2 vintage maps from the 1940's that are referred to as escape maps. Both are double sided- ie there is a different map printed on each side. Sheet C& D which are of Europe. Is a soft silk 27" x 28" with a hand stitched hem around the edges. The condition is good-no damage to the silk and vibrant colours still. The second map of the far East- Sheet G& H measures 25" x 37" with a machined edge.I believe this also to be silk but it could be an acetate. This silk does have age mottling and brown marks especially round the borders-but nothing that you would not expect with an item of this age. Here is a very old map book. I picked this out if an attic where its been for the last 50 years or so. I have not gone through each page individually. But it appears to be at least mostly from the 40's may be some other years as well. And towards the back of the book there's some pages probably cut from AAA maps added in the 1960's. I think those are san Diego L.A. Most however are older and of inland empire. it is a lot of inland empire riverside county as far as I can tell. Maybe some other areas too. Someone interested in So. Cal. History will no doubt find this very interesting. A lot of the maps are cut in half to fit into the binder. There is an odor from being in the attic so long, critters, age, etc. and there are many many imperfections. This is a one of a kind though. 8 Vintage Topo Maps of Sectors of Quebec Canada Dept. of Mines Topographical
800x600 Up for auction is a unique set of topographical maps of Quebec broken into eight sectors: Buckingham. Cabonga Reservoir, Grand Lake Victoria South, Maniwaki, Mont-Laurier, Ste-Agathe, Tomasine, and Vimy. These maps were produced by various parts of the Department of Mines. Each map measures about 24 by 30 inches. The scale is indicated as 2 miles to the inch. There is no specific date given but the magnetic declination is shown on one map for 1940. My wife’s dad used them on fishing trips to Quebec back in the mid-1900s. They are in pretty good shape. The paper has yellowed a little, and the edges are frayed and torn. However, the actual maps are generally clean and not damaged, most damage isolated to the margins. A little writing on some maps. This is a vintage. Near mint Texaco map holder. It is a six pocket holder with sufficient room to hold about 12 of four different maps. I will include one of each of the four maps shown at no charge. New York, Ohio, Philadelphia and Long Island w/New York Metro. This four maps are MINT. NOS and straight out of a sealed package. All are 1972 to 1975 vintage. If you would like more of the same four mint condition maps in order to fill the holder more fully, feel free to contact me after the auction and I will make them available to you for $3.00 each. This wire rack has no bends or scratches. It could use a good cleaning but is in NEAR MINT condition. The measurements are 11" tall X 9" wide X 5" deep. 1940s Vintage Leather Masonic Presentation Bible Freemason Maps Color Plates
Holy Bible Masonic Edition This beautiful vintage Masonic Presentation Bible has a dark blue leather cover with gold gilt detailing to spine and cover. Beautifully detailed Freemason symbol on the cover of the Bible. The first page shows that this Bible was presented to Brother Harold George Duhamell by the Bretheren of Collingwood Lodge#457. He was initiated 2/22/44. Passed 3/28/44 and raised 4/29/44. The Bible is distributed by The Masonic History Company in Chicago. Illinois and was printed and bound by Collins' Clear Type Press in Great Britian. Title page states thtat the Bible contains the Old and New Testaments for use of the craft. There is not a publishing date indicated, but it was presented in 1944. The Bible features beautiful color plates. Photographs of Biblical locations as well as color maps. One is covered in small pegasuses and the other has a picture of a car on a a country road. This one was given by Wadhams a division of Socony-Vacuum.
