1941 Conn 22B New York Symphony, nice player w/excellent engraving
This listing is for a 1941 Conn 22B New York Symphony in great playing condition(serial# 342xxx) It is not a"closet special. and shows definite signs of use and wear, but overall, it is a nice trumpet with an exceptional engraving(looks like it's never seen a buffer) I have included plenty of high resolution photos, so be sure to check them out. All slides pull, valves are excellent(see photos) trumpet sounds sweet and smokey. If you're looking for a solid playing, vintage Conn-the pre-Victor 22Bs rank among some of the best trumpets ever made, IMHO-then read on: For its playing characteristics: it's from 1941. So, if you are expecting it to blow like a modern, medium larger bore horn, you'll likely be disappointed. I believe the bore was.438 back then, so it's easy to fill up, but it's not a horn you'll want ... moreto be banging out double-Cs all night on. The valves on this horn are, IMHO, exceptionally smooth(for the period) shiny and crisp, have good compression, and a nice feel for their age(they are bottom sprung like all 22Bs from the period, though, so they're naturally clunkier than, say, a modern horn's) The third valve slide-move fine, but feels tight to my hands-is about the only thing I'd say is at all a playability issue; it's an easy enough fix if it's important to you, but, again, I've left it as I bought it. Cosmetics/issues: 1) There is a patch on the leadpipe. Which does not affect playability. I spoke with my tech a couple years back about replacing the pipe, but she said there was no point, since, though not the prettiest repair in the world(see pictures) functionally it's perfectly fine. I purchased the horn for how it played, so I left it as is, It appears as though the leadpipe was bent at some point, then straightened and patched, but, again, doesn't affect how the horn plays; 2) Whatever remained of the lacquer was removed at some point. I'm sure they would shine up if you wished to polish them but they do have a ni c e patina so I'll leave that to you. Wonderful Gold Plated Conn 22B 1932 Elaborate Engraving A & Bb Trumpet & Case MP
Wonderful looking and good playing 1932 vintage Conn 22B trumpet outfit up for bids here. This horn has elaborate engraving on bell and is gold plated. Serial number 250073 and it comes with original case. Cleaning rod, A-Bb slide, Bb only slide, Conn gold plated BI 222 mouthpiece and a mouthpiece adapter. Horn itself has some dents at 3rd slide bow and bow of rotary tuning mechanism(which works great) on A& Bb slide. The Bb only slide has been patched on upper leg and has some pinholes on bow above water key. Looks like a solder repair was done at lower ferrule on 2nd slide at some time in its history. The case is worn and a bit rough on the interior but latches are good and exterior is not bad. Valves have some lacquering discoloration and etching as seen in last photo. compression is not bad at all for its age and it plays with good ... moretone with regular valve oil. Please view the many photos. This is a great looking horn overall and a good player. RARE early Elkhart cornet in case lots of engraving neat old mouthpiece
I will be listing a bunch of old instruments from an estate. First of all let me make it clear I know nothing about instruments I've never played one so ask questions and I took lots of pictures but don't assume anything. This one is neat and RARE the only one like it on ebay. This has lots of neat engraving on the bell with the old elk inside of a heart then it says Elkhart. Indiana. the valves work easily and it looks complete. It does have some old repairs amd minor dings but nothing bad. The bell is 4.5 across and the serial number is 20* if that helps you date it. Any additional info you may have on this would be greatly appreciated. When this is restored it will be a great piece for any collector.

His works describing insects assigned many of the insect taxa still in use today. Latreille was born into a humble family of Brive-la-Gaillarde. Corrèze, and in 1778 entered the College Lemoine in Paris. He was ordained a priest in 1786 and then went back to Brive, where he spent all of his free time studying insects. In 1788 he returned to Paris and became active in the scientific community there, his Mémoire sur les mutilles découvertes en France gaining him admission to the Society for Natural History. As can be seen the edges are soiled with the remains of glue where it was originally attached to a picture frame BUT does not affect the actual engraving which is just perfect! Amsterdam in 1661. This masterwork of cartography is in very good condition with what I believe to be period coloring. Albeit slightly faded. It was housed in a simple wooden frame behind glass. Hondius grew up in Ghent, where he was apprenticed to an instrument and globe maker and engraver. He fled religious persecution in the Low Countries in 1584 to the safety of Queen Elizabeths London, but eventually settled in Amsterdam in 1593. Probably because of his time in London, he was chosen by John Speed to engrave the maps for his great atlas, The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain, between 1605 and 1610. In 1604. Plate mark impression size 15 x 9.5 cm. Total paper size 17 x 11.5 cm. Has on back side handwritten text- can not understand- please look at last photo. Very good condition- Sharp impression with some light foxing in the blank margins. Meisner's emblem book. Containing over 800 pictorial-poetic compositions, was enormously popular throughout Europe in the 17th century. The plan views were based on the work of De Bry, Braun& Hogenberg, Merian and others ... morewith the addition of emblematic figures or scenes in the foreground, juxtaposed with moralizing and edifying verses beneath the image and a Latin motto at top. It was originally issued with 52 plates as the Thesaurus philo-politicus in 1623-24. After Meisner's death in 1625. Eberhard Kieser, with assistance from Johann L. Gottfried, completed the work and published it until 1631. The plates then appeared in the eight parts of Sciographia Cosmica published by Paulus Furst between 1637-78. Up for sale from my personal collection is a 1936 King Zephyr Tenor Sax in Finish II(silver satin finish. Gold bell) This sax is a very original prime example of a good King. The tone on this horn isnt comparable to any Selmer or Conn which is why these horns keep actually selling! The tone is like a freight train going down the highway louder then my VI or my 10m. This horn has had a FULL OVERHAUL including a full breakdown/rebuild. Body cleaning, pad job, key heigh adjustment, etc, etc. I see auctions all over talking about horns ready to play but have 50 years old pads. Rest assure this horn is fully gig ready to play out of the box. The sax will ship in a protect case packed bombproof. Ergonomics on this sax are pretty decent. Engraved from end to end on the bell with a gorgeous lady face! All current Restoration work to this instrument was done by Michael Del Quadro of. The instrument up for consideration had 90% of the original burnished goldplate. It has suffered a few resolders over the years by less than skilled technicians that have left some bare spots in the plating. I have done my best to clean up these repairs to make them look as good as possible. I do not believe these spots take away from the instrument very much.
