Original insignia was nicely sewn on by hand with very fine little stitches. The isle of ELY. So it's called, is an area in England near Cambridge and saw an extensive amount of activity in WWII. HUGE Complex Double Dial Yale Safe Lock Ely Norris Cannonball Change Keys. I hardly know where to begin when describing this lock. As you probably know these do not often come up for sale. This one is mounted on a wooden display so may have been a factory training aid. Or salesman sample. It is very large and heavy. It stands 12 inches tall, and is supported by a 9 by 9 inch square base. Weight is near 20 pounds. There are chips and nicks in the wooden display, along with some loss of wood. The solid brass and steel lock is complete and working though would benifit greatly from a safe lock service technician who could throughly clean and lube this master piece. These were used on high dollar cannonball bank safes. The lock also has two yale pin tumbler locks incorporated with keys, that allows for changing the combinations. Very neat mechanical ... moresystem. The lock does have scratches and nicks but nothing drastic, or distasteful. Just good age related wear and tear. As for the rest of my description I am going to refer you to my photos. This is a rare chance to acquire a great safe lock. If you can think of anything I did not describe please ask before bidding. For Continental Line Colonel and Doctor John Ely. Choice Very Fine. This original document is dated from August 10. 1779 to Oct. 20, 1779. It is made for various Connecticut Continental Line Soldiers list of medical, food and other supplies, entitled“Bill of Sickness at New York” on the reverse side docket. It is well written in rich brown ink on very clean period laid paper, measuring 7.25” x 6” being an invoice meant for reimbursement for items apparently paid in“N. York Currency. A great, ... moreyet rather inexpensive document. Dr. John Ely was born in 1743. He practiced in Saybrook. And was the first physician who regularly practiced inoculation for the smallpox in the state. He erected a hospital, where he pursued the business of inoculation for several years. The cool regimen for the smallpox, was generally practiced there, successfully, earlier than in Europe. During the Revolutionary War Dr. Ely was a colonel of a regiment, and was early made prisoner, and carried to New-York. On account of his skillful services and attention bestowed on his fellow prisoners, he was suffered to remain in captivity an additional three years for their benefit. He died in 1800, aged 63 years. Ely was founded as a stagecoach station along the Pony Express and Central Overland Route. Ely's mining boom came later than the other towns along US 50. With the discovery of copper in 1906. Though the railroads connecting the FirstTranscontinental Railroad to the mines in Austin and Eureka have long been removed, the railroad to Ely is preserved as a heritage railway by the Nevada Northern Railway and known as the Ghost Train of Old Ely. This made Ely a mining town, suffering through the boom-and-bust cycles so common in the West. Originally, Ely was home to a number of copper mining companies, Kennecott being the most famous. With a crash in the copper market in the mid 1970s, Kennecott shut down and copper mining ... moredisappeared(temporarily) Ely is the nearest town to the proposed site of the Clock of the Long Now on Mount Washington. It is a Congress designer series pad made by the United States Playing Card company Beech& Park Cincinnati, Ohio. nice unused condition 1 Unused Bridge score pad floral design. By Hallmark. nice unused condition 2-pads partially used and used pages have been removed. There are no makers names I can find. The inside cover reads"New Contract Bridge scoring table International Code 1932. Decent condition for age and use. 1934 Culbertson's own Summary Bids& Responses HB with dust cover Cover reads"1934 Edition Culbertson's own summary Bids& Responses contract Bidding at a glance Ely Culbertson World Champion and Authority" The dust cover is worn(see pics) the hard cover is blue velvet type and is good condition with some edge wear. Vintage Ely Walker blanket Unused Original Tag Light Wt Soft Pink white Stripes
Awesome unused vintage soft blanket made by Ely& Walker in the USA. This is the softest blanket! So cuddly! Clean. No odors. It still has the original fold marks from storage. Tag says E&W Golden Seal Reg. US Pat. Off. WEARBEST Quality WASHBEST" Blankets No. 2905 Size 60x76. The last pictures are different angles of the 1" tear along the blanket edge. I have not washed it because it does not smell bad nor is it stained. It does say that its washable. But its so old, I would be very cautious using cold water, and no drier for safety. The age is probably 1940s to maybe early 1950s. I researched the company and Ely& Walker was bought out by Burlington Industries after WW11. Dating it to late 40s, 50s probably. I acquired this between 10-15 years ago to use for crafting bears for my grandchildren. Obviously they are too ... moreold for a pink/white/green striped bear now.
