Amazing vintage 1040's era rainbow Mexican Saltillo serape blanket. Tightly woven wool with all the colors of the rainbow. Mexico flag colors and a beautiful diamond center design. Fringe is cream colored silk with hand tied ends. Measures 72" in length without fringe, 84" total length with fringe x 33 1/4" wide. Blanket was held up to sunlight and there are no holes and no areas where the sun comes thru. Blanket shows no wear or fading. None of the fringe is missing. Frayed or cut off. A few of the fringe ties look like some tea or coffee was spilled on it many years ago. Again very faint and only mentioned for accuracy of description. Wonderful bright colorful serape! LATE 19th C ANTIQUE LRG HAND LOOM HEAVY BLANKET FINE ESTATE MUSEUM QUALITY LOOK
If you've been following our listings. You know that we've been listing so many vintage and antique textiles and I swear that each trunk is more exciting than the last! We're continuing to list items, and have just opened up a trunk whose majority of coverlets/coverlids are from the 19th century, mid point to about 1900. There are several possibly Ohio or perhaps brought from Sweden, pieces, each one more intricate and solid than the last one. Even to my untrained eye, these pieces deserve good homes, some are museum quality and some were appraised in the early 80s so we have more info about them. The trunks were sold locally as they were too big to ship but I can tell you that these pieces mostly came from Germany, Austria and Sweden and are family pieces handed down over more than four generations. We will list the coverlets ... moreand blankets, quilts and bedspreasds, towels and tablecloths, hand loomed rugs, lap blankets, embroidered pieces and so many folk art and ethnic pieces until they are all sold. These aren't your run of the mill pieces so you may want to check back often to see what we have listed next. We usually list Fri-Sun for 7 day listings and on Mon-Tue for 5 day listings. Offered here is yet another simply beautiful antique blanket/coverlet in an unusually woven pinwheel swirl design. The weaving is fine and the colors are a deep midnight blue. Cream and a reddish salmon color, understated and set off beautifully by the dark blue color. This is about 90" x 72" and photographed on a king size bed so that you can judge its size. The weaving we've learned and believe is called overshot weave and the history is below. This is circa late 1890s and in beautiful condition with what I see as primitive stitching to join the two pieces together and then an area on an edge that may have been a repair or at one time the initials

Antique Coverlet and Wool Blanket Pieces for Crafting
The rust colored coverlet piece(top left in 1st photo and background in 2nd) measures 34" by 16" It does show wear in a few places. The two small strips from coverlets measure 19 1/2" by 5 1/2" for the multicolored piece and 25" by 4" for the dark blue piece. The blue piece has worn areas. The blue windowplane check blanket section on the bottom left in the 1st photo and the left in the 3rd measures 36" by 11 1/2" I see a few small holes and a small area with some staining. The blue plaid blanket piece on the right is in good condition and is 32" by 20 1/2" The small rust plaid piece is lighter is weight and measures 15" by 9" I am always happy to answer questions.

Stunning vintage 1870's steamer trunk. Little different to the normal ones from this era. Quite a topic of conversation with visitors this one. The large impressive chest comes metal upright banding. These were typically made at home and are a kind of folk art that is a lost art in today's world. The seam is primitive and there are a couple areas where the stitching needs to be sewn again. This is a Antique Horsehair Buggy Blanket with a Deer or Elk Scene and Forestry. Item is in good condition for its age but not perfect. Some of the old binding needs to be stitched back in place here and there and when you look close you can see that the picture part has some little holes and thread runs through it. But not very noticeable till you look close. Exact age is unknown but it is very old you can see that by the old fabric binding around it and after all it's been quite awhile since there were any Buggys around but as thick and heavy as it is I'm sure it kept someone very warm. The back side is solid black horsehair and the front side is a very scratchy material such as a very coarse wool. Would look great as a Wall hanging or rug. Antique Pine Lift Top Two Drawer Blanket Chest from 1700's beautiful wood
Beautiful blanket chest features a front panel of pine that is a single cut- this size cut-pine probably can no longer be found. Likely dates to the 1700's. With lift top and two lower drawers. It is a warm-toned and handsome piece. Replacing hardware would improve its look. Top lift panel was damaged in a move and professionally repaired. Finish has not been touched. Antique pine Chippendale chest-over-drawer or blanket chest. Lift top covers a generous storage well and is held in place with remarkable old cotter-pin or snipe hinges. Inside. There is a smaller storage box and a drawer. There is one large drawer below with dovetail joints. It has two brass willow mount and bail handle pulls that match the brass escutcheon above. Bracket feet and scalloped skirts on the front and sides. This piece has a beautiful aged patina Overall. The chest is in good condition. The mohair is antique. The backing seems to be from a later 1940's material, similar to a bark cloth type. The throw is very heavy in weight like an old quilt. Antique Asian Carved Camphor Wood Blanket Chest w/Dove Tail Corners
