1800's ANTIQUE VICTORIAN FLAT TOP WALL TRUNK CHEST DATED W/LOCK & KEY
Up for consideration is a rare. Restored, antique wall trunk. It has a working lock& key. It has dated hinges that read"Dec 22 1891" It has been cleaned well inside and out. A new covering was put inside to resemble the old, so no musty smell. All original hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish. New leather handles were put on. It has stress cracks and dings that add to the characture of the trunk. The measurements are: 32" long x 20" wide x 21" tall. Shipping, packing and insurance will cost $89.00. Jenny Lind Steamer Trunk/ Chest This is a Jenny Lind Steamer Trunk/ Chest. My best guess is that this dates to the mid 1800's. I purchased this in the Amish area of Pennsylvania about 30 years ago. It is in the same condition as it was when I purchased it. It is complete with the tray and the top has a compartment with a hinged door. The inside and the tray have been lined with wallpaper- beautifully done. To the best of my knowledge. All of the leather is original. It has the original Brass Lock with a star pattern. The key is included and the trunk does lock. The trunk automically locks when you close the lid. If the key is not present. The key must be in the lock and turned to the unlocked position to open the trunk. Measures approximately 30" Wide(without the side straps) by 17" Deep by 15" High. Because it has a flat top it would also make a great coffee/end table. Antique steamer trunk is in original antique condition. Made of wood strapping. Canvas and metal with fancy latches and decorative corner ends. Beautiful original ornate functioning metal hardware and working lock and key. All the metal hardware is in tack except for 2 missing metal buttons. One in back and one in front. The two leather handles/straps are missing on each side. The interior shows some darking and wear. Antique Victorian 1865 Wooden Dome Top Trunk Old Lock Original Finish ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Offered is a great antique wood dome top trunk. It has the original finish and great old hardware lock. Purchased at an antique auction it dates to the mid to late 1800's. The inside of the trunk is lined with layers of antique newspapers dating to 1865. Great old advertising. The newspapers are not in the best of condition and are hanging in some areas and falling apart. I have left them as they were found because it does help verify the age of the trunk. Most people will want to remove the paper and clean the trunk. You may be able to save some of the newspaper and advertising. The trunk measures about 11 inches high. It is 11 inches deep(front to back) and ... more21 inches side to side. It is in good antique condition. There are imperfections as would be expected. Marks in the wood here and there and there is a slight separation of the boards on one end as shown in the photos. Please refer to photo#5. The lid of the trunk has a separation in the boards; please refer to photos 7& 8. An unusual lock which I am not familiar with. It has a small lever which slides over the opening for the key and this does stick a little; it should loosen up nicely with a little care. I do not think all of the lock is there; it appears there should be another piece on the lid. As I said I am unfamiliar so I am not sure; just using my best guess in regards to the lock. Here for sale is an old iron lock with its original working key suitable to use on an old pine blanket box or trunk. It measures 3 1/2 inches wide. 2 1/2 inches high and 3/4 inch depth. The measurement from the top face to the centre of the key is 1 1/4 inch. The key measures 2 5/8 inches long. The main body of the lock housing the workings is 7/16 inch thick. The top face is 3/4 inch. Please note. The receiver isn't the original to the lock. It fits fine but when locked it doesn't lock tight. Nice Refinished Dome Arch Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/ Working Lock & Key
Nice Refinished Antique Arched Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a nice refinished primitive steamer trunk or travel trunk from the mid to late 1800's. It has the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 1 7 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 15 inches. This one has a very slight dome to the top. The trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are plenty of older stress marks on the wood. These older markings include nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. Some of the wood that makes up this trunk is rough cut and you can still see the saw blade marks on the wood. We have shown a picture of this on the top. The top center slat ... moreboard has been replaced with an old board off of a parts trunk. The two original slat boards on the top have grooves at the outer edge. The replacement one does not. There is a very small piece of the upper slat board missing at the front left side. It's not a big deal. We just thought we should mention it. If you look closely at the top view picture, you can see what we are talking about. This trunk has a working lock. The lower part of the lock is brass and original to this trunk. The upper part that goes into the lock is off of a parts trunk. We have matched up a key that does work with this lock so you can store your belongings away under lock and key if you want to. The metal parts that are not brass have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior. We have finished the interior wood with two coats of polyurethane. There are some typical stress cracks running across the bottom. Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Working Lock and Key
Charming Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a lovely refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 13 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This nice trunk consists of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in pretty good condition with some typical older distress marks which include nicks and dings mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards. And a couple of hairline stress cracks in the base wood. This one comes with the original working lock. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The front two latches are original and do work properly since the ... moresprings are intact. The metal parts which make up this trunk are not brass and have there been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing. Someone had drilled small holes in the wood and run rope through these holes to make handles for this trunk. They were rather lousy looking, so we have removed those handles and installed a pair of nice Amish made black leather stitched handles where these rope ones were. These handles are sturdy. Going to the interior, we have removed the paper lining which was worn out looking and finished the wood with two coats of polyurethane. A nice trunk maker's style picture of a Victorian woman standing in a boat on a pond has been added to the underside of the top. The exterior bottom has normal wear and we have finished the bottom to make it overall cleaner. This trunk could be used as a low coffee table, tv/stereo stand, and/or a storage chest anywhere in your home where storage space is needed. Estate Find ~ SMALLER Round LOG Shaped Antique Trunk Orig. Lock, Document Box
