3 x LARGE P & S PLUM DANISH CHEESE LABELS- TILISTER/MUNSTER/GRAND NATIONAL
Amongst recently inherited items I have found an album of cheese labels. From the letters included it would appear that these were collected during the early 1950s. I am therefore listing these labels and will be as honest as I can about them as I have no knowledge of the Cheese Label collecting market and it must be appreciated that these labels are some 60 years old. Here we have three large circular cheese labels which are 8 1/4 inches(209mm) in diameter. From the P& S Plum Danish Cheese factory and titled Tilister. Munster and Grand National Cheese- I have only photographed one of the labels for illustration. It must be pointed out that these labels were folded in half and then in half again to get them to fit in the album so there are two creases- one from side to side and one from top to bottom. Apart from this the labels are in ... moregood condition. All labels were in an album using stamp hinges and therefore it is possible there will be marks on the back of each label. Wherever possible postage discount is given on purchases of various items made at the same time. Two leaves from the 1564 edition of Cosmographen by Sebastian Munster. A German mathematician, cartographer, professor of Hebrew, and was the first mapmaker to produce separate maps of the four known continents. And the first to publish a separate map of England. These leaves are accompanied by a color copy of the datemark. And my origional purchasing paperwork. Munster's Cosmographia was one of the most influential works of his time in his profession. It was printed into five languages and published in forty editions. In German and printed in Basil. These leaves have 4 woodcut coat of arms and a table regarding the Bodensee and Council held at Constanz in 1414. These leaves will be carefully packaged and shipped with tracking and insurance. This particular leaf is from the section on England& Scotland and has three very detailed woodcuts. The woodcuts depict a small medieval battle scene as well wagon with traders and several shields, Old German Fraktur Script is quite amazing.
