Antique? Vintage? Black forest? Large Carved Wood Trunk Chest
Not sure of age or origin of this truck. But looks too be pretty old. Close look at carvings and some imperfections can bee seen, so i believe hand carved. Looks too have been painted an off white and then a dark stain over it in the past. Quite a few nicks and scuffs reveal this history of paint and stain. Back has a split and a piece missing from a previous repair. Some screws on the hinges look too be old flat heads and some are newer phillips heads. Has oblong round ball legs. Lid does not completely close, has a quarter inch gap in front, maybe from warping from age. Inside has removable tray insert. Wood has a strong, but pleasant smell almost like cedar, but not sure what type of wood it is. Trunk measures 30 inches wide, 18 1/2 inches tall, 16 inches deep. Please study pics too see imperfections in the piece. Could use a good cleaning ... moreand some stain touch ups. Trunk is very heavy and large, and i will keep at local pick up. Fabulous 1800's Antique Doll or Child's trunk. In great shape for it's age- very sound structure and no mildew or musty smell. Measures in inches approximately: 9.75 D X 16 W X 11.5 H. Has been in my family since the early 1970's. Features: Small wooden chest of square design with lovely red/brown lithograph paper bearing beautiful designs. Inside there is a removable. 2 compartment top tray. Tray rails are solid and existing. Tray fits firmly and is supported. All metal stays are solid and in place. Paper covering is original. No mildew or musty smells. Metal features are not damaged nor bent. Lid closes firm and completely aligned. Hinge tight. Straight and completely aligned. Inside. Hinge to keep lid from closing unexpectedly(I have not confirmed if hinge locks fully extended, but the lid holds itself up just fine with ... morethe hinge nearly extended to full position) Noteable known defects- see pictures. Antique Trunk Wood Covered In Leather 1800's Metal Bands Beautiful Piece
Beautiful antique trunk. I had someone online look at pictures and he estimated it was from about 1890. The research I have done myself leads me to believe it was made between 1870-1890. It is made of wood and covered in leather. I believe that it's pine but I could be wrong. There are metal bands across the top and around the edges. Please see pictures this truck is old and has plenty of bumps and bruises. The leather handle straps are missing and there are several patches of leather missing on the top and front. There is also a crack in the lid. It definitely needs some TLC but is still beautiful and has tons of rustic charm. There is paper lining the inside that is torn and has some spots. This vintage doll trunk is 12" high. 6" wide, and 6" deep. It is made of wood covered with paper. The outside paper has scratches. Stains and tears. A leather handle is on top and decals decorate the outside. Inside paper is good. But has some stains. There is a drawer in the compartment above the clothes hook. A tie is on the opposite side. Massive 18th Century. Mid 1700's German Immigrants trunk. DomeTop wood and metal. Interior storage box with hand carved hinges. Hand forged iron work. Extremely thick wood. Impressive is the perfect adjective when describing the true craftsmanship of this nearly 300 year old relic. Very solid construction with wooden dowels and forged nails. Pictures do not do this piece justice. I do not have the key and the lock insert has been bent upwards to keep from locking. The one that is black– looks like a circus elephant as it is pulling wood and has some decoration on him. The challenges are in the tusks– some are missing one tusk or both. Check out the photos. This Antique Doll's Steamer trunk. Made of wood and paper wrapped is a humpback or dome type. It is a miniature of a dolls cloths trunk. The Trunk size is 7" long X 5" wide X 4 1/2" tall. It has a front metal latch that is complete at the top, not the bottom. The back hidges are complete and working. This paper exterior does show some wear at the bottom and on the corner on the right side. Also some wear at the top curves, left and right. There is a bit of wear at the top center. There is age discoloration, but this adds to the warmth and beauty of this piece. This trunk does not include a inside tray, but has the bracket for one. Stunning hand-carved Chinese camphor wood trunk. This trunk features a stepped top carved with intricate relief panels. Three of the sides also feature cartouches with carved scenes and the front is decorated with a pair of guardian foo dogs. A central brass latch with scalloped edges keep the trunk lid secured and the lid moves on brass hinges. A glass top is included with the piece to protect the top surface and allow the chest to be used as a table. It was not pictured because of the glare it created. Obscuring the details of the chest. Antique Steamer Trunk-Dome Top-metal & wood bands-inside tray-circa 1890-1910
