Up for auction is this vintage London road map. It is entitled"The Up-to-Date Road Map 30 Miles About London. It was published by Geographia. Ltd of London, Britain UK. This map was from my father's estate. He served in the US Army during WWII and was stationed in England, preparing for the D-Day invasion. Although there is no date on the map, it would have to have been published in the late 1930s to early 1940s- certainly before 1944. Folded. The map cover measures 6 1/2" x 4" Unfolded, it measures 22" x 17 1/4" There are n o tears or marks on map. Corners of cover show some curling. Some marks on front cover as pictured. Further decorative touches include galleons in the sea, compass roses with rhumb lines, coats-of-arms, etc. And this is an excellent example in good condition with lovely original handcolouring.
