West of Glasgow in Scotland, was published in the first edition of John Slezer's' Theatrum Scotiae' 1693. This is an important and rare print as Slezer s Theatrum Scotiae is one of the earliest records of early Scottish towns. Dunkeld is situated on the north bank of the River Tay and is surrounded by the lush wooded hills of Perthshire. The town ... moreand its sister town of Birnam(which lies on the southern bank of the river) have a deep rooted history. Dunkeld emerged as a centre of Christianity during the 7th Century. When Columba came over from Iona, and much work was carried out by his successors. In the 9th Century, Kenneth MacAlpin, the first King of Scots, made Dunkeld head of the Celtic Church and capital of the newly-formed nation created by the union of the Scots and the Picts. The Church grew in power and wealth and the Cathedral, started in 1325, was extremely important in ecclesiastical terns until the Reformation in the 16th Century, when it was destroyed. The Choir of the Cathedral was re- roofed in 1600 to serve as the parish church, and there was relative peace until 1689, when there was a short, but extremely violent Battle between the Jacobites and the Cameronians(a newly-raised regiment supporting William of Orange) and most of Dunkeld was burned to the ground. The re-building was slow. But once again Dunkeld became an important centre, this time as a market town and a place of much commercial bustle, since it was here that cattle-droving roads met. Vintage rye ceramic pottery jug made by Buchan. Portobello, Scotland. Stamped on bottom and numbered 6/26 A. I am not really familiar with the brand. I just know it has been in my family for(guessing) at least 75 years. I can't find.another one like it, so I don't know what else to say about it. The bottom is ivory and the top is pink. Unfortunately, when I went to lift it by the handle, it broke off. As you can see, if you glue it back on, it looks fine. Otherwise this very old jug is in fine vintage condition. If you look closely, you can see the rings from the potters wheel. Very heavy. 8" high x 4 1/2" wide where the handle is.

ANTIQUE Vintage England/Scotland Gothic Oak Wood Serving Tray. With glass insert, that is in very good vintage estate condition with minor marks from usage. The tray has been well taken care of. Wonderful patina and grain in the oak wood. I purchased the tray from Canada but believe that the tray was made in either England or Scotland. The tray could also be a Victorian piece but I am not sure. Dimensions of the tray are: 16.5" Width. 25" Length. Weighs 5.2 USA lbs. WELL MADE. The bottom wood plate is held to the upper frame with six screws. 2 screws are missing. However, the tray is quite stable with no worry of the glass falling out. please see photos. Beautiful Antique Carved Mahogany Frame W/Print Behind Wavy Glass From Scotland
This auction is for a very old carved mahogany frame with the very old"wavy glass" over a pretty print from Scotland. The colors and details on this print is good for it being close to 100 years old or older. The Frame is the Star of this Auction. It has pretty floral carving on each side with the corners looking similiar to a Greek Key design. The frame is in Good overall condition but not excellent or mint. It has some scuff marks and scratches on the frame. But not that many considering it's age& travels. The glass on the frame is perfect and it's the old style"wavy glass" A person could trash the print& put some of their family portraits or pictures in the beautiful frame. RARE. Antique, Cast Iron 1914"Singer" Kilting/Pleating Machine Model 49K3, Manufactured In Clydebank Scotland(SEE ALL 12-PHOTOS) Very nice overall condition. The"wheel" and all of the"gears" still turn and operate smoothly& effortlessly. The"cloth roller" has some rips& tear in it. The machine has not been cleaned up whatsoever. It has a nicely aged appearance with all of the decades of patina still remaining. 1914 Singer 49K3(SEE PHOTO#7) kilting/pleating machine. The only information I could find online was this: This machine is f or kilting or pleating aprons. Shirt fronts or any class of material in which pleating is used. The pleating may be made either continuous or alternative. By means of screw studs inserted in the ratchet spacing wheel, the tucking blade may be suspended at intervals ... morewhile the feed rolls carry the material forward, thus producing groups of pleats followed by plain material. The model 49K1 pleats 1/8” to 7/8” in material up to 10” in width. Model 49K2 pleats 1/16” to 7/16” in material up to 10” in width. Serial No. F5038440(SEE PHOTO#8) dates this machine from January 1914- June 1914. With a total run of 200 units being manufactured at the Clydebank Scotland factory. Measurements: The crank-wheel is 8" diameter. The base measures 15-1/4" wide x 7-1/4" deep. The general height is 13" and 14-1/2" tall to the top of the crank-wheel.
