Certified by the Museum of Decoritive Art in Prague. Created during Austro-Hungarian Empire. This Gorgeous clock is now up for sale here in the US. The Clock runs very well, and is a Grand Sonnier. The chimes do not work as the helper springs are weak, and I do not wish to weaken them more by bending them. A good clock repair man would be able to fix this easily. It gongs every 15 minutes the quarter hour and the hour(this is sometimes refered as a" blind man's clock" I beleive the music box(in the bottom retangular box) is a replacement and has two"tines" broken. However. The music is beautiful and plays chords instead of individual notes. Behind the curved glass on top: is a"garden" with two twisted glass arches. Swans(paper) a pond, and flowers, plants and grass are made of paper and cloth. The"flowers" ... moreshown above and below the glass are hand carved Mother of Pearl. The"Tulips" beside the glass are wooden and are missing some of the petals. At sometime the"case" of the clock has been"touched up" with gold colored paint. I don't know if the painting on the dial or the pendulum is original. The Columns of the clock are alabaster. And I beleive the painting on the"music box" part of the clock to be original. I got this cabinet on the Belgian French border about 1998. It was brought in a container of furniture. I kept it in my house in Sacramento until I moved to Oklahoma in 2004. I just brought it out of storage. All the drawers and doors still work fine. The only major flaw is 2 missing dowels. Other than that there is just the natural aging things which are minimal. Every antique dealer and knowledgeable furniture person says it is one of the finest carved item they have ever seen. It is stunning. Nothing on it is identical. Each carve done 1 at a time. I have been around antiques and collectibles all my life but I am not an expert on furniture. There are 52 dowels in the bottom front. There are 34 dowels on each side of the top section of the cabinet with 2 missing on the right side 180 dowels total. Each section weighs approximately 100 lbs I would guess. 2 of us lift and carry each piece but better to use 4 to put the top on. E- this sale is for the pair a pair of authentic early 19th century, Port Glasses made between 1800 and 1830 a funel shaped. Faceted bowl, on a stem with 2 bladed knops. A plain foot with polished-out pontil the 2 knops gave a firm grip. Handy in a time(circa 1820) that there was not much silverware on the tables, so one could have greasy fingers heights: 10.2 and 10,3 cm. circa 4 inch weight together: 166 gram they are not exactly the same. They differ slightly in height, weight, form and color, because they are hand made condition: very good- no chips. No cracks, no restoration, clear glass, authentic and honest signs of age and use, they can have imperfections developped during the process of making as you can see on the 2nd picture. It is embossed underneath the two birds and the handle is heavily embossed and molded with a thumb grip, with the appearance of gathered material and a rolled scroll design on either side. French Charles X gilded silver sewing set, scissors, thimble, needle case. 1830
In excellent original condition. This superb and quite impressive sewing set was hand crafted in Paris(France) at the beginning of the XIXth century. The inlaid maple case is typical of the Charles X era. The silver hallmark is a rabbit head. Used at Paris between 1819 and 1838. It is extremly fine and in a surprisingly excellent condition for an almost 2 centuries old item. The case is superb. Closes as it should, has intact violet silk and velvet. The inlaid mahogany pattern is smooth with no chip at all. Two initials NN are engraved in the center of the cover, on a small brass plate. The tools are finelly made of gilded silver(Vermeil) They are beautiful and of great size. The silversmith's hallmark is LB. The scissors have no rust and cut very well(iron blades) One handle has a repair that can mostly be noticed from one side of the ... morescissors. Where the soldering was done there is no more gold plating but it's discreet. Inside the needle case. I found two needles with gilded eye. The case makes 12 cm long. ANTIQUE 1820-1830 ENGLISH BLUE & WHITE SPONGEWARE HELMET SHAPED PITCHER
