This is page 41 through 44 of a 19th century atlas featuring"Plan of Lands at Nantasket Beach. Not sure of the date but I would say it is from the 1870s. Open. The spread is 18" by 28. Page 41 has a map of the town of Hull, MA and page 44 has maps of the Village of Hull and Downer Landing. Condition is as found and as shown. This is a copy of a map of the North& East Ridings of Yorkshire. England by John Speed and was initially printed in the 1600's. It was taken(very carefully! from the book"The Counties of Britain. A Tudor Atlas by John Speed" which was printed in 1988. The map has been printed in colour on 2 pages of good quality paper. It measures 40cm x 30cm and would look lovely framed. As well as the map of the North& East Ridings of Yorkshire there is a map of Hull and of Richmond. On the rear of the map is some information about the county which describes the history and geography as it was in the 1600's. Speed’s Atlas was the first to show all the counties of Britain with towns. Villages and boundaries as they were at the time as they were at the time of Elizabeth I. With the first known‘aerial’ maps of towns, illustrations ... moreof battles, portraits of royalty, it is an elaborate work of art. Please note that the map is printed on 2 separate pieces of paper which means that when the pages are put together the join in the middle is good but not quite perfect. Originally published at a scale of 1:1056 or 5 feet to the mile. We have reduced them in scale to 1:1760 or a Yard to the Mile. The maps, though covering quite a small area, are wonderfully detailed, showing such features as capstans and mooring posts, lamp-posts, the layouts of back yards, and even the interior of certain buildings such as churches. For the urban historian they are perhaps the most fascinating maps ever published by the Ordnance Survey. This wonderfully detailed map covers the area around and to the north of Queen's Dock. Including Mason Street, Sykes Street, New George Street, Charter House, Kingston Square, Salthouse Lane, Great Union Street, ... morepart of Witham, North Bridge, Hodgson Street. Includes Sunk Chapel Island in the Humber. Hull at the North, down to Cambridgeshire, Boston, Stamford Bourne et al 53 cm by 42 cm. Chipped and tears in the margin nine of which enter the frame so a bit worn but still a genuine Cary map which will of great sentimental value to those from the Fens or Holland. Original 1903 hand colored map of Part of Hull MA featuring the areas of Point Allerton. Fort Revere, Windmill Point and an inset map of Hull including the islands of Boston harbor. From the 1903 Atlas of Plymouth County plus Cohasset, published by Richardson. The map shows property owners of the time plus structures and landmarks. It measures 32'x22" Condition: Minor chips and edge ware and a few spots and smudges. Typical of a map its age. There is a 51/2" tear originating from the center of the seam running diagonally towards the upper left(through the islands) It has been repaired with document repair tape on the back. See photos.
