Offered is a lovely old trunk in rustic condition it is made of mahogany with pine as secondary wood and cedar in the bottom. it has a candle drawer as most old trunks of this period do. it is 20 inches high by 30 inches wide by 15 1/2 inches deep on 4 inch turned feet. The feet indicate the age as early American Federal period and the finish is in good condition. There has been replaced trim and hinges as one might expect from a piece of this age. The Barrel Stave Trunks generally date a bit earlier than most of the dome tops made and have horizontal running slats instead of vertical(end to end vs. over the top) Giving it a slightly different look. When she moved into my house, her trunk was not welcome. I pulled out all the(atrocious gold and green) wall covering and I dragged it out to the yard for about a week of sunny days before I got the moth ball smell out of it. Selling this antique blanket chest. Appears to be handmade with typical style hand cut dovetailed corners. It has had the hinges replaced. Bottom has had tin reinforcement added. Top half of latch is missing. Cleats are present but no insert is included. Unique wood prop for the lid is attached. Brass on corners of lid. Steel wheels- I'm not sure if they are original. Has aged fairly well and is still a solid sturdy piece. Finish shows some wear. Antique Germany Cherry Wood Trunk w/Marble Top Mid 1800’s I got this beautiful small trunk while living in West Germany. It is made of beautiful Cherry Wood which is a hardwood. The color is medium wood. It is carved with beautiful arches front and sides. The back is plain. The top measures 32 ¾“ x16 7/8” and it stands 16 7/8” tall. It has one drawer which is made with dovetail joints. See pictures. The legs are ball legs. When I bought it I was told it was from 1850 to 1870. I had a marble top cut for it which measures 34” x 17” It can be used with or without the top as the top of the trunk is in fine condition also. Hinges and old metal hook and latch to keep the lid shut. It is a wonderful mustard paint color with its original wood crate separators that would keep the eggs safe. I'm not sure if there were some cardboard pieces that would hold the eggs while transporting- they are long gone now. Still to find the wood crates is a great find! It is not perfect but it has a great look to it! There is a piece of wood missing on the bottom front of this carrier as shown in the photographs. You could take the wood crates out and use this piece as a filing cabinet or trunk to hold small things in- lots of uses. The interior is lined in calico cotton with a picture of women inside the lid. It is the original interior. There is embossed tin covring the outside. Along with wood slats and metal reinforcing bands. The top is slightly humped and the two(formerly) leather handles are missing from the sides.often the case because the leather degrades. This came from an estate sale on the NY/Massachusetts border, the owners state that it is from the 1800's, and based on my research, I believe that to be true. For your consideration is this truly unique folk art decorated wood Carpenter Tool Chest. It has many carvings including 3 initials" MFA" on the raised top. The sides and front have carved diamond shapes and crude faux wood graining. There are several layers of old original paint giving this trunk its great patina. Antique Hump Back Steamer Trunk Wood Gold metal decor
Trunk is 32" wide.17.5" front to back, 22" to the highest point. Trunk is painted a gold color. Wood strapping is in good condition. Inside has been covered in a cream velvet with padding. Some of the studs holding the main latch are loose. There are no handles. The bottom is sound. There is no support to hold the top up, I backed it up to a wall for photographing. Beautiful antique trunk. I had someone online look at pictures and he estimated it was from about 1890. The research I have done myself leads me to believe it was made between 1870-1890. It is made of wood and covered in leather. I believe that it's pine but I could be wrong. There are metal bands across the top and around the edges. Please see pictures this truck is old and has plenty of bumps and bruises. The leather handle straps are missing and there are several patches of leather missing on the top and front. There is also a crack in the lid. It definitely needs some TLC but is still beautiful and has tons of rustic charm. There is paper lining the inside that is torn and has some spots. Large French Antique Wood Trunk for Amidon Starch ~ Original Alexis Fedor Ad
