This particular piece of furniture still has the original tags attached on the inside of the cedar chest. This Roos Sweetheart Chest was built in 1947 and sold at a cost of $250! The cedar chest as a whole is in good condition. The inside of the chest has a top tray lined in felt and the interior is lined with aromatic red cedar. The outside is constructed of hardwood veneersand does have its share of nicks and scratches being consistent with its age of over 65 years especially around the bottom side corners. THANK YOU. Here is a stunning and very desirable approximately 150 year old antique Japanese small Choba tansu. Or merchant's chest, dating from the Meiji Era around the mid to late 1800's, featuring a lock bar in the center and classical safe compartment at the bottom right. It boasts a natural light colour with a rich honey patina, beautifully shaped hand forged iron hardware, wood peg construction and 8 drawers of various sizes that provide versatile storage options including a full width drawer at the top. It is in excellent overall condition for it's age. But has a little lock issue: as there is no key and the top drawer lock is in the closed position with the drawer open it will not shut all the way. The safe compartment has a tendency to swing open by itself since there is no key to lock it. The lock issue does NOT affect the lock bar which slides in and out of place properly. Please read the description and examine the photos for more details on the condition. Locksmiths and larger antique dealers will own sets of multiple keys to fit a broad range of locks so you should be able to get the drawer unlocked easily enough so it slides into place. With a little patience you could also find an antique key that fits right here on ebay(I can recommend a seller who regularly stocks this type of item) Other small issues worth noting are a small repair in the bottom corner of the smallest drawer just above the safe compartment. The larger top drawer is stiff to open and close due to age and needs a tweak, and one corner plate in the back is bent out of shape. Given it's age there is some wearing off of the blackening of a few small spots of the iron, and a couple of small nails are missing. Hello. You are viewing my sale for an Antique Sturdi Cedar Chest By Francis F. Hamilton. This is a"Margeret No. 580" according to the indentation on the bottom. This chest has an Early Patent Date of"Aug. 26, 1924" and the final date reads"March 9, 1926" These dates as well as others are indented on the bottom as well. This may have been a salesman sample of a larger size chest that was identical to this smaller chest. This is only my guess however. This chest measures when closed 4 and 1/2" tall by 12 and 3/4" long by 8 and 1/2" wide. On the interior there is a green felt fabric as well as a gold lace trim. There are the letters" K E V N" stuck to the interior section plastic dividers. This appears to be a modern add on for someone who owned this before. The trim and accents throughout ... morethis chest are amazing. The chest is in good condition with some minor wear present. The rear hinges are a little loose. Virginia at a bankruptcy auction for $500. Placed in charge of the small, corrugated iron building, his son Edward Hudson Lane decided to convert the facility in order to make cedar chests. The Lane family was unsure of what success they would have selling chests, so they originally named the company The Standard Red Cedar Chest Co. The firm manufactured and sold chests used to store linens and other items for setting up housekeeping, as well as keepsakes. Early production of about ten chests a day was sold through independent salesmen working on commission. In its early days. The business was run on a shoestring budget. STUNNING ANTIQUE 1926 ROOS CEDAR HOPE CHEST! The Ed Roos Company. Based in Forest Park, IL, was in business from 1916-1951 and made chests in popular styles from Edwardian to Art Deco. Featuring double locks and two levels. This beautiful Hope Chest is multi-functional and a great collectors piece! The first shelf has four felt compartments including one large area that you can strap down a blanket or anything really! The largest compartment under the first shelf is lined with thick paper with holes. This method is used to protect both the cedar and any items stored. Articles and cloths along with other items can stick to the cedar and possibly ruin both. The lining helps the cedar breath. And keeps items from attaching to the wood. The entire Chest has wood inlay around the body. And lovely carved embellishment around the edges. Antique American C hippendale Cedar Chest on Chest Bermuda Circa 1780 Description: A fine American c edar bonnet top chest on chest f rom Bermuda circa 1780. The chest features a gorgeous patina. Two short over three graduated drawers, the base having three drawers on bracket feet. The top has three replacement finials which are not attached, shown in the pictures) The finish and hardware are probably original though the nuts on all the pulls have been replaced by square ones. There is a fairly significant repair to the top, see photos. Other than that, the chest is in very good condition with normal wear and tear. It is approx. 68" high by 39" wide by 22" deep. Offering this very attractive antique Lane small profile Cedar Chest style#336 with a manufacturing date of July 26. 1927. This petite beauty is just 36 inches wide, 17 1/2 inches deep and just 14 1/2 inches tall. It could have been or could be slightly taller if the caster feet were replaced. It has two copper or brass plated gate post looking straps which is a nice matching add to the fine petina of the cedar wood. There are some rough marks and finish misses, heavy on left front edge and some other visible scratch markings in other areas of the lid. See Photos. Inside nice and clean with original Lane labelling and informations sheet. Serial and model marking on bottom. Selling as pictured and described.

