This CD is in three parts: 1. Three maps produced by George Bradshaw of Railway Timetable fame. The maps were produced in 1830. They show most of England and Wales at a scale of ½ inch to one mile. They show the canal and railway network as it was then. They show the canal level above sea level and the entry widths of the locks. 2. The Walker Nichols and Priestly canal map of Great Britain. This map also produced in 1830 is at a scale of 5.6 inches to one mile. This map also shows the canals but in addition it shows the location of mineral deposits that would be transported on the canals. 3. The Joseph Priestly Book detailing and describing each of the canal layouts. The is an 800 page reference work.

Sailors snuff box circa mid 1800`s(Please see photo) Leather or papier mache? I`m not too sure. And either English or American. Item is decorated with a penwork three masted sailing ship on lid and sextant and anchor on the sides. Item measures 5cm in length by 2.5 cm wide and 2cm deep. In generaly good condition for age. Up for auction is a really unique ledger from the town of Sandborton New Hampshire. ledger is 87 pages in length and is filled with handwritten entries The first date of the ledger 1830 and than continues until around 1854. The ledger appears to have belonged to one of the members of the Sandborton family related to the founders of the town. I believe he fixed wagons. For the most part the entries are about how he was working on various wagons, mending carts, and fixing them for other members of the town. What really makes this ledger interesting is the fact that Sandborton is and was such a small town. This helps when identifying the names of the individuals inside the pages. Another interesting fact is the towns participation in historic events though out the nations history. Many of the members of this small town fought in the Revolutionary ... morewar. The War of 1812, and the civil war. I found four Captains listed in the ledger Captain Ebenezer Sandborton listed as a solider in the war of 1812 Captain Aza Cummer listed as solider in the war of 1812 Captain Foulsom? I believe he was listed in the War of 1812 as well. The box is beautifully made with elegant machine turnings on both the top and the bottom. The center of the lid is engraved with the monogram JH in Gothic script. The thumbpiece is decorated with raised scrolls and flourishes. The vinaigrette has a hinged pierced liner on the interior that is engraved with intricate flowers. Scrolls and leaves. Rare Coalport Antique Staffordshire Teapot - England - c. 1830-1840 - Beautiful
Flamboyant Antique English Coalport teapot discovered at an estate sale in Sherman CT. Where the owner had tons of really lovely pieces of porcelain. This teapot appears to be completely hand painted with the some paint over the glaze. The pot has a very pretty floral design on a gorgeously shaped by hand as well as moulded. The handle arches and is spurred and there is a dragons head spout- Some call it a swans neck spout. To me it looks more like a dragon. I've seen the same Coalport teapot on the following website which shows the same pot with different decoration. Please review the photographs ... morecarefully. There are some light stains and some dark dots. There is crazing due to age and there are some stress cracks. The main stress crack is around the base of the bowl and above the feet. This crack appears to encircle 1/2 of the pot on the exterior. There is a stress crack on one side of the pot if the spout is to the left which is toward the top of the bowl and above the flowers and leaves. On the inside of the pot in this same spot you can see the crack as well- so it is visible inside and out. There is a stress crack in the bottom interior of the pot. There is a chip on the underside edge of the lid that is about ½ inch long that does not show unless the area is carefully inspected. The inside lip of the pot is a little rough. As is the inside rim of the lid. This teapot is very old(1830-1840) and is being sold“AS IS” When you hold the pot it seems solid. I would handle this old beauty with care. Forming'pockets' of double cloth. It is extremely thick and heavy weighing nearly 8-lbs. This coverlet is fringed on three sides and is very finely hand-turned rolled edge at one end. The pattern one one side is reversed on the other, the lighter-colored side was meant for summer display and the darker one use in winter. I took pictures of both sides. It has a crisp and firm hand to the fibers, made of natural undyed cotton and indigo blue wool. Probably never having been washed, it was most likely used on special occasions and spent most of it's ... morelife carefully stored to be handed down to the next generation. The fiber is strong and still has great body. This unsigned coverlet was carefully stored and it is in excellent original condition with no fading and no wear, as seen in photos, no seam separation in center seam, no insect damage, no color bleeding, no odors, no repairs and fringe is intact. Excellent for its age. Like most home woven coverlets from this time period, it is done in two halfs and joined together with a center seam. Overall threads are in sturdy and strong condition, not weak at all. This lovely wool coverlet can be displayed in your period home and enjoyed for years to come! Our merchandise is collectible and is not new and has lived a long and eventful life. We do not launder or dryclean unless stated in listing.
