6½ VINTAGE 1920’s-30’s -“WISS” NEWARK N.J. - SHEARS – CLIPPERS - HEDGE TRIMMERS
We are offering a fine-looking Vintage 1920's- 1930's Wiss#6½ hedge trimmer from Newark NJ. These shears are 18' long. With half-wood handles and a green painted body. Most of the original paint is intact and the handles are not damaged. The lower blade has a serrated. Saw-tooth edge that grips twigs and branches, and holds them fast, while the knife-edged upper blade cuts them off clean. This tool is in mint condition with some discoloration on the blades but absolutely no rust and the new owner may wish to sharpen this tool. Craftsman Bushwacker Hedge Trimmers Made by Echo 636.796670
Up for sale is a Craftsman hedge trimmer. The model number prefix of 636 indicates that it was made by Echo. This is an older piece of equipment. My best guess is 1989-1990. The model number is 636.796670. This piece came to me in a trade deal. It was missing the carburetor so I haven't spent much time on it. Here is what I know: Compression test resulted in 110 psi. I did get it to fire by squirting 2 cycle mix into the intake. 110 psi is my cutoff for attempting to repair. I did not pressure or vac test the crankcase. + Spark test. Coil produces enough spark to consistently jump a 5 mm gap on my spark tester. Switch works Gas tank good but cap is missing seal Air filter housing is in great shape Recoil housing works and is in great shape Blades are intact. No broken or missing pieces. 18 inch Trigger intact Handle in good shape Muffler ... morein good shape Gearbox appears to be in good shape. I did not open it yet. But I used a squirt bottle of 2 cycle mix(not starting fluid) to test equipment and I kept it running long enough for the blades to get going. If you have any other questions. Just ask. I am going to remove the blades for shipping so I can set the powerhead on top of them. It will drastically decrease the size of the box. If you are not okay with that. Then please do not purchase this item. This is being sold for parts or repairs only. This does not run and will need significant work to get running. AS IS. I would imagine that this pair of hedge trimmers were made in the late 20"s or 1930"s making these trimmers 70 or 80 years old and the man that I got it from said he hadn't used them for a good 40 years. I would hate to have to trim very many shrubs with this trimmer because of it weight. The box is 14-7/8" across, 11-1/4" deep and 5-1/2" tall. commercial hedge trimmers are lightly used and has the dual cutting blades. The blades are in great shape and recently sharpened. They are about six months old and function like the day that I bought them. There are some signs of wear cosmetically but all and all they are a great set of trimmers please see pictures for more details
