The Corn Boss is one of those tools that helped ease the work when most tasks were done by hand. This is a leather strap that ties around the hand and holds a blade that extends below the fist. The worker would hold the ear of corn in one hand and use the blade to rip down through the shucks to be able to quickly pull the ear of corn free. This was quite the labor saving device in the past when so many of the jobs were done by hand. And still works well today when dealing with a large home gar den. This is an antique corn planter. American Standard No. 3. It is approximately 33" tall and 11" wide at the widest area. I've tried to show all the writing that is on the handle. Dates listed on the handle are July 25 1893. Aug 20 1901. Sheffield Mfg. Co, Burr Oak, Mich U.S.A. Has various scratches etc. due to age. But as far as I can tell it has all the working parts but I do not guarantee that. I have not tested it to see if it works. Really nice solid shape. No rot. Cracks, damage. Used, not abused. Price written on side 3.95. Inside metal parts move when handles are pushed together. But don't spin all the way around. Vintage/Antique/Primitive Hand Corn Seed Planter Wonderfully weathered wood. Wooden handles and rusty tin. The frame and handles are wood. The handle bracket is metal. The Seed box is tin with a hinged wood lid. The hinge/spike pieces and the metal section between the two pieces of wood are metal. It seems to be operational. The back and forth spring action still works. The wood has lost a piece at the top where one of the handles attaches. See close-up photo. Handle is on tight and sturdy though. 34" long. Offered is this early corn harvesting farm tool once used for cutting stalks by hand. This features an 11 inch steel blade on a 24 inch wooden handle. The blade is held securely with two casted steel brackets and two square head bolts and nuts. The ends of the bolts were flared with a hammer to keep them permanently attached to the nuts. There are no visible makers identification marks. Condition: There is wood checking at the blade end of the handle and the blade is rusty. All original pieces are intact and in stable condition.

Selling With No Reserve! Hi! I have for Auction here a cool antique rustic hand garden bean/corn seed planter. It has some rust. Scuffs, and bangs. It is approx 33" tall. The cap is missing. A piece of wood on top of the handle is broke off. Cool collectible item to hang on a wall. See Pictures. Get yourself a great deal here. Local pick-up is always welcome. This is an original, Antique, hand" CORN SHUCK" TOOL. It is constructed out of Rawhide leather and has a steel blade affixed for dragging across corn cobs to remove the corn. There is No damage to disclose here. It is in complete working condition. Please take a look at all detailed pictures in this listing, as an important part of my description. I will gladly, group ship, to save on shipping cost. I will ship, via USPS, within a couple days of cleared payment. Outstanding Antique Hand Held Corn Seeder. by American Planter Co. Burr Oak Michigan. Great looking antique, perfect for display. Corn seeders are not super rare as so many farms had them, but this one still has original sticker in place& works very well. It has some dirt& rust, but it screams 1890's America. Stands about 32 inches& weighs about 5 pounds. I love the design& took many photos for your consideration. Simple& efficient. No wonder so many families had one for there home& garden. Load the corn, press down& plant, just that simple. No bending, no digging, really cool. I always pack gently. Even tough old items like this. Let us know if you have questions.
