This antique/ vintage salesman sample makes a great chest of ... moredrawers for a doll. The wood is either mahogany or walnut. Chest has very nice carved feet front and back with bowed top as well as bowed front. It measures approx 22" tall including swivel mirror. 12 1/4" wide at feet, and 9" deep at feet and has 2 small drawers at top and l larger drawer at bottom. Mirror is in fine condition. The small drawers each measure approx 5 3/8" x 4" x 2 1/2" deep. The one on the right has a smaller pull than the others but it appears to have been put on at the same time. Bottom drawer measures approx 9 3/8" x 8" x 3 3/8" deep. Bottom drawer has original lock(no key) and is lined with a silver color paper which appears to be very old. The finish ... morehas a darkened aged look– beautiful. This is a wonderful old piece- I believe it to be about 1920 It has 2 handkerchief drawers on the top. There are 2 drawers side by side and below those. 2 large drawers. The drawer pulls are wood. There grooves in the 2 small drawers and in the bottom drawers. On the sides of the chest. There are grooves again, nice detail. When it is upside down the bottom is the bottom of the last drawer. Only one side of the center drawer is dovetailed, it was easier and cheaper to make that way. The salesman had the one corner as an example to show his customers. Condition: Really very good. There are no splits in the outside wood. A couple of the drawers have wood splits(inside) The corner of the back right facing leg was broken off. But it looks like someone shaped it. It is not noticeable unless you compare the sides. There is a stain in one drawer see photo. All of the drawers slide easily. It needs a good cleaning. Look at all the photos and ask questions. We pack well and ship quickly. We welcome questions. THANK YOU. Here is a stunning and very desirable approximately 150 year old antique Japanese small Choba tansu. Or merchant's chest, dating from the Meiji Era around the mid to late 1800's, featuring a lock bar in the center and classical safe compartment at the bottom right. It boasts a natural light colour with a rich honey patina, beautifully shaped hand forged iron hardware, wood peg construction and 8 drawers of various sizes that provide versatile storage options including a full width drawer at the top. It is in excellent overall condition for it's age. But has a little lock issue: as there is no key and the top drawer lock is in the closed position with the drawer open it will not shut all the way. The safe compartment has a tendency to swing open by itself since there is no key to lock it. The lock issue does NOT affect the lock bar which slides in and out of place properly. Please read the description and examine the photos for more details on the condition. Locksmiths and larger antique dealers will own sets of multiple keys to fit a broad range of locks so you should be able to get the drawer unlocked easily enough so it slides into place. With a little patience you could also find an antique key that fits right here on ebay(I can recommend a seller who regularly stocks this type of item) Other small issues worth noting are a small repair in the bottom corner of the smallest drawer just above the safe compartment. The larger top drawer is stiff to open and close due to age and needs a tweak, and one corner plate in the back is bent out of shape. Given it's age there is some wearing off of the blackening of a few small spots of the iron, and a couple of small nails are missing. So my appologies. Here we go again. This listing is for a really quite spectacular circa 1850 very elaborate apprentice cabinet circa 1850 or so. The cabinet measures 19 inches high by 16 inches across and 8 inches deep. 48 by 40 by 20 cm) The cabinet has 4 wallpaper lined drawers. Each drawer has a brass escutcheon and two round wood pulls each with a brass star. The cabinet is mahogany with the top. Front and both sides covered in marquetry work. The marquetry work is at least 6 different woods including olive and fruit woods. The drawers are flanked by columns with fancy capitals and bases. The whole sits on 4 bun feet. As you can see by the photographs the cabinet is a really beautiful example of"proof" that an apprentice had achieved mastery of his cabinet making skills. The condition is also exceptional for it's age and virtually untouched as far as restorations or repairs. The drawers maintain their original wall paper interiors. There are two relatively pieces of marquetry work missing on the top but otherwise the cabinet is in really fine shape. Shipping anywhere in the US via UPS Ground with full insurance is $30.00. Antique Miniature Doll Chest with Hankie Drawers Salesman Sample 12” High x 12” Wide x 6 ½“ Deep*It is darker than it looks in the photos. The finish has a darkened aged look– beautiful. This is a wonderful old piece- I believe it to be about 1920 It has 2 handkerchief drawers on the top. There are 2 drawers side by side and below those. 2 large drawers. The drawer pulls are wood. There grooves in the 2 small drawers and in the bottom drawers. On the sides of the chest. There are grooves again, nice detail. When it is upside down the bottom is the bottom of the last drawer. Only one side of the center drawer is dovetailed, it was easier and cheaper to make that way. The salesman had the one corner as an example to show his customers. Condition: Really very good. There are no splits in the outside wood. A couple of the drawers have wood ... moresplits(inside) The corner of the back right facing leg was broken off. But it looks like someone shaped it. Antique Miniature Marquetry Chest of Drawers Apprentice piece Collectors Cabinet
