This is a large pewter plate by one of the finest families ... morethat manufactured American pewter. This pewter plate has a single reeded rim and shows good manufacture. The plate has a part of two impressed eagle marks. Both marks are worn and hard to read, but one can clearly recognize the "W", above the stars and eagle. There is also a "D" that can still be read below the eagle mark to the left. This would mean there is the name "WILLIAM", above the eagle and "DANFORTH", below the eagle. The second mark appearsto have a part of the name "DANFORTH" below the eagle. These marks are listed in "A Guide To American Pewter" by Carl Jacobs, mark number 122, page 81-82; where an 8" plate with this mark was valued at $65 back in 1957.

This pair of early pewter plates have a a flat rim with ... moregood weight and are from the middle of the 18th Century. The plates are rare examples by a maker I had never been able to offer for sale before coming across a few in a recent lot I was able to purchase. One plate is marked on the back rim with the distinctive mark of Jonas Durand who worked out of London from 1732 to 1775. The second plate has a worn impressed mark in the center of the back. This plate was purchased on Charles Street in Boston on May 22, 1967. The first plate with the maker's mark, that mark can be found in Cotterrell mark# 1475. That plate was purchase on March 4th of 1966. I offer this rare pair of English pewter plates with no reserve and a Buy It Now.

The painting is nicely detailed with a farmer and his wife in national costume sitting in their horse-drawn carriage pulled by two horses, the farm in the background. It is complete with the brass openwork under tray and brass burner. Marked on the bottom: Edeltin C. Antique English pewter half pint measure, marked
This antique measure has a very faded inscription on the front that seems to date it to May 15. 1811. It is very hard to read, and the rest is even more rubbed off over 200 years. There are two touch marks, one on either side of the handle: one is E R with a crown in the middle and one is WR under a crown. There are also the letters LCC and 239. Which I believe means the region. W R means it is made to the pre-imperial William III ale standard. ER is an enigma. May be William and Mary?The measure is quite heavy(I believe this one contains lead) and in good shape for its age. There are some marks on the rim and faint dings consistent with age. This measure came from a collector’s estate. With a note that said“18 th century. That is an attractive pewter charger with a good finish. This charger has a nice single reeded rim and a turned body. The charger is a lovely example of a very early revolutionary War period marked American pewter charger. This mark is listed in"GUIDE TO AMERICAN PEWTER" By Carl Jacobs, page 136; where it identifies this mark as#214. A 14 inch diameter pewter charger was a rare size in 1957 and a charger with this mark was valued at $225 back in 1957. I offer this example with the opening bid the reserve. Antique Pewter Half Pint Measure This measure has several marks. But I have not been able to identify who the maker is. I've attempted to describe the markings below and have provided photos that show all of these marks. Stamped: 1/2 Pint" Imperial" Also, poorly stamped but legible is"Suffolk" as well as three letters/numbers inside of a circle. The first letter is clearly"D" the second is questionable, and the third is"3" Stamped on inside bottom: A crown. With an"X" underneath. The measure stands 3 3/4" tall. And measures 2 3/4" across the base. It appears to have seen a good amount of use during its life. It is very sturdy, but has a faintly lopsided posture and asymmetrical feel.

Antique Pewter Hot Water Bed Warmer, Marked
Pewter bed-warmer foot-warmer with bronze fittings. Which measures 11 inches long by 8 inches wide by 5 inches tall. It has repairs at the seam, and those repairs are responsible for this old appliance being available to us today. If the leaks were not repaired, it would have been discarded by its earliest owner. Unique attic find. Found in a lot of items dating from 1890 to 1930's. Matched set of 4 pewter candle holders. Marked"Genuine Pewter BW 26" on adverse. Each measures 5 x 3.5 x 2 inches. I have not attempted to aggressively clean these fine antique items and offer in'as found' condition. As you know pewter is a soft metal. All show some bends and scratches consistent with their age, see photos. Some staining noted in places, likely matchburns that should buff out. A most excellent addition to your collection!

FRENCH PEWTER WINE TASTER - MARKED ETAINS DU MANOIR
What a beautiful gift for any wine connoisseur– a lovely French vintage pewter tastevin(wine taster) with the French fleur de’ les relief inside. It is stamped Etains Du Manior and Paris France on the back. The snake handle gives a unique look to the piece. The weight is 3.5 ounces and diameter without handle is 3 inches. This petite wine taster has been in my cabinet for several years. It is not new. It belonged to my mother in law. I believe it to be pewter as there is no silver mark.

Reduced 20% to $79 obo: Set of Six Antique Marked and Matched Pewter Pap Boats
Here is a set of six quite old pewter pap boats. They are in very good condition. Having been well cleaned throughout their useful lives. The bowl of each carries a maker’s mark. But the years of cleaning have removed the detail necessary to tie them to a specific maker. The crowned‘X’ ris legible. But the marks below are not. I suspect they date from the early 1800s. These are particularly heavy pap boats that will add greatly to any collection of early utensils or everyday pewter objects. Please read on… A pap boat is a small receptacle for feeding pap to infants and invalids. The typical form is boat-shaped. Having the feeding end shaped as a short lip or an extended tapering lip to be placed on ... morethe mouth of the person being fed, and the holding end somewhat incurved and usually without a handle. Occasionally there is a flat handle or a vertical loop handle. The'pap boat' was designed to feed the'pap' to babies and invalids. The term'pap' Allegedly derived from the Scandinavian for the sound made when a baby opens his mouth for nourishment, was probably introduced before its first recordings in literature in the mid 18th century. Recipes for pap usually called for bread, flour and water. A more nourishing mixture, panada' was a pap base with added butter and milk, or cooked in broth as a milk substitute. Variations on the ingredients included Lisbon sugar, beer, wine, raw meat juices and Castile soap. Drugs were sometimes added to'soothe the baby' Resembling a sauce boat(or sometimes a small bed-pan) They were made of wood, silver, pewter, bone, porcelain or glass. They ranged from very plain, for poor families or foundling homes, to highly decorated pieces for wealthier clients.
