The brass lion heads are securely riveted in place. There is some surface rust on the inside from use. It has a great patina that I left alone. 19th C. True Miniature Hand Dovetailed Copper Jam Pot Salesman Sample Planter?
Welcome to my auction! Offering for your consideration- Offering this extremely rare 19th century true miniature dovetailed copper trough jam pan pot? Rectangular Salesman sample planter? Well made. Hand dovetailed with melted brass used on to seal the seams on the exterior(to leak proof? Also has a hand forged wrought iron rectangular ring placed inside the rolled down copper rim. This ring is approx. 1/4" in diameter and has minor rusting and as shown in the close-up images of the underside of the rim. In very good sturdy condition scattered denting and light surface wear as shown. The scratches seen on the bottom of the interior are light surface wear only. The small various sized dark spots are from a dried gooey substance like jam or jelly or syrup that has there for a long time. I completely removed a few of these spots and lightened ... morea few more. They are removable with a good cleaning product like BarKeeper's friend. Measures 5 7/8" long by 2 1/2" tall by 3" wide. With handle 12" tall. bottom width is 8 3/4' the top opening is 6" Quaility and heavy has 2 small holes on bottom for draining. It's hard to see the craftsmenship, dovetailed seam/cramped, because of the verdigris patina.