Delighted to discover this large and very rare antique French wooden storage trunk/box. Circa 1910. The wooden trunk was originally used for the selling and storing of pouches/bags of powdered clothing starch by the starch manufacturer, Amidon Hoffman. The interior of the lid has the original advertising label across the full lid interior. Rare to find the label in such very good condition! The trunk would have been displayed open by the shop owner for customers to select their bag of starch. The brand logo of a cat(which to the French is a symbol of cleanliness) is marked"Cat" and was a trademark filed in Apr. 8, 1876. The design was by Alexis Fedor(1832-1911) who was an illustrator of children's books. Fedor was particularly fond of drawings of animals; his favorite animal was the cat. There is no key. the box has divisions in the top of the lid presumably for papers. There is also a small tray inside the chest that is spotted with ink. Presumably where an ink pen was stored. ANTIQUE PERSONAL TOOL BOX TRUNK WOOD CHEST PRIMITIVE CHILDS AAFA
I can't express how cute this box is over the internet! It has so much detail and style. Just like those large carpenters chests that are 3' long! Measuring approximately 15" Long, 8.5" Tall& 9.5" Deep, it is a mere shadow to it's working relatives! I am unsure whether a loving parent acquired this for their child. A carpenter used it as his traveling caddy or if it truly was a salesman sample trunk. I have never seen one of this age and quality before. It is painted a beautiful vintage yellow and greenish color. The latch is a simple piece of leather which simply hooks onto a metal latch. Inside. You can see a strap of leather, this hooks to a nail and works as the holding mechanism for the lid, although it does not always stay in place, occasionally I have to hook it back on there. There is a nice little tray ... moreto hold the small tools or notions and a deep box for the other tools. The inside lid has a nice piece of leather to hold the little tools and gadgets. There were some leftover sewing notions in this box when I received it but I think it would be a fabulous display for old childrens tools or a fantastic jewelry box or display on your dresser. You definitely do not find this craftsmanship anymore! The hinges are fastened with nails. Which is the only flaw in the piece. They look to be original but there is just a little play on one of the hinges. It is by no means falling off, most likely caused by the heavy lid and not having the leather strap attached. I have not attempted to hammer these back in place, and again, the lid works fine just want to mention a tiny amount of play. Other than all of that. He was originally from Ohio and lived there after war(letters were addressed to him inside the box) His name is painted on the top of the box as well. VINTAGE 1800's Miniature Wood/Metal/Leather Hump Back Trunk/Salesman Sample
Great old vintage hump back trunk in excellent original condition. It has 2 different patent dates on it. One on the center latch and another on the outside latches. It is 18 inches wide, 13 inches tall and 10 1/2 inches deep. One leather side handle is missing the metal piece that goes on the end(see picture) and someone has replaced 2 screws on one of the back hinges.

This is a Large Trunk or Chest from NATIONAL WILD TURKEY FEDERATION- NWTF. It is made of wood covered in leather with brass hardware. The rounded lid is secured with 2 leather straps that snap and a brass slide lock. The trunk is in great condition. There are a few flaws like small chips in the wood base and minor scuffs in the leather. Otherwise. Nice and clean. It is approximately 18 1/2" tall, 20 1/4" wide, and 13 1/2" deep and weighs almost 22 lbs. I have a matching smaller trunk up for auction. It does nest inside this large one. Antique Wood & Metal Flat Top Trunk- Lots of Hardware- Refinished
Super looking old travel trunk completely refinished. Measures 14" tall; 40 1/2" wide and 22" front to back. Good size for a coffee table- if you need taller could put rollers on bottom or put it on a frame. Has 2 coats of stain; one coat of poly for easy cleaning; new leather handles; new interior wallpaper. At one time it had leather straps all the way around- still has all the hardware but only has bottom part of straps on front. They just seemed to get in the way. Tons of hardware has a brassy finish and looks great. Buyer pays shipping, I ship UPS and it weighs 48 lbs when boxed. Good luck.