This early pitcher has very defined sponging. The English cut the sponges in a much more fine and detailed manner. This is also called an ewer. When it has this oversized spout. It measures 10" 25.4 cm) in height, 7" 17.8 cm) in diameter at the widest point of the body and 4 3/4" 12.1 cm) in diameter at the base. The mouth of the pitcher measures 6" 15.3 cm) from spout to handle and is 4 3/4" 12.1 cm) across. The"C" shaped handle is heavily sponged. There are double, overlapping, concentric circles on the inside and outside of the spout. The first row of double circles on the body match the spout, except they are not overlapping. The next two rows are divided by two double rings. The two rows have double, multi-pointed stars, that also do not overlap. There is a very similar pitcher in my yelloware book, ... morethat has black sponging over the yelloware, dates to 1810 and was made in Yorkshire. The only difference is the bottom shape. The bottom of the pitcher in the book comes down straight and this one has a"pedestal urn" shaped base. This pitcher looks to be Ironstone because the glaze is not interrupted, but if you look at the base rim, there are two areas where the earthenware pottery is showing through. Also, the weight is substantial, but an Ironstone pitcher of this size would be heavier. This pitcher is in great condition, especially considering its age and composition. There is only one thing, and is not technically damage. It has a light beige stain on the bottom that does not come through to the inside surface. It measures 11" wide handle to handle and 6" tall. Stone China. The hexagon shaped bowl features two gold gilt handles and a transfer image on the inside of the bowl. The domed lid is also a hexagon with a gold glit floriform knop and the India Temple transfer design. India Temple is a Chinoiserie pattern. Mark on base of 19th century English Staffordshire brothers John and William Ridgway who worked together and used this mark from 1815-1830. CONDITION: The fact that this piece of earthernware exists in this nice condition today attests to the very ... morehigh quality of the work of the Ridgway brothers during that period. The domed lid is really clean. All I can find is a tiny loss on the side as shown in photo and a few some little black marks in a few spots which appear to be under the glaze. On the bowl. I see one very small hairline on the edge as shown on photo and a two other line marks that looks more that surface blemishes in the making(see photos to judge for yourself) than cracks. On the underside of the bowl, I see a few small blemishes as shown in photos and a small loss along the the rim. A very beautiful and graceful pair of finely hand painted and gilt decorated Covered entre dishs or Tureens as shown. These are a recent deacquisitionized item from a Georgia Historic house museum and were given to the museum 25 or 30 years ago from some fine old local estate whose owners wished for them to be preserved in such a museum setting. Probably no amount of money would have persuaded the original owners to sell these items which had been handed down for generations. This pair of covered dishes are painted with beautiful flowers in the manner of artists who painted for Tucker of Philadelphia about 1825-30. Probably after OLD PARIS decorations. The form is similar to silver hollowware of that period of Federal styles. Please allow time for the several(10)pictures to fully load up on your computer so you can clearly view the condition ... moreof these magnificent PORCELAIN beauties. There are a couple of slight grazed lines in one of the dish bottoms which you may overlook because they are almost invisible to the eye. Also one of the acanthus leafs has the tip broken off as I have clearly shown in several pictures but all in all the dishes are almost pristine and the gilt decoration is in amazingly perfect condition as you can see. These dishes were a treasured heirloom and were used very rarely as is obvious judging from the condition. I will be happy to have your comments in regard to your opinion as to the origin of these wonderful glazed pottery dishes which have been fired into porcelain. I also will be happy to consider any reasonable cash offer. Note the subtle color variations. It seems there is a slight buttersotch section under the handles on the covers. It is in nice condition as shown with some tarnish accumulated over the years. It has an engraved monogram on the front as shown. It is about 4 inches long and the bowl is about 1 inch wide. It is very pretty. This is an unusual piece of old sheffield plate as the main part is made of nickel silver rather than copper. And it is tinned on the underside rather than silver plated. the feet though are the usual thin silver pressing on a lead core backed by copper. I'd date it from the design of the feet to between about 1810 and 1830. Antique pulse glass 1830"s I don't know a thing about this and my research has turned up zilch! It comes with a note and written on the bottom of the box it says it was given to her mother in the 1830's by her mothers father. From what I can tell and have proved is you can take the tube in your hand and when the temperature reaches normal body temp. the bulbs at the ends start to bubble. sort of like a magic childs temperature monitor. I'm not sure of it's purpose other than to amuse children. I know my daughter was really intriged by it. I tried to show the action in the photo's but the camera is too fast to catch the bubles. It does get very agitated with large bubble action. I know it's one of those things you just have to have.