Please scan below description to read shipping fees/details ~ thanks Take a look at this interesting little antique trunk shaped like a bolster pillow or log. Measuring approx. 17" long x 8-1/4" x 7-5/8" tall. Complete with original lock, handle at the top for carrying and remnants of newspapers inside. This trunk looks like someone was starting to restore it. From my research, these trunks usually have hide skin or leather on the outside. The trend is to refinish them because the pine wood underneath is a beautiful pumpkin pin color dating from 1790 to 1830 these little roll trunks are quite hard to find. You will see in the photo that I have all the fixings to finish this beautiful trunk. Leave it as it is or add the extras to dress it up! The leather bands that go around the edges and a bottle full of brass prong tacks. ... moreThese are the same tacks on the trunk now so it should be a fun weekend project. Condition is very good for its age. The lock is original to the trunk. The wood has some tiny expansions where the pieces join which is common for wood to dry and separate. Keep in mind this trunk is 200 years old! There are no big uglies, no missing chunks, the piece is solid. I am not an expert on items we sell I only describe what I see to help you when you view the photos. It is my opinion that the brass hinges are not original but they open and close the trunk good and they look okay. The inside has remnants of antique newspaper. The bottom of the trunk is rougher wood and not finished. The finish is clean, there is no glue residue left on the trunk from the hide covering. All in all this has a lot of potential ~ take a look. EARLY 1800'S ANTIQUE AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE BLANKET CHEST TRUNK DRAWERS GRAB LOCK
Here is a fabulous antique American early 19th century Chippendale style footed pine blanket chest or trunk with drawers below. This delightful old trunk is 48 inches long by 21 1/2 inches front to back and 27 1/2 inches tall. The top chest is internally 44 1/2 inches long by 18 1/4 inches front to back by 15 inches deep. With a small lidded compartment 18 1/4 inches long by 5 inches wide by 4 inches deep as shown. The two lower drawers are hand dovetailed as shown in close ups and measure 20 1/4 inches wide by 16 1/2 inches front to back by 4 inches deep. Again, as stated under condition, I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design, quality, construction and condition of this great antique blanket chest. As far as provenance, my consignor has owned the trunk for a number of years and remembers ... moreonly that it was acquired through an estate sale. Specifically, this is what he told me was his recollection: The story I was told is that a woman named Bessie Hicks bought the trunk while visiting Muncie Valley PA in the 1950's after WWII. She brought it back to Atlanta GA where she lived. When her estate was broken up it made it's way to Miami and then to Charleston. He added. It appears to have some minor repairs around the feet. Also some sign of blue paint under the bottom. The lock is very fascinating and secured with rose head nails. Lock and key work nicely. That's about all I remember about it. Anyway. It's appearance is consistent with early 1800's Pennsylvania work in the Chippendale style so I chose to report this information. It is certainly a lovely antique blanket chest in very nice condition. Up for consideration is a very nice victorian trunk. It has a working lock and key. The left lattch. Or hasp, is missing but still closes securely with lock. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. It is a nice trunk that is sturdy. Refinished Double Lock Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Two Working Locks and Key Here is the first double lock refinished dome top trunk that we have had in a very long time. This trunk dates back to the late 1800's. Here are the dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. This large dome top is made up of pine base wood, ash or oak outer slat boards, and the dome is made up of early ply. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. This one has a lot of distress marks which include areas on the wood that are darker in color, probably due to moisture in various places on this trunk. Also there are stress cracks running across the top wood that makes up the dome. There are typical nicks and dings in various ... moreplaces. This particular trunk was a little more weathered when we received it than most of the trunks we refinish. So we did make it as nice as we could, but do want to mention some of the characteristics. This one comes with the two factory original working locks. We have matched up a key that does work in each of the locks. You can lock your personal belongings away from others if you want to. The metal parts making up this trunk are not brass, so we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps and the handle caps have an embossed star on them. You could store a lot of belongings inside this trunk since it is pretty large. It may look nice at the foot of the bed in the bedroom or anywhere in your house where storage space is needed. If you are one who enjoys collecting rustic more primitive style antiques, then this one might be just the right one for you since it is more rustic than most trunks that we refinish. Antique Steamer Trunk With Eagle Lock Canvas and Wood Nice Condition
I am selling a really nice antique steamer trunk. This piece is in really nice condition. The interior panels are all solid, no rotting. The hinges are tight, when you close the lid it matches up perfectly at the latches and lock. The original handles were missing so I attached handles on it to make it easy to move but they are not in the original posistion as shown in pics. Some of the corner metal pieces are dented, other ones are perfect. The lock is an Eagle Lock brand lock, I dont know if it locks because I dont have the key so I wont completely close the lock. The trunk is 35 inches long, 21 inches deep and 13 inches tall. If you have any questions please ask and I'll be glad to help.