Very Unique Antique American Cedar& Brass Chest with Ornate Brass Trim This is a beautiful vintage American cedar box. Dove tail design. Also has a small heart shaped lock. There is an ornate brass handle on two sides. The fancy Brass bands on the lid are marked with a Daisy at the Center on each band. The metal work seems to be a combination of brass. Brass plating and some metal that might have a plated or painted finish. The cedar has a very nice color and finish, there a few marks from age or bumps to it, but overall excellent for it's age and you only see them upon careful inspection. The inside is not lined with paper or fabric. On the bottom. There are four small"feet" at the corners. Has small initials NH on center of lid. Previous owner maybe. Beautifully designed. Antique Miniature Lane Cedar Chest 1938 Dated
Miniature Lane Cedar Chest dated 1938 with the name of the High School girl who received it for graduation. This is one of the harder to find Miniature Lane Cedar Chests with the upright. Rounded corners containing 3 grooves. These chests were often given go stores that sold the Lane Cedar Chests and those stores would then pass them on to graduating seniors. This chest is in very good condition overall. It does have some nicks and scratches in it. However the finish is intact, no splits, cracks or chips in the wood. All the seams and joints are in excellent condition with no damage to them either. Lock is intact and even the wooden feet on the bottom(a rare option on these miniature chests if you look around) are 100% complete. Chest even has it's original hinges inside the lid, another rare feature as the majority of these have them ... moreon the outside. On the inside of the chest there is a black stain running along the bottom edge and also a large white stain. All of this is shown in the photographs. Please note: This is a used miniature cedar chest 75 years old. As such this chest does have signs of wear and tear, nicks, scratches and the stains as I've mentioned. It is not new, it shows the character of it's years, that while it is in very good condition, this chest was used and loved obviously by it's owner as it is proud to show you. Obtained at an estate sale. Do not know the history but it is a really unusual and a very early piece. Not sure of age but appears to be 19th century. Is painted gray all over and painted with scenes over top, front and one side. Other sides were started but not finished. On the top in the painting of the girl the date of 1948 has been painted in. On the left side someone has signed their initials. Please see photos for description. Dovetailed all over, in good condition has a split that has been repaired on the back of the lid. The sides are shaped at the bottom-it has copper banding on the front and on the top-this is tarnished. The original clasp is in place and it has the original hinges. There are handles on each end. This is a beautiful cedar chest from China that has been in the same family for many years. The wood has a carved design and features hand carved inlays that could be stone. Shell, or bone. This is a very nice Lane Cedar chest from the 1930s possibly 40s. It is all original and is art deco period. It has a rounded top with waterfall desighn. And has matching book end design. The exterior wood is tiger maple i believe, though i have seen others listed as blonde mahogony in classic heringbone design.so not 100% sure. The manufacterers label says 70% cedar. Has original finish with original lock with Lane logos, easures 46" wide- 19" front to back and is 23" tall. See pictures for more info and condition. Some ware and scuffs consistant with an older piece. be sure to see picture of top with deep 4" scratch. A good polishing would go along way to bringing back this chest.
