SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Height: 288 millimeters(11 1/2 inches) Diameter: 95 millimeters(3 3/4 inches) at belly; 80 millimeters(3 1/4 inches) at top of neck(below rim) 53 millimeters(2 1/8 inches) at top lip; 65 millimeters(2 5/8 inches) at base. CONDITION: Excellent. Modest oxidation to ceramic glaze. A little bit of chipping to the rim and to the pedestal. Slight age crazing(crackling” to the ceramic glaze. Otherwise just the minor bumps and bruises consistent with prolonged burial in the earth. The normal potting blemishes associated with hand production. Missing the original lid. The neck is crooked. It appears as if it started“drooping” while in the kiln. DETAIL: A glazed earthenware funerary jar from the Song Dynasty of Ancient China. These were used to leave offerings of rice. Wine, or some other gift for the deceased. The light green glaze became known as“Celadon Green” so named for the color– and is one of the most celebrated styles of ancient China. The lower portion of the neck possesses a circumferential display of human figures, believed to represent the deceased’s family or ancestors. Above the ring of figures wrapping around the circumference of the neck is a depiction of a dragon. With respect to this particular specimen, the glaze shows some minor oxidation(decomposition) due to caustic alkalinity of soil in which it was buried. Though the majority of the glaze remains intact. Glossy, and smooth to touch, there are a few lightly oxidized patches where the glaze is a bit rough and chalky to the touch. HAMS, diamond mark and 3591, Beautiful mottled patina gives this vase a richness that can only be achieved over time, Uncommon design which we were unable to find anywhere else, Size: Height: 8 1/8" to 8 1/4" Widest diameter: 3 3/8" to 3 1/2" Base diameter: 2 1/2" ... moreCondition: The rolled rim of this vase is crooked and has a small dent. There are two small dents in the base and a larger one in the side. Please see our photos below. The following five photos are of the two dents in the base or lowest part of the vase's side. The following three photos are all of the same dent in the side of the vase. Below is the photo of the small dent in the rim. This lovely Heintz Art Metal vase has the cylindrical form with rolled top or flange. It has a rather intricate Art Nouveau floral. Possibly iris, design that reminds us of some of the Tiffany windows. Otto Heintz patented his technique for applying sterling silver to his bronze pieces without any solder which is the 1912 patent date seen on much of his work. This vase measures a little more than 8 inches tall and it has a lovely mottled patina that will only get better with time. Consistent with Heintz numbering system, this vase has the production number 3591. Numbers between 3500 and 3800 were reserved for vases and single-weight bowls. Old Antique Vintage Copper Metal Vase, German / Germany Pre-World War II
Up for auction is a copper vase. It stands about 10 inches high. The base is 3.25 inches diameter, the lip is 4” diameter. The bottom has a hallmark and the words“Made in Germany. Since it is old and used and not new. It being sold in“as is”condition. Carefully view the photographs to see its exact condition. I’m not sure how old it is; but it was made before the War because if it were made after it would specify“East Germany" or"West Germany. I obtained it around 1978. I don't know what the maker's hallmark signifies. It can use a cleaning. Has some normal wear and tear including minor scratches. The base shows damage in the form of a 1 1/8 inch impression. Auction description A beautiful decorative object. This quite small metal vase in the French neo-classical style of the Napoleon period(ca. 1800-1830) The detailing, very fine, is just like a full size vase of the Napoleon/Empire period, and the basic form, of course, is the"Medici vase" popular since the 17th century. This little gem was made at some point during the 19th century, perhaps circa 1830 or so, perhaps later in the century when the style was revived. Provenance is a recent auction at the Hotel Drouot of Paris. Dimensions are about 3.5 inches by 3 inches. There is a small dent/ metal flaw at the top rim. Antique Vase - decorated bronze, Smith Metal Arts Co, Arts & Crafts movement
I have posted a vintage. Bronze and brass vase made by the Smith Metal Arts Company made sometime in 1919-1925( The vase was formed in bronze with an applied, not soldered, floral design in brass. The impressed mark on the bottom reads: 2039. Silver Crest was the trademark used by the Smith Metal Arts Company that was formed by Frederick Smith around 1919. After the death of master craftsman and patent holder, Otto Heintz. The hallmark featured on the bottom of the vase is the traditional"Silver Crest Decorated Bronze" with an early. Minuscule Smith Metal Arts Company logo in the center. There is one small. Shallow dent on the right side of the floral brass pattern about 7 inches from the bottom, as shown in the last photo. Old 1890 Japanese Patinated Bronze Mixed Metal Shakudo Nagowa 11in Signed Vase
This item is a ca. 1890 Japanese Mixed Metal Shakudo 11in Patinated Bronze Vase from the Nagowa Factory. With an applied silver moon, overlaid with a copper stylized bird, and with the vase in excellent overall condition. Vase is in excellent overall condition, but does have some slight scuffs in the patinated bronze finish. There are no dents, and we have not attempted to clean the patinated bronze surface in any significant way. We did polish the silver moon, as it was black with tarnish. The beak and underbelly of the bird may also be tarnished silver, but we have chosen to leave those alone and as found, and everything else on the surface of the metal is exactly as found, when we purchased the vase at a recent Midwest estate auction. Again, just to clarify, we polished only the moon, and nothing else on the vase. The vase stands 10-3/4 ... moreinches tall, it weighs 3.85 lbs without packaging materials, it is bottom marked with the distinctive seal of the Nagowa factory, and it is also signed on the side of the vase in Japanese, as we are showing in the attached photos. The vase is exactly as pictured and described, as best we can determine from on-line research. We purchased the vase at a recent Midwest estate auction, exactly as you see it in the attached photos, and have not significantly cleaned the surface. Here you have a very ornate. Highly detailed metal vase. I am unsure of the metal, but believe it to be a bronze colored brass and very heavy. I am also unsure of the age, it appears very old. The handles are adorned with female figures and at the base on each side a male head. The front and back also show two scenes of ladies in dance. It is 15 inches tall and about 8 inches wide. This fantastic 19th century Aesthetic Movement Epergne Card Receiver measures about 16-1/4" tall. The cast Iron& Spelter section measures about 7-3/4" tall. The top and bottom of the base is cast iron the owl section is spelter or white metal. The glass vase section is actually cut along the rim not molded as pictured. The edge of the vase is a chipped just a bit and there is patina to the metal. It is really a beauty and I have not seen another like it.

Silver Crest and other bronze with silver overlay items. This collection was housed in a beach house for many years and the salt air has caused a green oxidation to the patina in some areas as well as pitting to the metal in some cases. The tag stated the design of the details were derived from the art of architecture of India. I am assuming they are copper coated but not 100% sure since when purchased it doesn't indicate the metal. The bottoms have felt. Will sell as one or you may want to purchase both. The shipping will be higher than normal because of the size. Beautiful accents- artificial limbs with lights would set these off!