Antique Primitive Pine Sugar Chest with Bracket Feet Lock Americana Trunk Brown
This lovely primitive sugar chest came out of an old house here in Savannah. Georgia. It was found lined with a layer of newspaper dating from 1839-1840, so we are guessing this piece dates to the early part of the 1800s. The actual chest appears to be made from pine, which as far as we can tell is a bit unusual for a sugar chest. The box sides/top are all made from one slab of wood, so it is made from old large timber. The chest has one large deep compartment and then a small drawer in the bottom, each with a lock. We do not have the keys to the locks. It has low, simple bracket feet. The hardware is old, but most likely not the original, as the chest came with one of the original knobs loose inside. The knobs that are on there now are similar to the original. It was also painted with a brown wash at some point. The edges are all dovetailed, ... moreand there are old square nails used in the construction. This is a beautiful piece of primitive americana that most likely originates from the southern region, somewhere between North Carolina and Georgia. This large antique steamer trunk from the late 1800. Called"Neverbreak Trunks" manufactured by L. Goldsmith& Son, Newark, NJ USA. The trunk is in original unrestored condition, just cleaned up. It is black painted canvas over wood with wood strips and brass trim. There is riveted tin trim on all of the edges, Heavy leather handles and straps. Has two removable trays covered in fabric. The top tray snaps close and has three compartments with a removable hat/collar piece. Measures 36" long, 22" wide and 24" high. Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Working Lock & Key & Tray
Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock. 2 Keys and Tray My husband and I have refinished over 100 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice refinished flat top steamer t runk. The particular d iminsions for this are 30 1/4" length. 18 1/2" width and 20 1/2" heig ht. We refinished this particular trunk by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. Inside and out. A fter t his. We applied 2 layers of tung oil to the trunk and tr ay. After lots of research on rest oration. We have found that it is better to finish old wood ... morewith tung oil as it helps preserve the wood from drying and cracking from the inside out. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made brow n leather hand l es. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Th is trunk also ha s the two original latches newly painted and working properly.Attached to the lid of this trunk is the original stay so it will remain opened when wanted. Included with this trunk is the original tray. Newly sanded and finished. Working the way down to the b ottom there are 4 original metal casters that are securely in p lace and working properly. Up for consideration is a nice steamer trunk with two lift out trays. It has a working. Solid brass, lock and key. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. It is a nice trunk that is sturdy. ANTIQUE Metal Bound STAGE COACH Trunk 19th Cent. Ornate Brass Lock LEATHER LINED
Beautiful Refinished 19th Century Stage Coach Trunk Solid Wood. Was covered on the outside w/ paper, but most of paper was gone paper was cleaned off. And trunk was sanded, and finished leather straps were added to the trunk. Original ones were gone I chose these straps. As the design on them was much like that of the original paper: The handle on the left side(when facing the front) is the original handle. Amazingly still very sturdy, the other is a replacement, matches very well The loop at the top above the lock is a replacement. Matches the handles The lock could presumably be made to work again. But doesn't at this time, I don't have the key either The lock is beautiful. It is a Jenny Lind style lock, very intricate and beautifully designed The inside is totally lined with leather. I chose this instead of paper or fabric since ... moreso many trunks from this century were covered with leather, I thought it would be awesome to have one lined with it instead, makes it unique and luxurious: The leather lining also has two very functional pockets on the back side. Inside, that are very useful for holding small items you might place in your trunk! measurements are 31in x 16in& 17.5 tall excellent condition!

Nice Old Antique Trunk. I am not sure of the exact age. But the lock on it is from Eagle Lock Co. Eagle lock was in business from 1833-1954. So the age of the trunk lies in that time frame. It is adorned with black metal trim and ornate brass accents. This old trunk does show it's age in places. But there is nothing major. A few nicks, and there are a few dents or ding marks in the black metal trim. On the top front you will see there is 2 areas of chipped or worn off wood, a small amount enough to where wood putty filler should be an easy fix if you wish. There is also a very small chip place on the side you can see in pic 6. One of the hinges on the back is missing one button, see pic 9, and there is some separation on some of the brass corner pieces you can see in pic 12. I think I have mentioned every flaw. But please see all the ... morepictures for the best description. For a trunk this old I consider its condition to be normal. Also, this would make a nice coffee table. the top is flat. Quite Large: 34.5" x 20" x 28.5" High The beautiful trunk from the 1800s is an attractive p ie ce of furniture. The metal work is incredible with lots of detail. If you look at the picture of the lock you will see Eagle Lock Company of Terryville CT. The trunk has a hidden compartment in the lid. There are a couple very nice pictures inside the trunk.
