Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Antique English Country Chest, Pine, late 18th early 19th
I had to have an English country chest for this spot. I have it in a corner with a TV on the top. It came to me with the cracks you see and hasn't gotten any worse in my house. The drawers work. But not that smooth to pull in and out. It is really pretty and charming. I paid $2000 for it in Kensington at the antique store that imports English chests. It is late 18th early 19th century according to them. The color is very nice, light. If you are interested, bid soon as I will be moving and will sell everything to an estate person or to an auction house.

It does have some wear and tear that would be expected of a trunk over 100 years old. Rare Unusual Late Victorian Antique Oak Jewellery Box, Combined Perfume Tantalus
Offered for sale. A"Rare& Extremely Unusual" Late Victorian Antique Oak Jewellery Box. Combined Perfume Tantalus. This Deliciously exquisite and most unusual item is simply a delight. And a genuine curio of the Victorian era. It was clear that a fine lady would need to protect her treasures from potential light fingered servants, however it seems there was also a need to ensure her expensive perfumes were not being surreptitiously dabbed on the neck of the housemaid and it must have been derived from the“Butlers Enemy” the drinks“Tantalus” first shown at the great exhibition, that the idea of combining a version of this with a lockable jewellery box must have come, hence allowing both valuables to be displayed whilst at the same time protecting them from use by the staff. It is unclear when the first of these were made and how ... morewidely they were used and for how long they were popular, clearly nowhere near as widespread in use as their counterpart the drinks Tantalus which is borne out by their rarity today. This example is stunning and in really very nice condition, it consists of four cut glass(probably Bohemian) perfume bottles themselves in lovely condition with only a couple of flea bites on one of the stoppers to fault them. The jewellery box opens at the top with lockable hinged double doors which also secure the bottles in the Tantalus; the doors also have superb bevelled glass panels to allow the jewellery below to be viewed. Inside there are three red leather lined compartments two of which have red leather covered tilt-top covers and are silver embossed with the words in old English script“ Hair Pin s” the central compartment is open. There are a few scuffs and minor age and use related marks to the leather but these are only very much what you would expect, indeed require of a used item of this age. There’s a secret drawer“there is always a secret drawer” particularly with the better pieces, this is where you keep the good stuff and is laid out as a bespoke jewellery tray, it is at the bot

1800s Camel Back Steamer Trunk with Embossed Tin
This beautiful Victorian Camel Back Steamer Trunk is in great condition to be used or to add to a collection. From what I have read about the trunks. They say that the camel back trunks were moreso purchased by the wealthy because they wanted their items stored on top of the stagecoaches or ships when they were traveling so they wouldn't get damaged. I am not sure of the maker of the trunk but the lock was made by Eagle Lock Company from Terryville, Connecticut that was established in 1833. The outside of the trunk has black tin along with an embossed Grecian pattern tin and wooden trim slats. The inside is wood with the original wooden tray and lined with paper, which some of the paper in the trunk has come loose. The leather handles are missing along with two of the wheels on the bottom. Rare Flat Top Metal covered Steamer Trunk Sometimes called a Waterfall in furniture or a Monitor Trunk Very Large Flat top Trunk and Heavy! Unusual trunk in its construction. The top has gently curving corner on the front and back The Oak slats were softened in a steam cabinet and bent in a mold to fit the curves. Great Condition for its age. The metal on the lid shows some dents and dings but just character marks for it's age. Two original trays inside and the original lining is in great shape and does not need to be replaced. The trays do have some condition issues, please look at the photos. The Black paint on the exterior is mostly original. A few areas have been overpainted. Antique doll trunk of maybe a salesman's sample has printed paper graphics over wood. The domed top has wooden stays held with fancy tin fixtures. There are 2 compartments under the lid and the base of the trunk has a lift out till with another 2 compartments. The leather straps to pick up the trunk are broken(aren't they all? The paper covering is in amazing condition for this turn of the century piece. Paper is 99% intact. The trunk measures 10 1/2 inches high x 14 across the front and back x 8 1/4 width. Rare find in this size. Age and condition. It has been well cared for all of these many decades.

