Vintage 1941 Linen-Backed Map. SE London & Sevenoaks. OS Sheet 115. WWII. RAF/Q
This is a 1941 War Office map which was cleared from the estate of a man who flew as a Lancaster bomber pilot during WWII. This is a map of South East London which extends south to Sevenoaks in Kent. This is Ordinance Survey Map sheet 115 and is indicated as Section Q of RAF flight command. This has been folded for a long time. But it is in very good overall condition. There are some oil marks to the map where it has been handled by flight personnel and some pencil marks to which seem to have been made by a navigator. Very interesting genuine WWII map which has been out on active service. Pic#5 shows the reverse of the map. Format when unfolded: 32.25 x 24.5 inches/ 82 x 62.5 cms

It's on antiqued sepia-toned parchment, measures about 18" by 12" and depicts a centuries-old map of the city that appears to be from the 1500s or 1600s. 1903 Vintage London Underground Map (in Thomas Cook Guide to London 1906)
The District Railway Miniature Map of London circa 1903(approximate date based on edition. Pre dates guide by a couple of years) Vintage Original London Underground map. Still bound within Cook's Guide to London(Thomas Cook) Designed by WE Soar. A fascinating and rare Underground map. Which predates the unification of the Underground lines into one system(and one map) I believe this is the 6th Edition. At this time, some of the underground lines still operated steam locomotives(shown in the map key) though it is amazing to think a large part of the underground network had been electrified while horses were still pulling carts above ground! This was one of a very few maps that were produced by the forward thinking District Railway company to assist passengers negotiate the underground network. The book itself. Cook's Guide to London ... moredated 1906, is a wonderful piece of history and in decent condition. The Map of London has come away but still present and the books bindings are a bit worn but doesn't detract from the intrigue and insight it provides of a time when London was the jewel of the empire and seen as the most powerful city in the world. the map is in remarkable condition- no tears. Discoloration or foxing at all and still attached to the guide book. Incredible when you consider its age. Wonderful piece of London Underground history. Available to anyone in the world.

This is very large– measures 50” wide by 40” tall. I believe this was hanging in a station for passengers to see where they are and how all the lines cross. This is not one that folds up for pocket use. This was found folded in a desk drawer. There is some tears. Tape on front and back, and a corner missing. I picked up this map during a trip to London in the mid-2000's. It's survived the 10 years since in a scrapbook away from sunlight. Featured on the cover is'The Magic River Thames Lady with Jewels' by Zandra Rhodes. Commissioned by the London Underground in 2002.
