A Little Bit About Robert Morden(c.1650-1703) was a British bookseller, publisher, and maker of maps and globes. He was among the first successful commercial map makers. Between about 1675 and his death in 1703, he was based under the sign of the Atlas at premises in Cornhill and New Cheapside, London. His cartographical output was large and varied. His best known maps are those of South Wales, North Wales and the English Counties first published in a new edition of Camden's"Britannia" in 1695, and subsequently reissued in ... more1722, 1753 and 1772. These maps were based on new information from gentlemen of each county, and were newly engraved. Each had a decorated cartouche, and showed numerous place names[1] Morden also produced in 1701 a series of smaller county maps often known as Miniature Mordens. In 1695 he published a map of Scotland. Antique Geographia World Maps Alexander Gross pre 1922 125 maps
I am offering for sale my own LARGE collection of approx. 125 Alexander Gross Geographia World Maps I believe these all to be of a single publication date of between 1918 and 1922. With earlier Geographia maps having no publication or Cumberland date code I cannot be totally sure of the exact date. However the subject of some of the maps fully support this date. For Instance the maps of the German Colony Repossessions, and Ireland before Partition. These maps were produced centre folded to be edge mounted. But these have always been loose so have not suffered any perforation. There is as expected some edge discolouration and moisture marking on the paper consistent with their age. But this has not affected the quality of the printed image. In fact for 90 plus years old, they are remarkable, with none of the damage to the fold you would normally ... moresee, and no sunlight fading. I initially intend to sell these as one lot. As to find a collection of this size is now very uncommon, and it would be a shame to split. Individual sheets if you look worldwide. Are achieving very good prices of between £15- £40, as they make ideal candidates for framing. These are original vintage maps which were carefully removed from the 1914 printing of The New Encyclopedic Atlas and Gazetteer of the World. The item measures approximately 10 ¾” x 15” and is in very good condition. Your item will be carefully packaged in a cardboard mailing tube. The maps have a copyright date of 1906& 1907 by Dodd. 2 Vintage Road Maps Sohio Oil Gas Company Graphics Car Automobile Transportation
Here's 2 vintage road maps of the state of Ohio from the Sohio Oil Company. Both have a road map of the state on the front on the back are smaller maps of Akron. Cincinnati, Canton, Columbus, Cleveland and others. They are both printed by the Rand McNally Co. and were lithographed in the United States. The white front one has a section showing events of 1978. The other one is not dated at all. It may be 1949. The smaller maps have a number sequence on the bottom of each with 49 as a common number. It is the more attractive one with color picture icons across 4 different state images divided into agriculture, industry, recreational and historical. The first one measures 34-3/4" by 26-1/2" The other one is 31-7/8" by 24-7/8" These both came out of an estate. You are bidding on 2 old gas station maps of New Jersey. The Tydol gasoline one reads"stop at this sign for safe motoring. The Texaco gasoline one reads"the dealer who gives you this map can get you the most comfortable routing for any trip. They appear to be from the 1950s-1960s. Though I can't be sure. I don't think Tydol is even still in business anymore. If you have any questions about specifics let me know. Condition is very good, maybe even excellent. Don't look like they were ever used much. A couple pinprick holes along creases when you open them and a slight 1" tear at one of the ends. Overall very crisp. Kind of cool.

The binding of this book is in terrible condition. However. The maps inside are beautiful and the written portions of the book are most informative. It claims to have twenty-three maps, but I only count twenty. The book was assembled using some sort of cloth tape, and there are a couple of places where it looks like the maps could have been removed. A portion of the title page was also cut out.The book measures a bit over seven by eleven inches. Regardless of the condition of the biding, these maps are beautiful enough and informative enough that they could easily be framed as useful decoration for that study. They certainly make it much easier to understand ancient history and mythological history!

This is an old tour book of Paris France. Dating from the early 1900's. The best part of this book though is the double sided pull-out map. On one side is a street and railway map of Paris. On the other is a birds-eye view of the city showing major points of interest. The map measures about 26" X 22" The book is about 4" X 5.5" The binding is intact but the exterior treatment of the spine has split. There is also a smaller metro map of the city included with the book.

Large 1863 J H Colton General Atlas 180 Steel Plate Maps & Plans No Reserve
Here is a very early atlas from J H Colton.NY. Drawn by G Woolworth Colton, It is for the year 1863. Book measures 15" w x 18" L. The binding is loose and there are a few stains on some of the pages. Most of the maps are decent and it is just missing plate 12 and 14. The Title page along with the pages up to Plate 15 are worn pretty good and loose from the binding. The book needs to be rebound. The majority of the maps could be taken out and framed. The stains on a few of them doesnt affect the map area. Has maps of the States and some individual cities also, Boston, New York, Washington, New Orleans to name a few along with other countries These maps are getting harder to come by and the price for a single map is quite high. 1962 Seattle World's Fair maps by Standard Oil Co. of California NICE!
This is a pair of 1962 Seattle World's Fair maps. The larger map if for Seattle's World's Fair from April 21 to October 21. 1962. It shows the street and vicinity. It is in GREAT shape with crisp folds, etc. It was put out by Chevron Dealers and Standard Stations, Inc. The 2nd map also put out by Standard Oil of California shows the fair grounds with numbers by the exhibits. It has some pencil marks inside and a couple of extra light creases.
