PAIR of FINE ANTIQUE BRONZE ORIENTAL VASES or URNS RAISED BIRD FLORA & FAUNA
Here is a pair of fine antique Asian bronze vases or urns. Most likely Japanese or Chinese. Each features a motif of raised birds, tree limbs, flowers and leaves with clouds above the scene. Top neck features a raised design with a diamond patterned rim edge. The color is a deep and dark brown with scattered green patination to a dark chocolate brown near bases and top rim. There is a very minor impact mark to the flared area near bases(unnoticable without very close inspection) with minor impacts at the base rim, otherwise both are in VERY FINE +++ condition and much nicer than pictured. The detailing is fantastic with a great nature subject matter. Each measures just over 10" high with 6 3/4" wide top openings. I believe these date pre 1900 and are both unmarked. Bronze with verdigris patina and lines of bronze showing in a circular pattern around the bottom and moving up to midway on the vases. Beautiful craftsmanship. We are pleased to offer this wonderful. Old, antique pair of candlesticks. This petite pair dates to the 19th century. They are a beautiful representation of French ormolu. They are Rococo in style and feature very detailed and ornate design. The pair are gilt bronze which has a nice thickness. They have beautiful bases with"plant stem" center columns. The stems lead to a large opened bloom that rests under the three, ascending height candle holders. The candle holders have very detailed leaves and vines that seem to wrap around them. There are two large flowers on the top sections; one faces front, the other faces the back. The candle wax drip cups are also in the form of multi petaled flowers. The pair is very ornate and extremely detailed. They are quite old and they take a smaller circumference taper candle as traditional tapers ... moreare too large to fit into the cups. Offering a very large pair of antique bronze candelabra. The highly gilded circular top is also bronze with enameled flower rosettes. There are 7 candle holders on each candlestick. There is a angel on each piece in very good detail. The base is also highly chased and engraved. The entire set has a nice gilded gold wash which is all original. The set is perfect with no stress marks or breaks. Fortunately the top circular piece does unscrew for cheaper transport. The set will be shipped with a total of four pieces in the box and the total weight is 26 pounds. I tested the metal and determined that they are all bronze. A magnet does not stick anywhere except on the chased columns where a iron pipe is present under the bronze material. All filigree and gilded areas are bronze. RARE PAIR 19C ALBERT GEORGE STEVENS GILDED BRONZE LION SCULPTURE ANDIRONS MANTLE
PRESENTED FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION A Rare Pair of Antique 19th Century Albert George Stevens 24 kt Gold/Gilded Bronze Lion Sculpture Andirons. This beautiful pair of bronze lion andirons were sculpted and created by Albert George Stevens(1817-1875) He created the lion sejant model in 1852. They were cast in iron. 25 lions sat on the dwarf posts by the entrance& railings outside the British Museum, London. They were removed in 1895, some were later placed on the railings around the Wellington monument in St Paul's Cathedral, London, some put into storage, one resides in the Natural History Museum. From 1896 onwards, the Covent Garden firm of Messrs D. Brucciani& Co. made bronze casts of Stevens lions, which were sold for 7s. 6d. each. Other variants were produced in earthenware by the Manchester firm of Pilkington's Tile and ... morePottery Company between 1899-1900, and by Carter& Co. of Poole, Dorset, during the early 1900s. A plaster bronzed cast was given to the Tate 1912, now resides in the Victoria& Albert Museum. In 1896 Messrs D. Brucciani& Co were permitted by the trustees of the British Museum to take casts. As a result cast iron reproductions can be seen on the Law Society building and Ely House(now Malletts) in London, and the City Museum Leicester and they were popular as staircase and fireplace ornaments. In 1877 Lewis Day. Purchased a bronze lion(£4 5s.in 1877) from a sale of the contents of Stevens' studio following his death two years previously and openly admired Stevens' work. Lewis Day became a designer for Pilkington 1899, the same year they started to produce the Lion Sejant. Some confusion exists re. the Brucciani casts. Judy Rudoe writes in the 1991 British Museum catalogue that the Brucciani casts were bronze(page 25) however, these casts were sold for 7s. 6d. This relatively low price would suggest these were not bronze but perhaps cast iron. Pair of Bronze Tazzas Roman Engraved
This is a beautiful pair of bronze tazzas(sometimes mistaken for compotes) Each one is beautifully engraved with elaborate roman scenes on top and the bases are unique and highly detailed in expert detail. This is truly an amazing pair! Very hard to find anything remotely along the lines of these. I have not been able to locate a maker's mark. But they are obviously expertly done. Antique Pair Of Bronze Metal Trumpeting Elephants On Marble Base Bookends 1940's era. One is missing the trunk- may be able to be fixed; the other has a stress crack on a rear leg but is otherwise intact and is a little loose on the base. Small chip on one marble base. Display well. Great original patina. Tusks are in good shape with minor chipping of the white paint. Not sure of the maker as it is not signed. Marble base measures 5" x 3" Heavy for their size. AUCTION DESCRIPTION: Armor Bronze/National Metalizing Co. 1914-1948“Snuggling Puppies” Circa: 1918-20 Guaranteed to be one of the oldest and all original Armor Bronze Production’s in the early bronze clad issue. These have a wonderful chocolate bronze finish with aged and bold patina. This set has not been listed in any price guide as of this date and would be considered extremely rare and especially considering their wonderful near flawless condition. Armor Bronze collectors will absolutely love this adorable set. This set’s theme is two small puppies cuddled together with one resting his head on the others hip while the other is resting his or her head on the rib area. The breed appears to be English or Irish setter or possibly another type hunting dog. It would also be my guess that they are resting on a very ... morelarge canine pad of the time or possibly just a cloth pallet of hay. The bottom of the base is sculpted with an ornate design leading me to believe it is a very large canine bedding pad. They are both signed in the earliest Armor Bronze shield and script of Armor Bronze Co. and copyright sign which also indicates the earliest of Armor productions. Something that is really nice about this set is you can place the end on any one of the four sides since the puppies are cuddled in such a manner you can see at least one of their faces from any angle. Specifications: Height: 4.50” Depth: 4.25” the pair, Width: 5.15, Condition: This set is in excellent to near mint condition. Cladding is completely tight to under mold. There are no felt coverings and the bottom cladding is tight with original raked lines on one and the other is smooth with wire wick ends present. This set is the only set I have ever owned or seen in my 45 years of collecting and selling bookends and I have contacted several of the oldest collectors I have corresponded with over the years and it is the only pair they have ever seen. So I would venture to say this is one of the rarest sets Armor produced. PLEASE OBSE
