Beautifully decorated vintage "Motoring & Hiking" map of Wiltshire & surrounds
A beautifully decorated cover measuring 5" x 7" which folds out to a map measuring 27" x 22" It is based on the Ordance Survey Map for the area and shows"first class roads" in the days before A and B roads. Wonderful to see no motorways on this map! Also marks youth hostels so it would be an interesting exercise to see if any of those were still operating. By the illustration on the cover this map is from the 1920's amd is in very good condition for its age- as mentioned there is 1" at the bottom of the spine which is torn. The areas covered can be seen from the photograph.

Whose population had scarcely risen during the 19th century and stood at 3,162 in 1901(though many of these lived outside the town itself) Our map covers the town centre and extends west to the station, Ashford Vineyard and Perry Farm.
