It's 20 inches long. 12 inches wide and 11 inches tall. You see the condition, she definitely has character. The bare wood was once covered with a heavy type decorative paper, most of that is gone but you see some remnants of that in places. The original label was found in the trunk. It belonged to a gentleman in Escanaba Michigan. Maybe you can reincorporate the label back into a repurpose project(maybe lacqure it onto the top side? There is leather and metal construction incorporated into this little trunk. The leather handle is broken and the leather straps are gone with just some of their remnants being in place. Antique Saks Fifth Avenue Hartman Trunk Co. PATHFINDER Leather Steamer Suitcase
This antique Hartman Trunk Co. Steamer Suitcase/trunk has great appeal and character. Early 1900's. Covered in leather/cowhide with a pink silk interior this piece was sold by Saks Fifth Avenue. Bronze hinges with a really neat mechanism. Over all condition is great for the age. Leather hinge on the back has torn on the left side. The original owners initials are stamped on the front and have not work. The name of the owner is still on a travel tag attached to a Holland America cruise liner tag. A bronze Saks Fifth Avenue tag is also on the front. The name of this trunk is called the PATHFINDER. Really nice piece of history. Priced to sell. Any questions please feel free to ask!

I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried ... morein the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. Hello! This antique Hartmann suitcase is quite a rare find. This lovely dark leather case features a patterned gold fabric inside and was most likely purchased in 1934. The tag inside reads"As exhibited by Hartmann at A Century of Progress" This model was introduced at the Chicago World's Fair in 1933. Where the theme was"A Century of Progress" It featured the breakthrough technology of belt leather covering, a basswood frame, and inverted stitching. This beautiful piece of history would make a great display, perfect addition to a collection, or a wonderful authentic prop at a vintage or southern themed wedding reception. This antique case is in good condition considering its age and use. There is normal wear to the leather in the form of cracks. Scratches, etc. The wear is mostly concentrated to the corners and edges ... moreof the case. Structurally the case in wonderful shape, with no dents or damage. The hardware is in great condition and the latches work wonderfully. The inside fabric only has one small stain at the bottom, near the back(about the size of a quarter) The elastic in the ruffled pockets is in perfect shape. Great Small Wooden Camelback Trunk Suitcase This great small tall trunk. Case measures 13 inches tall, 13 1/2 inches by 9 1/2 inches wide. The case is made of thin wood. With a leather handle on top. It has a beautiful metal latch. I have had several people in the"antique business" take a look at this trunk and they have no idea as to exactly WHAT it's purpose was. They guess the date of it's manufacture as early as 1930's to as late as 1950's. I have spent hours on the internet looking up Camelback Trunk salesman samples. Hat boxes, overnight cases, etc. There are no stamped markings. Etc. anywhere! What I DO know is this is an absolutely beautiful little wooden case and if I had anywhere to sit it. The inside, underneath of the handle is ivory celluloid. Gold letterd"H. Mc C. monogram, just below handle. There is one large gathered pocket on the inside of the top, and three along the inside panels. There are four, hold down, ribbon ties(one tie is missing) The top left corner, of the lid has a 2" X 1" dark stain. All material is intact. There are a couple of dark stains, seen of the inside, bottom, along the front length(not bad, and shown in 2nd to last photo) Outside: Front has two latch closures that work. On the right outside panel there are four brass feet, to stand case on it's side. The left outside panel used to have a handle, but no longer. Antique Leather Luggage Trunk Suitcase Seat Brass Tacks Monogram 1850 Stagecoach
Here is a real antique. Stagecoach, train luggage trunk. It is leather over wood and it's embellished with brass tacks and a monogram. Has the bottom part of the original lock. Has both handles. The inside is covered with blue and white striped ticking or cloth. That's in very good shape. It has a drop open door in the lid that was used to put either dirty clothes or unmentionables(as they called underwear in those days) Then the top was padded and you could sit on the trunk as a seat as you were waiting for the train or stagecoach. LV trunks are highly collectible but the stories behind them make them all unique and sought after. These are from the late 1800s to early 1900s. They have been together for years and I don't want to seperate them. These belonged to my client's uncle. He was a Superintendent in the building 1115 5th Avenue. New York NY. The story goes that he was given these by a resident. He never used them or traveled with them and passed them on to his neice. The original owner of the cases traveled first class on the Famous SS United States Cruise Liner from New York to Paris as indicated by the stickers. I don't know if it was the maiden voyage. I do know John Carradine traveled on the ship but I can't say these are his. There were a lot of very famous people that lived in the 1115 5th Ave Buidling as well as those that traveled on that ship. The smaller case measures 28 X 17 X 8.5. It has the LV Sticker inside 149 New Bond Street, 70 Champs Elysees Paris. The serial number on the lock is 071745. The larger case. Steamer trunk is 44 x 21.5 x13. This one has the initials DTA in red and has the Paris stamp from the US Lines and the First Class H stamp on it. The serial number on the lock is 045509. I've included a brief history of the ship below. You can buy additonal items from the ship right here on Ebay as they were auctioned a few years ago. These case would make a great coffee table. Bedside stands or just a fun display piece. They are in quite good condition. They have not been exposed to smoke and are clean smelling inside. A religious man Shwayder named one of his initial cases as Samson(which is the one I have here} after the Biblical strongman. The metal latch that closes the trunk says Shwayder trunk manufacturing Denver colorado. The 2 metal pieces on the sides that hold the handle says Shwayder Samson Denver. These 3 marble white faux leather on wood Samsonite Streamlite suitcases and trunk are in great shape from the 1950's and 1960’s! RARE TRUNK! These trunks are very hard to find. THrough research I have found that a lot of these were just made for display and very few were made. The largest trunk measures roughly 30L" x 16W" x 12.5H” The carry-on/wardrobe measures roughly 21L" x 9W" x 19H” The smaller train/make-up case measures close to 13L" x 8.5W" x 9H" You can see from the pics the color of the exterior and interiors as well as the various pouches and straps. These are all Samsonite and there is a key for the entire set. These cases could be used for a number of things besides luggage. A very popular use is for camera equipment or speciality tools. By installing foam packaging and cutting it to fit ... moreyour camera or tools is a stylish and less expensive way to protect and transport. These type of cases can also be used for decor such as end tables. Shipping includes insurance and a delivery confirmation. Delivery confirmation is not a tracking number. It is there to prove delivery. I usually ship suitcases by wrapping in shipping paper and taping. This cuts costs by not using boxes. These cases are sold as is.
