Although I cannot find a date anywhere on the map, I believe it's age is circa 1940's, possibly World War II era. Until recently, this map was packed away with a Philips' Road map of Great Britain that I have listed this week in a separate auction. There was other British wartime memorabilia packed with the maps. The Philips' Road map is dated 1943, making it published during World War II. Concerning the pictorial map listed in this auction, it measures 18 3/4 inches wide and 14 3/4 inches high. It is attached to and folds out of a small folder that measures 6 1/8 inches high and 4 inches wide. It reads"The New Pictorial Map of London, An ideal Guide& Souvenir for visitors. A superb display item this fine framed map is by John Ogliby 1600-1676.The road in linear form from London to Hith in com kent, the map dates to 1675, and is plate number 20,The map is approx 42 cms x 33 cms. the frame is approx 46 cms x 36.5 cms in aged oak, the back is sealed but will be opened if the glass is removed for postage please note the glass is cracked midway,it is ready to hang on the wall, it appears to have a water stain on the right hand side top, however it seems to add to its appeal when hung. a beautiful item for a collection, It has come staight from house clearance, Any questions please ask. items marked before postage. It show fascinating detail of the West of London from Cranford to Brentford and Twickemham. The cover is fully intact but somewhat worn and faded as shown in the photograph. The map itself is in fairly good condition with a some yellowing and staining and a few marks but clear. It is approximately 28" by 38" I have tried to show the condition in the photographs.
