This is an old galvanized steel water can with pour spout. You used to see these at the local gas station. Usually out by the pumps to add water to radiators. This one is signed and embossed DOVER. It is in good used condition. No dents, cracks, holes or other damage. It holds water without leaking. This old water can is intact. Nothing broken or repaired. It has the original handle, straight and securely attached. The wood handle is in good shape, retaining most of the original paint, no cracks or chips. The poor spout is intact with no damage. No dents in the side of the can. The bottom of the can is in great shape, no rust or holes. The seams and lips are all in great shape. The back handle is intact and secure. Don't get this confused with your granny's flower watering can. This is a mantique. These cans never had a sprinkler head on them, instead they featured metal tabs to stop the can from going too far into the radiator. at one time this item would have had advertising on the sides- Mobil, Shell, Texaco or the like. This can is unique in that most of the cans you see are oblong or oval shaped whereas this can is a nice plump round one. The lid seats firmly and requires a flat head screwdriver to remove it-comes up like a a lid to metal paint can-not too bad. It took a dent on the top of the lid. Vtg MPRR Missouri Pacific Railroad 3 Ga WATER COOLER Jug Galvanized Steel
Vintage plastic-lined galvanized steel 3 gallon water cooler embossed with"M.P. R.R. While the cooler is otherwise unmarked. It is identical to the"Arctic Boy" water coolers made by the Schlueter Manufacturing Company. I recall using these coolers in the early 70s, but I'm not sure of the exact age of this one. The cooler is about 18 inches tall(to top of handle on lid) and 11 inches in diameter. It weighs nearly 7 pounds. There is no rust. The inside liner is insulated plastic. It has a few light scratches from normal use. The plastic valve works just fine with firm action and no leaks. There are a few small edge dents and these in be seen in the pictures. The wire bail handle is intact but the white plastic part is broken and coming off. There was once a white plastic cup holder attached to the side. This is missing but ... morethe base of it is still attached. A few areas of very light discoloring, can be seen in pics. GREAT collector piece that is still functional today! Basically. What you see is what you are getting. This is a RARE 2-gallon, vintage water cooler/jug by Arctic Boy. It is galvanized steel. It is in very good vintage shape. It has significant loss of the decal on the front as shown. The handle is in excellent condition. The exterior is in very condition to excellent condition(aside from the decal) there is some slight surface rust on the lower several inches of the cooler as shown in the pictures. The spout works. The interior bottom has some very light surface rust as shown, but has no holes are significant rust. The lid is in very good to excellent shape as shown.
