DESCRIPTION This auction is for an early metal daisy or other flower basket doorstop. If I had to guess the age. I would guess pre-1900. It has been painted over, probably more than once. The mold has openings within the array flowers and are not white spots in the pictures. The back side of the mold is not flat and shows the casts of the flowers and basket. It stands 10" x 5-3/4" wide and weighs 5 pounds before packaging. It looks like it is marked on the bottom, but I'm not sure exactly what it says. It's either letters and a number or all numbers. I used steel wool on the back and bottom to locate the mark. Has had paint added. Some light surface rust. LOCAL PICKUP IS ALWAYS WELCOME. White spots or glare is from the camera flash. Painted Vtg Garden Cast Iron Art Nouveau Sunflower Cattail Architectural PAIR
Beautiful matching cast iron panels of sunflowers. Cattails and greenery with an Art Deco/Nouveau flair ~ Each piece measures 12 x 10.75" and their combined weight is just alittle over 7 pounds. The design is done in 3D relief with paint in the lower levels. Green, yellow, brown and gold. Original purpose is a mystery to me. decorative wood stove parts perhaps, not sure. There are holes on the back for a finial type screw and bolt set up. The panel only has one on each ~ 2 total. But they will show you what is suppose to be used. Additionally. One corner on each panel has a bad weld repair along the upper left hand corner. So the hole needed to secure those same corners is no longer there. Although the corners are a heart breaker. The majority of this old iron is still amazing. Shouldn't be terribly difficult to find a new use for ... morethem or a way to anchor them into place. There is a marking on the back/center of a Sun with an'M' in the middle + 5958 59 on both parts. magnet is drawn to it ~ metal is a silver pewter like color. Antique Art Deco Industrial Age painted cast iron grate sculpture/1930s
Let's call this a great grate. It's most likely a grate from an early bellowing furnace. I would say it's Art Deco Machine Age Design and it makes a powerful sculpture as it sits in the photos. It is heavy cast iron and has a fabulous coat of early. Probably original red paint. I would date it to the 1930s. It is about 16" wide and 10" tall. It weighs about 16 pounds. It sits on its own and has two screw holes in the base- a black metal stand attached by screws could be added by the buyer to make it display even better. Condition is as found and as shown. Overall VG with a nice patina. Back side is black and feels a bit sooty. This a striking and simple piece of Industrial Art that would make a huge statement in your home. US ship only. Beginning when old man Morton Judd established Judd Manufacturing Company at Wallingford, Connecticut back in 1830. In 1855, his sons joined the company, and they became known for their banks, both still and mechanical. The name changed to H. L. Judd Company in 1887. And it is under that name this pair of bookends was ... moremanufactured– sometime after the turn of the century. Each is 5 ½” by 3 ½” with a heavy 2 ⅜” return. Which gives them extra stability. The crispness of detail is superior to Judd’s primary competitor during its day. Hubley. Judd raised the bar in that respect. Other than some paint loss. They are in fine condition. Old things look old, which is one reason they add charm and warmth. This pair is fresh from a local estate. And they remain untouched. You’re going to be thrilled. Antique Doorstop This auction is for a really nice and very well made antique figural doorstop that dates to the 1930s or so. The stop is made from cast aluminum and it’s shaped like a long Dachshund wiener dog. The dog is cold painted with a bronze type finish and there is just some minor paint loss. As you can see. The dog’s tail can be used as a handle and it doesn’t have a boot scrap at the top, so it’s a rather unusual model that I’ve never seen before. 19th C Clock Finial? Antique Painted Cast Iron Dog Whippet Greyhound Statue
I purchased this cast iron dog figure from an old woman who was selling several antique and vintage items at a flea market. She thought that it was probably from an antique iron clock. I think that is probably right but I am not sure that it is. I think that it displays nicely without the clock. Because of the ribs and the general shape of the dog. I think that it is probably a greyhound or a whippet. If you have a better idea, please let me know. It is definitely antique. I think it very likely that it is from the 19th century if not earlier. It measures about 5 3/8 inches long. Including the pegs for mounting it. It measures about 3 3/8 inches high. It weighs about 13.1 ounces. It is definitely cast iron that attracts a magnet. It is partially hollow. It was apparently cast in two pieces. Curiously, I do not see a screw holding the two ... morepieces together. The condition is much like you see it in my photos. I think that it has an interesting antique patina with dark iron and much of the original dark mustard yellow and dark brown paint or enamel. I think that red around the face is probably original also even though it is pretty bright. There are no cracks or breaks. Otherwise. It is fine and as shown. My photos should give you a good idea of its general condition. I guarantee this iron dog to be as described and represented by the photos. The photos are part of the description.