Description This chest sold a month ago to a bidder that lives in Australia. I could not ship him the chest there because of shipping restrictions please see note below. My fault. I did not realize the size box that would be necessary to ship this chest safely. So my appologies. Here we go again. This listing is for a really quite spectacular circa 1850 very elaborate apprentice cabinet circa 1850 or so. The cabinet measures 19 inches high by 16 inches across and 8 inches deep. 48 by 40 by 20 cm) The cabinet has 4 wallpaper lined drawers. Each drawer has a brass escutcheon and two round wood pulls each with a brass star. The cabinet is mahogany with the top. Front and both sides covered in marquetry work. The marquetry work is at least 6 different woods including olive and fruit woods. The drawers are flanked by columns with fancy capitals ... moreand bases. The whole sits on 4 bun feet. As you can see by the photographs the cabinet is a really beautiful example of"proof" that an apprentice had achieved mastery of his cabinet making skills. The condition is also exceptional for it's age and virtually untouched as far as restorations or repairs. The drawers maintain their original wall paper interiors. Antique Scottish Folk Art miniature chest of drawers box circa 1860
A box. Made to look like a Scottish full sized chest of drawers, with columns down the front. The kind of chest of drawers that used to be called a"Scotch chest" The drawers don't open. The top lifts up to reveal a plain box. Very much a one off. Made perhaps as a present and very much in the Folk Art tradition. Each part is homemade- you can see the whittle marks on the feet and even the handles have been made for this piece. Brass hinges and lock plate were bought. The rest is all individual. Approximately 27cm x 21.6cm across the top. Height- 24cm. A pleasing size. Condtion- It has at some point had a bad bash to the base. Which has knocked one of the feet off and it has been glued on again. It is old, old glue and could be done again much better with modern glues and not show. At the same time, you can see in the photo, ... morea crack appeared in the base at the back. The sides have been decorated with a shaped overlay. On one side three pieces are missing, on the other two. I would say this could easily be fixed without too much trouble and also could be ignored quite easily! The hinge works well and closes and opens and the front, the decorative part has all its knobs and drawers etc. The starting price reflects the damage and it is still a really fun thing. Antique American Miniature Chest of Drawers Hand Painted Decoration Early Doll
This middle 19th century chest is crafted of ash and walnut with thin pine wood backing and square nail construction. It measures 12 ¼” tall x 13 ¼” wide x 7 ½” deep and has lovely turned walnut knobs and lively side cuts at the base. The top and drawer faces feature red striped edges framing free-hand floral decoration in red and green under an original layer of golden varnish. The drawer fronts are excellent; the top has a split along the back edge. Round water marks and wear to the paint. This chest is fresh from a northern Indiana estate and has un-touched dirty surface. I don’t think the surface has been enhanced since the 1800s but you will note numerous round, wire nail repairs along the back rabbet into which the back slips with some splits and wood loss. Antique 16" Empire Miniature Chest of Drawers Empire Dresser with 7 Drawers
Offered for sale is a miniature child's toy sized empire dresser. This piece was most likely made in the early part of the 1900s. The drawer bottoms appear to be stained. They are not oxidized. The inside of each drawer is also painted, so it is hard to tell the exact age, since there is no raw exposed wood. Though, the finish on the outside has been on long enough, say 75 years to have crackled. The only way for this to happen is over time, so, we can date this piece to at least 75 years. Large high back splat. With a deck of two drawers on the top. The large top drawer underneath that has two drawers as well and then three long drawers on the bottom of the piece. The style of this is Empire. And has all the elements one would associate with that design, the overhanging large top drawer and the curved elements running down to the front ... morefeet. In as found condition. The edges have bumps and chips, and this needs a good going over with a dark polish to hide the exposed wood under the original finish. Beautiful French antique pyramid mahogany miniature chest of drawers
