A superb good sized sterling silver Armada dish. It is hallmarked for London 1977 with the maker’s marks being those of Aspreys. One of the most highly respected maker/retailer. The tongs are struck in the Queens pattern bear the makers mark for prestigious silversmiths Samuel Hayne& Dudley Carter. Although the mark is quite rubbed, so this is only just identifiable. Hallmarks for London 1853. The tongs weigh approximately 61g and are approximately 5.9" long. Condition wise. The tongs have the usual surface scratches and age wear commensurate with their 160 years of age. They are cast tongs so the casting lines can be seen. I am unsure if there has been a repair, or if the tongs were constructed this way, but there is a clear area of additional silver been added to the inside arms of the tongs, to either support a thinly cast area ... moreor as a subsequent repair. There is no other text that I can see; apparently some are marked"foreign" or"made in Czechoslovakia" so this could possibly be a British made instrument. It is in very good condition. Apart from loss of lacquer, and I can't find any dents or damage. The mouthpiece looks like German Silver but is actually plated brass. there is no writing on the mouthpiece. All the valves are working freely with good springs as are the drain hole levers. I can't play trumpet or even blow a note on one but it looks quite well used which is generally a sign of a good instrument. London WILLIAM IV GILT HILTED COURT SWORD BY SMITH AND FRIMNELL PICCADILLY LONDON- with 80cm slender tapering blade decorated over half of it's length with scrolling foliage. Ormolu hilt comprising ornate shell guard applied with the royal cypher surmounted by a crown, knuckle guard, wire twist grip and pommel in the form of a crown the whole guard finely cast, chased and gilded, together with it's relic scabbard with throat piece marked in script with the makers credentials'SMITH& TRIMNELL, PICCADILLY, LONDON, and long slender chappe(the leather of the scabbard dry and broken) The sword blade discoloured and some light surface pitting, the hilt very good with virtually all of it's original gilded finish and the grip crisp and as new, the scabbard fittings ... moregood retaining about 90% of their guilt.
