$100.00 Shipping Location: Tolland, United States A very rare piece of history- removed from the Connecticut state capitol in the late 1970's early 1980's during a major renovation of the 1879 ... moregothic victorian grand building constructed in Bushnell Park(formerly Trinity college property) Prior to the construction of this building- Connecticut had two state capitals: one in New Haven. One in Hartford- after centuries of the state government alternating it's location yearly- a legislative act was passed locating the seat of state government in Hartford(of course the citizens of Hartford sweetened the pot with a $500,000 gift towards the construction of a new building! A site was chosen and paid for by the state- 6 years of construction overruns. And finally in 1879 a brand new $3.2 million dollar building was opened- the building was one of the top ten architectural wonders of it's period. A century of wear and tear caught up with the building in the 1970's and luckily the leaders of the time thought better than to tear it down- instead they spent close to $20 million to refurbish the building. This cresting- original to the building was made by Taylor& Fenn in East Windsor. CT- and recast in the early 1980's(by the same company! for the replacement iron was put back on the roof! provenance can be provided in a book commissioned by the Old State House association! This table was hand crafted by an artisan- using the original cast iron cresting panel. Measures approximately 27" long by 13.25" wide x 20" high. Will look AWESOME with piece of glass(we have a few of these on our patio and deck area! Gives great look to outdoor decorating. Will need to be delivered(about $100 in most places) or can be picked up in the Hartford CT region. Will bring to Brimfield if desired also! $100.00 Shipping Location: Tolland, United States A very rare piece of history- removed from the Connecticut state capitol in the late 1970's early 1980's during a major renovation of the 1879 ... moregothic victorian grand building constructed in Bushnell Park(formerly Trinity college property) Prior to the construction of this building- Connecticut had two state capitals: one in New Haven. One in Hartford- after centuries of the state government alternating it's location yearly- a legislative act was passed locating the seat of state government in Hartford(of course the citizens of Hartford sweetened the pot with a $500,000 gift towards the construction of a new building! A site was chosen and paid for by the state- 6 years of construction overruns. And finally in 1879 a brand new $3.2 million dollar building was opened- the building was one of the top ten architectural wonders of it's period. A century of wear and tear caught up with the building in the 1970's and luckily the leaders of the time thought better than to tear it down- instead they spent close to $20 million to refurbish the building. This cresting- original to the building was made by Taylor& Fenn in East Windsor. CT- and recast in the early 1980's(by the same company! for the replacement iron was put back on the roof! provenance can be provided in a book commissioned by the Old State House association! This table was hand crafted by an artisan- using the original cast iron cresting panel. Measures approximately 27" long by 13.25" wide x 20" high. Will look AWESOME with piece of glass(we have a few of these on our patio and deck area! Gives great look to outdoor decorating. Will need to be delivered(about $100 in most places) or can be picked up in the Hartford CT region. Will bring to Brimfield if desired also! Location: Niantic, United States bench is in excellent condition.the paint is a little faded but it looks great.i have a matching bench if you are interested.i do not know the history ... moreor age of the bench.this a very very heavy.i like to use a company called uship for shipping large items. they are reasonable and do a good job but it may take a few extra days to get to you.
