This is a lot of 3 maps from the Pennsylvania area. They are: 1. A Sunoco map of Philadelphia and vicinity. Published in 1963. It has a name penciled on the front, very lightly. It is in good condition, with just a couple small tears on folds from usage. 2. A Gulf Tourgide map of PA. DE, MD, VA, and WV. This was published in 1971 and is in good condition also, with just a couple very tiny tears on folds from usage. On the back, are a couple spots.not sure what they are from. 3. A PA map published in 1989. An"Official Transportation Map. This is in like new condition. We are a non-smoking. No pets household. If you have any questions. They were printed and collected over a number of years. Several maps are very old. The oldest was printed in 1929 from a 1901 edition. The SierraVille was printed in 1942 from a 1894 edition. All three maps are in used condition and have the date circled on the front cover(see photos) Essex and Somerset have only a few small splits at the fold lines; Morris has a considerable number of splits at the fold lines and has also been taped along a 5" tear. The Tennessee map has some numbers written on the front, the Alabama is fine. They are in very nice condition. The Kentucky map is a vintage 1942 Texaco map and it says on the front(since it was WWII at the time) Paper is Precious! Please don not throw this map away” We have come a long way from then. The Kentucky map is in very nice condition. The Road Map of the Northeastern States is from AAA and was printed in 1941. The cool thing about this map is that it has one side that displays AAA rated Hotels. READY MADE COLLECTION OF VINTAGE OIL COMPANY ROAD MAPS AND BROCHURES
Up for auction is a ready made collection of vintage oil company road maps. If you remember. These maps were given away at gas stations and used for road trips with the family. I don't think they even do this anymore. The collection contains a total of 28 maps and 12 brochures and include maps from Esso, Sun Oil, Gulf, Standard Oil and Sunoco. Some of these are very hard to find and go as far back as the 20's, 30's, 40's(WWII) and the 50's-60's. Examples include: 1939 NYS Worlds Fair Info Map 1964-1965 NY Worlds Fair Tourguide Map Esso War Map II by the Esso Marketers NYC and Long Island Info Map Wildlife in Alaska As far as condition, I would say overall they are in excellent condition. I have owned these maps for over 20 years but I believe the person I bought them from was also a collector. Unfortunately he wrote ... morestuff in pen on the backs of many(but not all) to help him id them such as dates and if they include pictures. I have included a photo to give you an idea of what I mean. I have not opened any of the maps so I don't see any major rips or tears however they have yellowed and do have some foxing from age. Alaska is a little folded but not creased due to its large size. I have had them stored in a cedar chest for most of the time I have owned them to keep them safe from bugs so if a cedar smell offends you please take that into consideration. As I said, even with the wear noted this is a great collection of vintage maps and I believe the new owner would be very pleased. U.S.A. Two nice old maps of Waterloo. Iowa. Excellent condition, probably seldom used, this came out of a large map collection that I recently acquired with many maps that obviously had been seldom used. One is a foldout City Map and Safety Guide, Waterloo, Iowa. Undated but definitely from sometime in the 1930s based on the cars in the illustrations. Folds out to 22 x 17.