LARGE ANTIQUE CONSTANT VUITON TRUNK STENCILED "ABBY BROWN/CONCORD, MASS"
Found in central Mass. this past summer is this magnificent trunk from the end of the 19th century. The name of Abby Brown from Concord. Mass. is stenciled on each end of the trunk, but the trunk is French, as the beautiful paper label on the inside of the dome top reveals. This label lists the name of one"Constant Vuiton, doing business in Paris; whether Miss Brown bought the trunk in Paris at the end of her Grand Tour[my guess only] or bought the trunk in the U.S. before departure for Europe isn't known. Regardless, her trunk made it back to Mass. There's a travel sticker on one end which reads: Paris/a Londres/CHARING CROSS/via Calais) and the remnants of a larger sticker on the other with part of the word"British" on it and partially obscuring her name on the other] The interior tray is missing, but the original ... morestriped paper covering is in remarkably good condition as is the ribboning around the label. And the trunk emits no musty or other foul odors. The trunk's wooden frame is covered on the exterior with gray canvas-what on Louis Vuitton trunks is called"Trianon" canvas from the 1858-1876 period. Which may, in fact, date this trunk to that earlier period. The wooden staves which cover the trunk's top, front and rear are most likely made of oak and are all in excellent condition with no breaks, splits, looseness or repairs. The brass nails holding them are all original as are the brass locks, but the key(s) are, alas, absent. The side handles are very solid and made of iron. The bottom is solid, too, exhibiting normal wear and retains three of its original four bead-like lead casters for ease of transport. Antique Eastlake Chest of Drawers c1880s
Beautiful Eastlake chest of drawers I found in an estate sale. I am not sure what type of wood it is-maybe walnut? It measures 58"H(back piece) 50 1/2" H(front) x 34"W x 17"D. It has 6 drawers. With the two bottom drawers slightly larger. Drawer faces have a burled veneer and each one has a lock-the drawers are unlocked and all open-there is no key. The pulls are carved wood-I am not certain if they are original to the piece. Pin and cove dovetails join the front and sides of drawers. Overall it is in good shape with minor imperfections usually seen in antiques such as nicks, dents, scratches consistent with age and use. 19th C OLD BLUE GREEN PAINT ORIGINAL BLANKET TOOL CHEST FOLK ART HEX PINWHEELS
offered from my own personal collection is this exceptional diminutive sized or miniature 19th century primitive blanket chest. the original paint on this is the early slate or soldier blue that over a hundred or two years oxidizes to hues of sage green on its outside giving it outstanding paint depth. this early paint is very rare to find on a primitive and ive allways had an affection for such pieces and its impossible to duplicate in any way. so in other words. This chest is a deep blue paint however to the natural aging it appears to have blueish sage green tints in some light. the inside camera flash makes it more greenish than it is, while the outside pictures show more its real color. the other unique highlight of this chest is that it is original scribe decorated with folk art hex sign pinwheels. theres two large ones on the top lid ... moreand underneath the lid is profusely decorated with them which ive tried to capture on the pictures and theres even one on one of the drawer tills. I believe this chest uniquely functioned as a high end tool or machinest chest because it does have two different level sliding tills and what looks to be a graduated drill bit holder on the back inside. total measurements are 25 1/4'w x 13 3/8'h x 12 3/4'd with early original square nail construction, there are two small screws on the back which obviously were added at a later date to tighten an area up. to sum it up, this chest is a real looker and has extraordinary primitive appeal.

This auction is for a very beautiful vintage dome top Steamer Pirate trunk. It has a very pretty pressed tin design(blue) mixed in with the oak wooden strips. It really makes a very pretty display piece It would look great in any area! It is a useable trunk. Both of the old leather side handles are attached still! The large front center hinge lock works fine but I do not have a key for this trunk. Both of the side front locks work well. There are no interior drawers. The hinges holding the lid on are good. The interior of the lid incorporates a fold down panel. One side is ruffled velvet with a gilt leather edging, the reverse is a calf skin pouch. The base of the box reveals a pull out drawer and I would have imagined that there was a tray above it but it is now not present.