This is such a beautiful miniature chest of drawers. I bought it from France so it is likely to be french. Made in pyramid mahogany with a dark black/greyish marble top. The knobs are made of metal. I believe this to made second half 1800´s.1860-1880. Beside being beautiful it has no less than Two! hidden compartments.one at top and one at bottom. To open the one at the top. You have to open the first drawer. To be able to open the one att the bottom you have to pull out the second drawer and use a little pull mechanism hidden on the inside of the chest. Now this could be an ideal jewelry box. And to keep secret love letters in the hidden compartments. BUT. It could also be a lovely display with you french fashion dolls or french bebe´s. This sweet bit of Americana measures 20” tall x 17” wide x 9” deep and boast 4 molded drawers with dovetailed construction(front; square nail back) and thick hand chamfered drawer bottoms. The sides feature raised panels with compass corners and graceful cuts repeating the profile of the front skirt. It is primarily pine with tulip poplar back; some of the drawer bottoms are pine and others poplar and retains its original heavily distressed dark grain painted surface overall. A barrel shaped drawer tops three smaller drawers. All finely dovetailed. The wonderful pressed glass knobs are original and add a little sparkle when the light hits them. The lower drawers are designed to open only when the top drawer is opened. Miniature Antique 3 Drawer Dresser Old estate find. This is another great little antique dresser. Not sure whether it is a salesman sample or a miniature collectible, but it is a very nice primitive piece. Not sure what the wood is, it is painted with old pale green paint Three drawers with original wood drawer pulls, the top pull is different, not sure if it was broken, nicely constructed with beadboard sides and empire detail. Old unfinished wood on the back, with the top third missing. The top drawer is missing its back and there is a small piece or wood trim missing on the bottom left(see pic 6) Very nice little piece in good primitive antique condition. Antique Miniature Lane Cedar Chest 1938 Dated
Miniature Lane Cedar Chest dated 1938 with the name of the High School girl who received it for graduation. This is one of the harder to find Miniature Lane Cedar Chests with the upright. Rounded corners containing 3 grooves. These chests were often given go stores that sold the Lane Cedar Chests and those stores would then pass them on to graduating seniors. This chest is in very good condition overall. It does have some nicks and scratches in it. However the finish is intact, no splits, cracks or chips in the wood. All the seams and joints are in excellent condition with no damage to them either. Lock is intact and even the wooden feet on the bottom(a rare option on these miniature chests if you look around) are 100% complete. Chest even has it's original hinges inside the lid, another rare feature as the majority of these have them ... moreon the outside. On the inside of the chest there is a black stain running along the bottom edge and also a large white stain. All of this is shown in the photographs. Please note: This is a used miniature cedar chest 75 years old. As such this chest does have signs of wear and tear, nicks, scratches and the stains as I've mentioned. It is not new, it shows the character of it's years, that while it is in very good condition, this chest was used and loved obviously by it's owner as it is proud to show you. This little cabinet is made of mahogany and dates from the early ... moreVictorian period. The cabinet is raised on four turned mahogany feet. The case contains four well constucted dovetailed drawers; two over two. The drawers all have old cream porcelain glazed circular knobs. The lower two drawers have faux ivory diamond shaped escutcheons. The lower with brass lock fitted. The middle drawer has no lock and the escutcheon is really for display and probably inlaid to give the front of the cabinet symmetry. The cabinet is finished with an overhanging mahogany top. Condition: The cabinet is in good used antique condition. The wood is wax polished. Has developed a good aged patina and has marks relating to age and use. The back RHS foot plinth has been replaced at some point as can be seen in the images of the back and underside of the cabinet. The RHS of the cabinet has an age related crack at the top corner. This does not compromise the function of the cabinet. The glaze on the porcelain knobs has crazed and they have some very minor age related surface marks. Awesome primitive folk art miniature wooden blanket chest. Made from an old fruit crate. All components of box show traces of having been gleaned from a fruit crate the box is in excellent shape, and measures 8" long by 3 3/4" wide and 3 1/4" tall. There are three tiny nail holes visible on top of box lid one in front center, and two on right side edge, which are remnants of when piece was a packing crate please