This Curtis Jere wall art sculpture is probably as close to its original finish as possible. When this piece came to us. It was not broken, but was badly scratched(see photos) so we hired a former professional artist to restore it. He worked for many years in central California as a commissioned artist working in metal sculpture among other media. We will provide a certificate of restoration from the artist as well as his appraisal of its retail value of $1500 for insurance purposes. This sculpture has been signed on the front by Jere and retains its original factory sticker on the back. This particular sculpture does not appear to come up for sale often. Dimensions are 57 inches ... morelong and 26 inches tall. It is assembled from two pieces and mounts on the wall with three mounting brackets and three stand-offs. We carefully weighed the matter of having this sculpture restored. Some are of the opinion that it seriously diminishes the value of a piece. It was our conclusion that the finish was so badly scratched that only by restoring it would it be appreciated once again. The restoration expert did such a wonderful job. Being careful not to do any more than was necessary, this piece should be considered as excellent. As for shipping. We want to consider this a piece of artwork, not just a wall hanging. Its protection during shipping is a prime concern to us. For this reason, the restoration artist is constructing a custom packing crate for shipping. D'Anville's map, and by extension this revision of that map by Bolton and Postlethwayte, represents a serious attempt to compile all of the accurate scientific knowledge of the South American continent available at the ... moretime. While cartographically very similar to D'Anville's map, Postlethwayte's work is a full re-engraving in which all text has been translated to English, a new cartouche of a rococo ethic incorporated, and Postlethwayte's own fascinating Anglo-centric commentary added.
