. DESCRIPTION: Here is a fine set of antique English brass candlesticks marked with a registration number of Rd 223580. My research tells me that is from 1893. Both have the push up mechanisms but they are stuck and look a little crusty. The sticks themselves look very good considering their age. They came from an estate sale off the mantle of a very fine home. They are not exactly the same height. One is 9-3/4 inches tall and the other is 9-5/8 inches tall. The taller one weighs 15.8 ounces the other weighs 13.7 ounces. The shorter one has more wear to ... morethe beaded edges. Almost worn smooth, and it sits a little off kilter, a little wobble if you will. Some little nicks/dents and expected surface wear. If the push up comes up through it is covered with old crusty wax. The taller one has a bit of dark wax on it's base and you can see the push up coming up the top. Has expected small nicks/dents and surface wear. The cut corner bases are 3-7/16 inches with the taller one being more perfectly square. The other is 1/16 shorter one on side. The candle opening is also a bit wider on the taller one. Overall they make a wonderful antique appearance. Please inspect all 12 photos closely. Use the zoom tool, the pictures are an important part of my description and condition description. They are either brass or bronze(I'm not sure) With a marble base. The base is 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" Each measures 12 1/4 tall. They features a Romanesque woman, holding a torch. Each girandole weighs almost 3 pounds. The brass/bronze has an aged patina. The marble base has some discoloration, wear on the edges etc. These items are dirty& need cleaning, polishing etc. Although they are a pair, there might be some variations between them, as they almost seem crudely made. This is a beautiful pair of vintage. Silver candle holders. They are a silver metal material. Imprinted on the bottom in the material is' FARMINGTON STERLING Weighted Reinforced 1' They do show wear. I noticed when picking up one, the round part on the bottom is coming loose/lifting. There are dings, scratches, surface wear, used in condition wear, age related wear, uneven places, discolorations etc. I also noticed someone has taken something sharp and looks to have imprinted a name, Mitchell' is what it looks like on the bottom of one. I do not have any sterling silver cleaner but I'm sure they will polish up nice. I am selling just as I purchased. This is for both. They measure approximately 2 1/4 inches tall. He moved to Denmark as a ten-year-old and studied five years at the Sorø Akademy, after which he learned to become a decorative sculptor. Thanks to his wife Alba, Just was introduced to the craftsman Morgens Ballin(1871-1914) for whom his wife worked for as a trained chaser. They are a matching pair of heavy wrought iron candle holders with scrolls and dimples with Green Verdigris over a copper wash. Magnet sticks to them. Arts& Crafts era and detailing. Measures 9 1/2" tall. No makers marks that I can see. But these were done by a skilled artisan. They are in good condition. One could use a little rebending to make it stand correctly on all four scroll feet. Hammered detailing and with dimples on the top buds that hold the candle. This is for a pair of brass spring loaded push-up candle sticks.Both are weighted bottoms. Not sure of maker but both have an anchor and a star in a circle on bottom. I bought these with shades that are etched with flower and leaves.Shades have some rough areas around rim which is typical and waves in glass. The stick measures approximately 6 1/4" high x 4 1/4" across base and with shades on 11" high with shades on. Both holders shows some dings& dents on base. Still in good condition and useable. Needs cleaned.
