VINTAGE 6" Scarborough `Oil Bath` Centrepin Reel Alhough no maker's name is apparent this is most probably a 6" Tufnol Oil Bath Bearing Scarborough reel made by Edwin Peart of Pritchard`s Tackle Shop in Eastborough. Scarborough in the early 1950`s. These were interesting reels as the Oil Bath Bearing allowed them to spin extremely well allowing Back Casting in excess of 100yds. With its Tufnol sideplates and a brass back strap and foot it has no ratchet but a spring and"gears" are visible through the vents. Unfortunately one wooden handle is missing and the other cracked but all in all this is a nice collectable old and conversational piece which. English Antique Bronze Door Knocker, Modeled as West Door of Bath Abbey, c.1903
The west door was donated as part of the reconstruction in 1611 after the original door was destroyed during the"Dissolution of the Monasteries" by King Henry VIII in 1539. During the reconstruction. The west door of Bath Abbey was carved courtesy of Lord Chief Justice Sir Henry Montagu. The Montagu coat of arms is prominent on the doors along with the Latin inscription: Ecce quam bonum et quam jucundum est. Behold how good and pleasing it is. This superb doorknocker measures 3 5/8" high by 1 7/8" wide and is cast from solid bronze. On the back of the'T' arm that affixes to the door is the maker's mark. GH' and a number which is, sadly, unreadable. On the back of the door itself is the cast-in legend. RD 397377' that being a UK Patent Office-issued registered design number that was allocated in 1903. ... moreThe knocker has one flaw.