see last photo. The front of box has a beautiful scallop design and still retains faint pencil layout lines. Original to the creation of the piece. Both sides of the mini blanket chest have footed arched features which join and compliment the scalloped arched front. The interior of box is where the origin of this unique piece is hidden, the wooden interior reveals the writing, advertising of the original fruit crate ... moreof which it was made. Antique German Hanau Solid Silver Novelty Chest of Drawers Shape Trinket by Friedrich Reusswig 1910 This Antique Novelty Shape Trinket Box measures approximately 1 7/8 inches or 48 mm across the length of its lower body from side to side by just under 1 1/2 inches or 37 mm across the width of its lid from the hinge to the front and it stands 1 1/2 inches or 39 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from solid silver that has been internally gilded or gold plated in the delightful novelty form of a 17th century European chest of drawers that stands on four scroll shaped legs and it has two false drawers in the front of its body. The entire outer body has been wonderfully embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated with scrolls, flowers, lattice, foliage, birds and cherubs at play and the box has a five section piano ... morehinged lid on the top of its body, the edges of the lid overhang the body for ease of opening and the box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The box has No Large Dents. No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the box or chest of drawers stand upright, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the lid opens with ease and closes tightly, the internal gilding is a really good colour with only minimal wear, the impressed makers marks are still legible although as the trinket box is a used antique it does have the obvious signs that it was hand made and it has one tiny dent in the rear left corner of the lid edge along with some extremely minor

I believe it is empire style. It measures 8 1/2" wide by 8 3/3" high by 4" deep. drawers are all dovetailed by hand and square head nails used for the other parts. There is grooves on the top drawers where I believe there was a mirror at one time which has been long lost. It is missing one pull and I don't know if they are original. One leg is missing in the back. the piece does have a piece off of the front edge of the top. I believe it is the original finish with wear from the years. Antique Miniature Blanket Chest Old estate find. This is a nice, well made wood miniature blanket chest box. There is a raised panel on the top, and several layers of decorative moldings. Dark wood finish, I am not sure what the wood is, maybe walnut. Inside the chest has a little side til with a lid that flips up, and there is a lock and key. I am not sure if the lock is original to the piece. The lock does work and the key is included. Very nice antique condition, some wear to the finish as you would expect from years of use. This is a walnut Sheraton period miniature or child's chest. It is handmade exhibiting early nailed construction drawers. It has pine drawer bottoms and back. The primary wood is walnut and the secondary wood is pine. Very nice inlaid false key holes that appear to be maple. It is likely from the Sheraton or Empire period. It measures 16" by 16" by 7" It is an absolute knockout when you see it in person. Pictures in no way do it justice. It is missing both end pieces for the top. Miniature Antique 19thC English 3 Drawer Elm Valuables Chest with 2 Doors
Antique 19th Century Valuables Chest From the estate of a Vermont antique collector. This is a lovely little miniature chest. The wood is Elm and it has a dark finish. There are two doors on the front that have a lock- I do not have the key. Inside are three drawers with nice brass colored drawer pulls that fold flat into the drawer. The drawers have tiny hand cut dovetails front and back. Beveled edge on the top and the chest sits on a beveled edge base. Original finish. There is some light wear to the finish from years of use, but it is still in very nice antique condition. Ready to display. Miniature Chest measures 9.5" wide and 13" tall. Antique Pennsylvania PA Painted Miniature Blanket Chest Signed American Folk Art
WOW! I mean W.O.W. FRESH from an incredible estate this past weekend. This OLD(avid collectors) estate was packed with EARLY AMERICAN items-furniture. Boxes, chests, maps, ect. I snatched this baby up! This early Pennsylvania chest is gorgeous-all hand made-dovetailed construction with square nails. BEAUTIFUL original paint! Signed several times in several places on the bottom-I can only make one out for sure-Amanda Batz. If you google her, you will find right away an Amanda Batz who was born in Pennsylvania on May 1st, 1836. I don't know if this was passed down to her or painted by her? There are other names and possibly dates which, with a little more time and effort, could probably be made out and someone could probably figure out when and for whom and possibly by whom this was made.
