PAIR OF 19TH CENTURY BRASS PUSH UP CANDLESTICKS CANDLE STICKS
Nice pair of pushup candlesticks from the 1800's made of brass. They are called pushup candlesticks because of the center mechanism which allowed the candle to be"pushed up" as it burnt down so the entire candle could be burned instead of leaving a short stub. We are offering a pair of 7 3/4" tall antique brass candlesticks. Which were apparently made from sheet brass and molded and fromed. The brass is thin and there are some very tiny dents, which might be expected from age and use, but we don't think they are large enough to show up in our pictures. On the bottom the brass wraps around a heavier metal base. The metal is not iron because it does not have rust. It may be tin or some lead alloy. The main body of the the candlesticks are very ornate and neither has any damage. We have seen soom like these for sale but the do not have the ornate body or the lead like bases. Up for auction is a pair of antique brass candelabras which measure 14 inches long and 8 inches high. Each candelabra is adorned with glass or crystal(not sure) flowers followed by 2 1/2 inch long prisms and the candle base is surrounded by double strung glass multifaceted prisms. Towards the bottom center arm of both candelabras. There are two holes where glass prisms are missing. This can easily be replaced with new ones of your choice. Stunning Pair C.1850 Square Base BRASS CANDLESTICKS
Here is a wonderful pair of beautiful old stepped square base brass candlesticks from C. 1850. They are in very good condition. These were originally assembled with a central iron rod that is screwed tight at the base with a round nut. The only problem I have found is one consistent with their age. There is a short split(about 1 inch) in the brass in one section on one candlestick. Probably someone in the past tightened it too much. But it still stands and looks great. The other stick is fine. They both have minor oxidation spots and other age appropriate wear. We have not cleaned them. They measure 9 inches tall and have 3-inch square bases. DESCRIPTION: Here is a fine set of antique English brass candlesticks marked with a registration number of Rd 223580. My research tells me that is from 1893. Both have the push up mechanisms but they are stuck and look a little crusty. The sticks themselves look very good considering their age. They came from an estate sale off the mantle of a very fine home. They are not exactly the same height. One is 9-3/4 inches tall and the other is 9-5/8 inches tall. The taller one weighs 15.8 ounces the other weighs 13.7 ounces. The shorter one has more wear to ... morethe beaded edges. Almost worn smooth, and it sits a little off kilter, a little wobble if you will. Some little nicks/dents and expected surface wear. If the push up comes up through it is covered with old crusty wax. The taller one has a bit of dark wax on it's base and you can see the push up coming up the top. Has expected small nicks/dents and surface wear. The cut corner bases are 3-7/16 inches with the taller one being more perfectly square. The other is 1/16 shorter one on side. The candle opening is also a bit wider on the taller one. Overall they make a wonderful antique appearance. Please inspect all 12 photos closely. Use the zoom tool, the pictures are an important part of my description and condition description. Middle Ages to the 20 th century. Exceeds that of any other country. Nearly all of the motifs of this fine pair are typically Empire(1800-1815) But they date from the Restauration/Charles X period. From a technical point of view. This formal pair is interesting, because they mark a transitional period, using earlier techniques- lathed feet, and extensive, hand-incised details- with post-1820 central iron shafts(which do, however, exhibit quite a bit of hand-work) These thin iron rods were only in use for a short period– by the mid-19 th century. French artisans had undoubtedly become aware of how fragile this type of construction was, and switched to a more massive rod stock. Beware

Carrying large basket.Both plates have what appears to be handwritten letters on back- CH CLN. Girl's plate has numbers 636 stamped in old-fashioned font towards center of back of plate;Boy's plate is probably 634, although it could be 684, stampe in same place on back. Both plates have a single handmade wire loop soldered to back for hanging. I can date these to somewhere in the mid- to late fifties, thanks to the previous owner, but have no idea who the manufacturer or artist was.

George Betjemann& Sons were high quality makers/retailers of ladies and gents boxes. Desk top items and other fine accessories during the Victorian period with a showroom on the Pentonville Road in London. The candlesticks have the faint impressed marks of the Company and diamond registration mark to the underneath of the drip pans. They have been handed down through several generations of the family. CONDITION: There are several small nicks from age and use. The base on is dented in slightly which makes it out of round(I have tried to show this in the pictures) The other one is slightly raised where the base top screws into the base. It will unscrew but won't screw in all the way due to old polish build up on the screw part. It might be able to be cleaned so it can be tightened. They do need a good polishing. One Pair of VINTAGE Brass CONQUISTADOR STIRRUPS w. Great Seal of BRAZIL
We are offering for your consideration these matching brass conquistador styled stirrups. We know that the prior owner was a US diplomat living in Brazil many years ago and were told these came from there. The tops of the stirrup have been carved with the Great Seal of Brazil or at least a facsimile of that logo. Manufacturer: Unknown Place of Manufacture: South America Size: 11 ½” long. 4 1/8” wide, and 4 5/8” tall. Condition: One corner of the“sole” of one of the stirrups had been broken off. It was soldered back in place and the original drainage port on the same stirrup was soldered over to turn into a wall vase. See the photos for more detail of condition. Notes: No markings of manufacturer or other numbers found. Your questions are most welcome.
