14K GOLD FREEMASON'S MASONIC RING WITH SLATE FRAME BLUE ENAMEL DATED INSCRIPTION
We own and operate a small vintage business in a Masonic Lodge formerly known as the Morning Sun. In Western Massachusetts, so this incredible ring is an honor to list for us. It is quite unique. The ring is made of 14k gold. The G is embedded in sapphire blue enamel and is framed and backed with 14k gold on top of black slate that is screwed onto the frame. That being said, the ring may have had changeable inserts. The Masonic symbol measures 5/8" tall x approximately 4/8" wide. There are two flea bites in the slate that were most likely created when the ring was made and are only visible with a loupe, but we are mentioning them to ensure full disclosure. Franklin Lodge No.447 has had four meeting places through out its existance. At first, the meetings took place at 643 Bleeker St. which no longer is a valid address in New York City. In 1861 the Lodge moved to The Odd Fellows Hall, by Grand and Centre St. They remained here until the Masonic Temple at 23rd St. and 6th Avenue could be occupied around May 4th, 1874. And around 1910, The Grand Lodge Building and Masonic Hall were finished right across the street from the old Masonic Temple. We now conduct our meetings in the Corinthian Room of this building.
