More treasures from Grandpa's garage. He use to restore trunks in the 1980s. Found was this box of misc parts from various trunks from the late 1890s thru the 1930s. Nothing is reproduction. And all have a beautiful aged patina(yeah, that includes rust! What is pictured is exactly what you will receive. Refinished Monitor Top Waterfall Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With 2 Locks &Tray
Gorgeous Refinished Antique Monitor Top Steamer Trunk With Two Working Locks& a Key and Interior Tray Here we have finished a lovely. Fancy monitor top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 39 inches. From floor to top is 25 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 22 1/2 inches. This beautiful monitor top gets it's name from the late 1800's USS Monitor warship. It was a metal clad frigot that must have had this type of shape to it. Anyhow. This trunk has the waterfall or Deco style edge at the top. It is really neat how the trunk maker made the slat boards bend down around the edges. It is a pretty steep bend and it is incredible how they can make the boards conform to it back then. This beautiful trunk consists of rough cut pine and oak base wood with ... moreoak or ash outer slat boards. A lot of the boards are not planed down, they are straight off the saw mill and have the saw blade markings on them. If you look at the close up picture of the top, there are some boards on the top that are wormwood in which there are little holes here and there on the boards. You may seem some in the picture. A lot of antique collectors like to find furniture that has this type of wood on them. The wood has been prepared and finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect the wood and give it a nice appearance. This trunk comes with a lot of fancy metal hardware and a very nice feature are the factory double locks which do work and are signed. They are signed, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn U.S.A. We have matched up a key that does work both of these locks, so you can store your items under lock and key away from others if you want to do so. The center latch is also original and does work properly since the springs in intact. These monitor tops only come about for us to refinish in a ratio of about 80 to 1 in which we only get about 2 or so a year to do. For sale is a Vintage 1800's Steamer Trunk. It is a wood lined in old tin or metal with the hinges painted gold. Has old locks on the front.No Key.is not locked or will it lock. Very nice Trunk it still has the original linning and top folding tray with 2 of the 3 leather tie snaps.Very sturdy trunk,could be used as a coffee table,and would hold alot of stuff for storage. A Ladycomet Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/2 Locks,Key,& Tray
Beautiful Refinished Large Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Two Working Locks& a Key and Interior Tray This one has surely come a very long way from when we purchased it. This one was completely painted pastel green on the exterior like they used to do in the 1970's with a lot of furniture items. We spent a heck of a lot of time stripping over 99% of the ugly paint off of the exterior. The trunk should date back to around 1900 or so. It is quite unusual in which it has the double locks. This beautiful trunk is made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood has turned out to be a nice tannish brown color on the base wood and a tannish color to the slat boards. The wood is in pretty good condition although there are some scrapes and nicks ... moreon the wood in various places along with some hairline stress cracks. All of these markings are very common on most all of the trunks that we refinish. When we received this trunk. The lower locks were cut off. So we have installed two vintage Eagle Lock Company locks, both of which will work with the one key provided. The upper receiving part for the locks on this trunk are original indicating that we have replaced the locks with similar ones. Here are the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches, from floor to top is 20 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 17 1/4 inches. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass and have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. All of our leather for these trunks is obtained from an Amish man in an Amish community near our home here in Pennsylvania. This beautiful flat top trunk which is a true flat top with no factory arch, did have a leather strap that ran up the front and across the top. It was missing, so we have replaced it with an Amish made leather strap with roller buckle. It

Antique 1900s Steamer Trunk Wardrobe Leather Yellow 42x23" EXCELSIOR Locks Brass
Early Vintage Travelling Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk dates back to about 1910. 42" tall X 23" wide and deep. Cured genuine leather stretched over a sold wood frame. Yellow in color with a nice patina. All edges and corners protected by brass plating. There are 6 functioning ball type wheels on the bottom which allows the user to roll the trunk while flat. And an additional 2 functioning wheels allow the user to roll the trunk while standing on end and towing with the leather handle(picture shown) All metal edges do have some wear but this gives the trunk a great look. The locking hardware is functioning. And is stamped EXCELSIOR#4230 Made in Stamford, Conn USA. Excelsior began making this lock in 1910. The locking mechanism is controlled by the exterior latch which in turn stabilizes the drawers for travel(shown in picture) There ... moreis 1 key from the Independent Lock Co#1076 Made in Fitchburg. Mass USA(valued at $18.95 on Ebay) The interior fabric is a copper monochromatic damask which is in good shape considering the age(picture shown) Once settled at their destination. The traveller may lift the padded top portion of the trunk up using the attached hinges to reveal and unlock the hanging garments(see main picture) There are 5 drawers which feature the same copper damask on their fronts. And brown lining within(picture shown) The top drawer is missing the lock, the bottom drawer is missing the handle, and both drawers do have a little water damage. There are 4 original hangers(1 shirt. 1 pant, and 2 coat) These hangers rest upon a chrome bar which extends outward 18" to allow the traveller to peruse their garments and avoid wrinkling. The hanging garments are protected from dust during travel by a copper damask curtain that snaps closed at the bottom. Approximated weight is 85 lbs. Antique brown metal steamer trunk. Trunk measures 30" length x 17" wide x 12" high. Brass hardware includes: one main lock(missing key) Two large draw bolt locks, corner and center brass reinforcers/corner protectors.and two leather handles which appear newer/replaced. Antique/Vintage wardrobe Steamer Travel Trunk locks with keys
Vintage/Antique wardrobe steamer trunk dark green exterior blue interior. Exterior- Scuffs and scratches visible are typical of its use over the years. Some light rust noted to brass parts visible in photos. No structural damage as far as dents or holes. Aligns properly closes tight and locks. The two original keys are included fits exterior lock and interior drawer lock. There appears to have been a large label of some sort removed from the top of the trunk(top meaning trunk standing in position to open) This has left behind a dull spot on the finish. Leather handle is in place but has deteriorated and is broken. The broken portion is under the metal clamp and is not visible. The brake in the leather is hidden leaving the handle the ability to serve esthetical purposes. Interior- left side- Top lifts up. Curtain folds back to three wooden ... morehangers on an extendable rack. Midway an adjustable bar is designed to hold hanging clothes in place while trunk is in transit. Located at the bottom is a vinyl flap with three snaps. It attaches in the back and snaps in in the front, great for shoe storage. Right side- Four pull out drawers. The drawers operate properly alight we'll and have no structural damage. On the outside portion of some of the lowers drawers some of the finish is pealing. This is not visible unless you remove the drawer and turn it around to inspect the portion that faces the inside of the cabinet. The interior of the drawers(where clothes touch drawer) is intact. The top drawer has an operational lock. Original key included. A metal bar is attached to the trunk behind the drawers. It runs vertical the length of the drawers. I believe it's purpose is to lock the other drawers when the top drawer is locked. I am not sure how it works to determine if it is functional. Questions please message me. Thanks for looking.