Antique dome-topped steamer trunk. Believed to be circa 1890-1910. Wood and most of the metal is in very good shape(could easily be refinished) however, the protective metal bands at corners have received some damage over many years of steamer-travel and freight-handling. The large interior tray is intact, and one of the lid-compartment doors is also intact. Note the decorative panel inside the lid, which is vibrant in color and unblemished. The interior of the trunk has the strong smell of cedar, so I'm assuming that tray construction is of cedar wood underneath the papered covering. Sorry but there is no key. The lid hinges close just slightly"off-center, but the trunk does close and latch securely with care. Can't see a maker's mark, but labels(where legible) indicate travel to NY, so assume it is of American origin. RATTAN/WICKER/WOOD LIDDED CHEST/TRUNK/BOX Small decorative trunk/chest. Measuring 8" tall and 11" wide. It's colors are a mixture of brown, blonde, tan, and dark orange-red. It has round brass handles on either sides. The front closure is also brass. The inside of the chest measures 8" wide and 5" deep. The inside is lined in a thin dark burgundy material. No maker's mark or label. We do not know the age of this trunk. While we think it was given a weather beaten look to make it appear vintage. We are not sure about the wear on the inside, which has areas that are pretty worn. Since we are not the original owners of the chest, we can't be certain, but some of the wear may be genuine. Vintage Carved Wood Doll Trunk or Chest, possibly Salesmans Sample
This beautiful trunk is 5" tall. 7 1/2" wide and 3 3/4" deep. It opens from the top. As a trunk, the carved doors on the front are for show only and don't open. Possibly a salesman's sample. It's a walnut color. But I think the wood is mahogany. There is a small chip on the tip of one of the front feet. I see no marks to indicate who made it or where it came from. Chest, or document box. dry untouched pine wood. matching hinges. a tin strap surrounds the top and both ends. has a working latch that closes and opens with the finger, but there is no key. a great size box that easily displays well but large enough to provide useful storage. a superb looking box that would be an eye catcher, displayed in any room. circa early 1930's I think. Vintage Dark Wood Painted Rasied Relief Asian Design Wooden Box Chest Trunk
Very nice vintage painted raised relief Asian design wood chest. It measures approx. 18" long by 10" wide x 10" deep and weighs over 8 lbs. It has a crack on the lid that goes all the way across and has been repaired with a leather type tape. There is also a crack on the bottom of the chest. But neither of these affect the stability of the chest. There are chips out of the wood on the front where the raised relief is. The hardware may have been replaced at one time, but I'm not positive of that. It does show wear, but overall a great solid chest. I purchased this item at an estate sale and have tried to describe it as best I can. Antique Primitive Wood Chest Trunk Casket Sarcophagus Coffin Box Blue Handles
Antique wood box up for auction. Everyone keeps telling me that it is a childs casket. I will let you be the judge of that. I'm going to guess this piece at the early 1900s. The top does resemble a casket. As do the handles. The handles I believe are aluminum that are flaking gold paint. They will stick out when put in that position. The corners have metal brackets. The top has a locking mechanism. The whole thing has the original blue wash type paint that has rubs here and there. There were tools in it and it has an oil stain on the inside. Lg Brown Wood & Varnished Canvas Steamer Trunk, Original 1900-1950 Americana
20" wide by 32" long by 31" deep steamer trunk in original condition. The top is built with a slight arch. I believe the trunk is from the early 1900s to possibly 1930. It is in very good condition and all of its parts are there except for the leather side handles which have both broken off. The trunk has a wooden pull-out bin which is 9" deep with two compartments. The hardware is working but we do not have a key for it. We've taken many pictures of the trunk to represent its condition but if you have any specific questions please do not hesitate to ask. If you can't pick this up locally(NJ) we will wrap it in cardboard and see if it will go UPS.
