Antique Red Transferware Adams "Seasons" Plate Hunting Scene Scotland 1830's
This beautiful antique trasnferware plate by Adams is in the Seasons pattern produced in the 1830's. It says"January" on the lower part of the pattern. Then there are season listed around the scalloped edge. It is a hunting scene against a Scottish castle. In terms of condition, it appears to be quite nice for it's age. I did find a chip on the back, which is photographed. There is a bit of light crazing and some slight discoloration on the back as well. On the very rim, there is one spot that has a bit of discoloration, it looks like a missed bit of glaze that has gotten discolored. The front is very nice, the only thing I can see is a utensil mark when the plate is turned just right. Plate measures 7 1/2 inches across. Thanks for looking! Here is a wonderful antique Music Song book from 1888. It's entitled Songs of Scotland- 78 Beautiful Standard Scotch Songs and was published by White-Smith Music Pub. Co. Boston. New York, Chicago and below this the copyright date. I looked through the book and there are a number written by Robert Burns. I also found one by Sir Walter Scot, Lady Lindsay, Hugh Conway and many more. This is in pretty good condition for it's age. The cover is worn especially near the spine with small tears. Inside. The cover is only attached to the book by about 1/2 of the paper with the rest having tears but the music itself is great. There are no marks, creases, or stains and they are all secured strongly to the spine. The back cover also has some wear near the spine and the tips of the corners are bent. This is a antique violin. I understand it to be of 19th century Scottish origin, it was found in a pub clearance with a few others in Edinburgh. It is quite unusual, no purfling and the back is made from an unusual wood, not quite sure what it is. It has a lovely golden patina and a deeply carved scroll. The back measures 36cm. This is a gorgeous handmade original vintage Scottish Highlands fishing scotsman tapestry from 1934. It is signed Alma and dated 1934. It is made multicoloured cotton and wool threads. It is so very intricately detailed. The scotsman is fishing in a loch in the highlands. He is in his boat and fish are surrounding his boat and jumping out of the water. He is wearing his kilt and Tam O Shanter cap/ hat. This tapestry measures 23 inches by 20 inches. Including the jute border. It measures 25 inches by 32 1/2 inches. The box is made of sycamore wood and measures 3-3/4 inches wide, 2-5/8 inches deep and 1-5/8 inches high. There is a single compartment inside. Mercator's calculations and map designs redefined the 16th century concept of cartography and were the first to break away from the Ptolemy model. Many of his systems of measurement. Such as the Mercator Projection, are still in use today. Despite his prominence as a cartographer, he started his career as a crafter of scientific instruments. He did not construct his first map until 1540, when he made two maps, one of Flanders and another of Palestine. These two impressive works earned him the patronage of the Emperor Charles V, for whom he construed a globe and several large scale maps. Despite this imperial patronage, Mercator was accused of heresy and in 1552 fled to Duisburg. In Duisburg he set himself up as a cartographer and began work on his revised edition of Ptolemy's Geographia. This three volume work was the first book to be called an"Atlas" after the Titan

Vintage Pictorial Story Map of Scotland 1935 rare antique Wall Art Unique Gift
Beautiful illustrated old story map of Scotland by Colortext Publications. Chicago, 1935. Map measures 17 inches x 13 1/2 inches. The map has so much visual detail. The borders include a variety of plaids. And you can read the name of the plaid underneath some of them- the print is quite small, and on some, the printing is quite faint. The map shows a lot of animals and people. The map is in fair condition with some issues. It is well worn and has wear and bending to the corners. It also has small pinholes at each of the corners. There are a some tears on the edges. There are several creases/wrinkles in the map. The back has some sort of ink drawing. And you can see a hint of the shadow from that ink through the front. The map looks to have yellowing from age. This is a beautiful Scotland wall hanging map. It would make a lovely. Unique Christmas ... moregift. It's like a work of art. I am not a map expert. Up for bid is an antique cardboard souvenir fish containing ten"accordion" style pictures that fold up inside the fish. The pictures include Jamaica Bridge. Municipal Building, Royal Exchange, Great Western Road, The Kelvin In Botanical Gardens, Charing Cross, Corporation Art Galleries(one picture inside, one picture outside) West End Park, Glasgow University and Glasgow Cathedral. The pictures are black and white, labeled and are 2 inches by 1 1/4 inches. The fish is 9 inches long and has some creases and wear on his tail and a small(1/4 inch) piece missing from his tail on one side. There is a hole by his gills for perhaps a hang string. Vintage Antique Ballantines Liqueur Scotch Whisky Scotland Wooden Crate w/Lid
I've sold countless numbers of these wood shipping crates and very seldom do you ever get the lid with them. This one might be missing that strip of wood. Then again it might not. They often left an opening in the top to make it easier to get the top off. Usually a pry bar was used and the lid got busted into many pieces, that's why they are usually not on the crates. Of course you can remove it if you have plans for it without the lid. Measures 15 1/2 x 13 x 9 3/4. I have not washed or cleaned the crate, just took a vacume to it to remove the dust. You're invited to bid on this RARE solid sterling silver kilt buckle. This is an authentic Scottish buckle. Made in Scotland, brought to this country by a family long ago. We have a rather large Scottish community here in Bakersfield. This buckle comes from a local estate. The buckle is stamped on the back with"Sterling" and a hallmark which is too small for me to read. The front is a tartan plaid design(like a basket-weave design) and in perfect condition, not so much as a single scratch on the front. The back has some tarnish and a few tiny scratch marks from age, use and polishing. We are offering a one of a kind hand built custom made piece from an estate in Scotland. The artisan was a cabinet maker by trade but this piece he made for his own home and it is something special. It was purchased from the home and so has only had one owner. It was made in Scotland between 1910 and 1920. It is solid walnut with hand carved trim and decorations on the headboard. The shelving brackets are shark tooth carvings and the panels are all beveled. The keys and locks are all working and in place. The piece is 67" long 49" tall and 19* wide. It has extra supports and everything is solid wood even the drawers. He was making this piece to last and to use in his own home. It is beyond beautiful.