We are pleased to offer to the market this beautifully carved Asian blanket chest. This dates to the early 1900's. We do not know the maker of this item. Constructed from camphor wood. With dove tail corners, this chest is beautifully carved on every side except for the bottom. The chest measures 19" high x 35.5" long x 18" wide. The front and back of the chest have different scenes on them as well as the top. The two end panels have the same scene on them. The bracket feet also have a design carved into them. The lid has shell carved handles on the front. There is a sheet of thin wood on the inner section lining the interior that is slightly warped and coming loose. It is unique enough to hang on a wall or use in a rustic cabin as a warm throw and if you are lucky enough to own a horse and sleigh or buggy this would be a perfect and functional warm item. There are two small flaws(about the size of a quarter) and as I have said one of the"eyes on the bear head is missing. The measurements of the blanket are 44 inches x 58 inches. The colors have not faded. It is superb condition. For the Aymara and Quechua Indians in the Peruvian Andes. Textile art has been the major creative outlet. These descendants of Inca and other Pre-Colombian weavers have concentrated in recent times on intricate warp-patterned structures, producing exquisite fabrics that were both functional and ceremonial. Beginning with traditional motifs, each weaver freely created his or her own variations. Because designing was done with the warps, these articles are all striped. This beautiful vintage woven coverlet from the 1930s has been in hiding for a very long time and needs to be seen. Formerly held in a collection and kept in ideal storage conditions this one emerges in superb vintage condition. Nice and clean with the exception of one spot that can be seen in the last photo. Nothing to stop you from enjoying this one. The striking pattern is full of tiny little details that make it most appealing to the eye. The paper tag on one corner is a sale tag from long ago. This coverlet has no sign of a makers tag. The overall size is 78 X 94 inches. This is a very well made and light weight cotton coverlet. Hard to tell which side is the best as it views nicely on both sides. The scalloped border is nicely finished with a square knot type stitched edge. Fine design detailing in the pattern. CONDITION: Just a few ... morethread pulls that are hard to fnd and one spot that looks removable on one corner to worry about. Otherwise. It is in great condition and very soft and strong. It does not appear to have been used much. There are no rips, tears or areas of wear to note. Nice uniform consistency overall with no evidence of thinning or weakness in the fibers. The colors are uniform. The condition of the fabrics is excellent. There is a no odor to this coverlet and it does not appear to have been exposed to smoke. Pets or abuse. It looks as if it has been kept from over exposure to sunlight. It has been very well cared for over the years. It has been carefully stored away from pets and in a smoke free clean environment. Antique- cotton warp and wool weft- heavy weight homespun blanket- from the late part of the 19th century. Woven with a repeating intricate geometric design along with a patterned border on two sides. The homespun wool is colored with vegetable dies and has variations throughout- it is a superb example of a home-made and hand-loomed textile for the bed. May be used on either side with one side showing more cranberry(wool weft) while the other side shows more white(cotton warp) see detail photograph. Fits a queen size bed or smaller- can be used as a throw as well. The over-all condition of this antique textile is excellent considering its' age- there are a few old stains(the largest one photographed- front and back-only visible on the cotton warp) a few minor pulls- no moth damage- no tears or loss- hand washed. Up for auction is an antique Chase Horsehair and Wool Buggy Sleigh blanket with a huge St Bernard or Retriever laying in the grass. The colors are very clear and bright. There are no holes or stains on the back or the front. It is in great condition for it's age. The only signs of wear or on the edges which are shown in the pictures. It came out of the Kirk& Job estate in Rising Sun. Maryland. It's a museum-quality piece that is very rare to find in this great shape. It is made of white wool and it has"R K B 1854" embroidered in pink on one part. The top also has hand-sewn trim in red, blue and pink coloring. Blanket measures over 6 feet long in each width and length. It has some light wear in places and some very small holes in a couple spots but overall it's in excellent condition for its' age. I have seen these blankets identified as both) The fabric is coarse and heavy. It feels like horse hair. Chase label attached on the back upper left hand corner. The back piece is dark black with no fading. The front has multi colors of red, green, tan, brown, and black with no fading whatsoever. It features a wonderful tiger skin.
