It has beautiful grain, some carved accent details, and is designed in a way that the grain of different sections runs in different directions, which gives it a uniquely beautiful look. It was made by the Roos Company in Illinois, and has a partial original label on the bottom, which has the serial number. The chest is 18.5” tall, 44” long, 19” wide, and 11” deep when the lid is open. It is made to lock, however, there is not a key with it.

I received the chest in the early-to-mid 70s and had it professionally refinished with a walnut stain in 1979. Some of the grain is slightly raised on the front(as seen in the picture) Several pictures were taken under different lighting conditions. There are a few very minor scratches. Beautiful. Antique, Vintage, Roos,cedar chest from the 30's is an amazing piece! It has nice. Stately carved feet, carved trim and a carved section on the front. It has the original Roos paper still attached inside and the original heavy paper lining is almost perfect.The only thing that really shows its age is some marking on the top. It has some scratches and a moisture stain. I went over it with an oil based scratched cover and it is by no means perfect on the top but as a whole, still displays beautifully. You also could always put a doily, cushion or tea tray on the top to hide the moisture stain. Please look closely at pictures. It is approx 45" long, 20" wide and 26 1/4" tall. This will be shipped through Greyhound and will have to be picked up at the Greyhound station nearest to you for $160.00.
