Vintage/Antique/Primitive Hand Corn Seed Planter Wonderfully weathered wood. Wooden handles and rusty tin. The frame and handles are wood. The handle bracket is metal. The Seed box is tin with a hinged wood lid. The hinge/spike pieces and the metal section between the two pieces of wood are metal. It seems to be operational. The back and forth spring action still works. The wood has lost a piece at the top where one of the handles attaches. See close-up photo. Handle is on tight and sturdy though. 34" long. The inside of the can lid has the paper label instructions that are still legible! Used to be red, but obviously has faded. Metal parts have great patina. The handle is not original, but its old and very charming! Dusty and dirty. I can not describe everything that is bent, dented, cracked, not original, faded, rusted, or otherwise not new. Please examine all photos for physical condition and keep in mind its a used farm implement. Straight from a local Michigan farm, so I have no reason to believe it ever left Michigan. Thanks! The wood handles have wear and look to be"chewed" Along with a crack in the wood. Chips and wear along the straight part of wood by the seed box. Was painted at one time, has remnants of red, gold, black coloring. The words R. Herschel Mfg. Co. Peoria, ILL. is present but very worn/faded.Please see pictures for details) The approximate measurement is 34"high. Closed the handles measure 9 3/4"across. VINTAGE Antique PRIMITIVE WOODEN CORN SEED PLANTER FARM TOOL Wood Decorating
This is for the piece you see here. I am not sure the make of this piece. Possibly ACME? Not sure. Nor am I sure the age. There are some words stenciled onto the back side(photo#12) but I cannot make out what they say. This would make a very nice decorating piece. The metal hopper looks very old. The top to the hopper needs to be resecured on the one side. The other side is secured with a nail. I believe this is how it was made, though I cannot be sure of that. Stands 34" tall. The photos show the true condition. Comes just as you see it here. Please look close and be sure to ask whatever questions you may have.
