Vintage 23" Unusual Size Garden Shovel Spade Tool Camping Sturdy Painted Handle
This is an unusual size shovel or spade used for gardening. Camping, hiking or whatever. The overall length is 23"handle including the shaft is 14" and the blade is 8" x 6" wide. The handle is as big as most full size garden tools-about 1 1/4" across at top and bottom and a bit less in the middle.The handle has a neat look with the black and white paint-the black is original and the white is old but looks like it was added later. The handle is weathered with the typical vertical age splitting of tools that have been left outside but is still very sturdy. The blade has rust with surface pitting but remains very sturdy. Antique Garden Hand Tool Trowel Spade Shovel Heavy Duty Steel Oak Handle Sturdy
This is a vintage/antique garden hand tool that was definitely made to last for many years of hard use. This neat old trowel is made of heavy duty steel with a sturdy oak handle-it weighs in at nearly 13 ounces. The overall length is 13 1/2"the blade is 6" and with the shaft it is 10 1/2" That stubby oak handle is 1 1/2" across the top. There is a bit of a gap between the bottom edge of the handle and the shaft but the handle is very well secured.it is not about to come loose. Another neat feature of this trowel is the tabs at the top of the blade.not quite sure why unless to keep you from digging too far down. The blade still has some of the original gray paint and a little light surface rust. It would"spiffy" up really good if you prefer your old tools that way. APPD FOR, the American Fork&Hoe Co. applied for a trade mark of the D handle on July 8,1924, it was approved Dec. 8,1925, it is 27 inches long, handle is 4.25 inches wide, the blade is 4.75 inches wide, the stem is oak, the wood in D handle is unknown, looks like a military type shovel?
